How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. To be brutally honest, I chose MSD because of the price XD; MSD's are right within my price range and big enough for me to customize comfortably. Some day I might get a lovely SD, but that'll be quite some time in the future. Probably when I get a job.

Other then that though, I really enjoy the size. They're comfortable and light to carry around without hassle - which is really important since me and my family are quite mobile.

    2. I didn't really decide.. I was just looking through a bunch of dolls and found one I loved~ So I got it. (Ended up being about 24in, haha)

    3. Well.. my first doll was a 70cm, and I've found since getting him that I really tend to only like bigger dolls. Not to say that I don't think little ones are cute or anything (I have one 45cm), but .. I just prefer bigger ones. I wonder if that happens to a lot of people, if the first one they get sort of sets a pattern ..

    4. I would love to get a larger doll, but just love the tinies.

      And yes, my first bjd was a tiny . . . started the trend . . .

    5. I have pretty much all sizes, and I tend to choose based on whether or not I like the sculpt. Earlier I didn't like minis all that much, but after I discovered the Bambicronys I'm pretty much addicted. :)

    6. When I first started looking around, size wasn't really an issue for me. I'd seen both MSD and SD sized dolls in person before, and I was simply in for which was called to me. That happened to be DOD's Homme Kirill who just happens to be MSD size. ^_^ Now that he's here, I absolutely adore his size, and quite frankly, I'm very glad he is what he is because, as I'm completely anal about all things detail, it makes it much easier for me to work with heights when it comes to the rest of my boys.

For example, Nazomi, my Kirill, is the shortest of my characters, so I'm switching him over to a Blue Fairy Boy body, that way Fakia, my other DOC boy, won't be the same height as him, but a tiny bit taller. And on from them I can plan for the others, Elijah, who'll be a Latidoll Blue will be taller than them both, I'm hoping to find a boy body in between for Prince Hivites. I have always wanted an SD though, which is perfect for Seto, as his character is actually over two feet taller than his boyfriend, who happens to be Nazomi. ^_^ So I think in the end it all really works out. <3

Not really sure if I answered the question anymore, just saying size didn't have any initial effect on my first buying choice, but it certainly is interesting to play around with now xD

    7. Well I like MSD for cost...but I'll also be making a big move to Canada. Moving a MSd doll would be easier than moving a bigger one.

Though I admit, sometimes I feel like all the good clothes are for the bigger ones.
      *_*

    8. My first doll was a 60cm girl, my second was a 70cm boy, and I just got a tiny. I like the variety. :) I'll have a mini or two someday, too.

    9. Welcome to Canada, or bienvenue au Canada, where are you moving? Canada is HUGE, I am in Northern Ontario, just above the Great Lakes.

If you know of any doll meets, please share them, I feel like an island up here! Nobody "gets" me.

    10. Hm.. MSD because it has the one with face I love... Superkids-Xell.

But mostly for practicality. It's expensive, so I want big. But small enough to carry in a little pack.

    11. My first was a Supia minisup. I saw her and fell in love with her face and (probably the deciding factor) she was in my price range.
I now have a Nara elf (luts kid delf) and a soom Godo and I am waiting for my minifee Shiwoo to arrive, so there is a bit of variety in sizes.
I love my big boy and I am planning on a soony to keep him company but I have a real soft spot for the msd size. you can fit more of them into a smaller space!:aheartbea

    12. I never really considered size when buying my first BJD. I bought my first doll (Rainydoll Soah) because I loved her. I was a bit surprosed at her size (coming from 16" fashion dolls), but it didn't bother me. I STILL don't take size into consideration as I have a Tiny, a not so Tiny, a mini and two SD-ish sized. I buy what I like - face wise and go from there.

    13. I decided to start off with 1/3 scale BJD's because before that I've only really had 1/6 scale (or smaller) figures/dolls and I really wanted to move up to a larger scale because clothing smaller dolls is a lot harder -_-;

    14. Well, for me, part of it was the cost. However, I also happened to /love/ the look of my boy, and a close friend of mine had owned MSD-size Dollzones and loved them.

Also, it would be easier to carry him around in my bag... I didn't want to be negotiating with a big, expensive fellow while still trying to figure everything out about BJDs (and I do have fights with Taru from time to time.) One day, though!

    15. Size is never really a factor for me. I get a particular doll generally because the face sculpt intrigues me, and size is secondary.

    16. This year (toward the end of the year) I will be ordering larger dolls. I tend to mini knit for them, so a larger doll will mean more knitting. But not as much as a people sweater!
      Mary-Lee :-)

    17. does someone have a comparison list of some different dolls and their respective weights? i think that would really help me out in deciding, as i havent been able to try out the different sizes and weights in person.

    18. Size played (and actually still does) a part with what I got. Cost is a part of it, but it didn't stop me if I totally fell in love with something, such as my limited Alley from Cherishdoll. I'm also a fan of cute, small stuff and, since SDs are more mature-looking, they don't appeal to me as much.

As for buying in the future, I imagine I'll probably be sticking with tinies for the most part, perhaps get one or two more MSDs.

    19. Personally, I chose a DoD MSD. I thought that having a doll on the smaller size would just give me the idea of what it would be like to have a doll around and just see if I wanted anything bigger. Now that I have mine, I've been looking at more of the bigger ones.

    20. to me I decide on my first doll on was a smaller doll and she was less expensive but I like all kinds of dolls no matter what size they are...to me its not really a big deal what size a doll is what made me encouraged to get a tiny first was the fact that tinies are less expensive. And since I am in college still I like to try and keep things as inexpensive on myself as possible.
