How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. I used to have a "msd only" rule. I currently have three and a half luts minifees (which i love because they're mature minis), but now i've decided to upgrade two of them to delf size now that i've had lots of experience with that size, thanks to my friend's four luts delf boys. (she has an el, nanuri 07, and two elf chiwoos). So yeah, now I'm saving to upgrade my modded mnf chiwoo to a delf Shine, and my bw mnf modded lishe to a delf tanning Lishe.

    2. I like big kids, personally. I just like having an armful of doll and I dislike childlike bodies, so SD and up it was for me. I've got nothing against minis and am actually getting one MSD-sized doll, but most of my planned dolls are 60+ cm dolls. My current doll is 64cm.

As far as size mishaps go, for the longest time I was under the unfortunate impression that NotDoll's Miriam was MSD-sized. A character of mine declared that this was the face of his internet girlfriend, and I thought seriously about getting one.

And then I met one in person and she sat in my hand with room to spare. Miriams are mature-bodied tinies. *_* And the character she'd go with is going to be in a Hound shell.

We'll just call that "Why internet dating doesn't work."

    3. I buy what strikes me. I have three SDs, and the next one I'm getting is a tiny. After that, I've got my eye on another SD :)

    4. If I love the doll, I don't mind about size:)

    5. I like them all. I have an SD, an MSD, and a Tiny. Each has their advantages - weight, height, carry-around-ability, and so on. But I love them all. I don't think there will ever be an 'exclusive' size for me, though I really thought SDs would, when I first got one.

    6. I don't mind which size my dolls are, but I prefer having SD and MSD dolls to minis.

    7. I'm all for the 60cm dolls! They just have more presence in a room, if that makes any sense. And you can get the most detailed outfits for them, which I love because I'm all nit-picky over cute little details :)

    8. I absolutely love the SD faces.. I just love their adult looks but size is a huge issue. Jadeedoll brought over her SD boy and it just felt too big for me.

The MSDs are as big as I can get I think. The tinys might be a sweet addition and one that I would consider after my initial girl Pinkie arrives. :)

    9. My first real bjd was a 45cm doll. I liked that size, but when I saw the 60cm dolls I found I loved them more and moved more towards them. There seems to be more wigs, eyes etc. for that size.

    10. I'm only 5' 1'' as well. I have one MSD at the moment. I decided on MSDs because -
      1. They are anywhere from $250 cheaper than SDs
      2. I wanted one bigger than a barbie, but small enough to carry around
      3. My dream doll's an Unoa Lusis :aheartbea
      Yep. :)

    11. I started with an MSD because they were more affordable (though he ended up being like 500 >_>..) and because I wasn't sure I could deal with having such a big doll. but after going to a doll meet and seeing the gorgeous SD sized dolls in person, I really wanted one..

I still love taking pictures of Natsuo even though he's small, but now that Tober, my woosoo is on a type 3 body.. he poses amazingly. I think SDs are easier to photograph?

    12. One of the things that appeals to me most about BJDs, is the fact that they can be larger than other dolls. I have other non-BJDs that are MSD sized or smaller, so I wanted my BJD to be something a little different.

    13. It took me ages to decide which size doll to go for. I was torn between MSD and SD. I've finally decided on SD because after much staring at a tape measure I realised MSD would just be too small for me even though I liked how portable they are. I want a doll for a companion, and I figure SD is the best size for cuddling.

    14. i always wanted a biiiig doll. two of the next ones i want are 70 cm and, best part, is they're cheaper than most 60 cms. feel like i get my money's worth better that way.

    15. I didn't decide, actually - I have dolls in SD, MSD, and tiny size. I think it's the doll itself, more than its size, that makes the decision for me.

    16. I didn't have much choice, as I've fallen in love with Elfdoll's Soah... She's only SD so the designer made the decision for me.

    17. The bigger dolls are easer to make really nice and elaborate cloths for. and i agree they display better bit smaller dolls travel better and don't tire your arms out!

    18. I was curious about others opinions and reasoning as to how you make your decisions when purchasing a dollfie. I recently had the Luts "El", but sold it since I thought I would rather have a smaller doll than the larger. Anyone else ever feel torn when making their big purchase?

    19. My first doll was 60cm, but I won't let that defining factor of my collection.

I have teeny to just plain tiny Tinies, Minis & larger 57/60cm. I like that my dolls are a variety of sizes and actually hestitate buying a doll if it's too close to another size, ie: holding off on Miru cus she's too close to MNF Lishe. I like variety. To ME all one size (or brand for that matter) is boring.

    20. I just fell in love with the sculpt - size didn't matter at all! But I do find that I like the look of 60cm+ dolls than the smaller ones. There are some smaller dolls out there that I love the look of (SDC Renee) but wouldn't want to own.
