How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

1. Hmm, I am not sure exactly how it happened...
I ended up liking the SDs that is all. I like the large size.
I guess I am a classic American, I like everything big (JK)

But really took a liking to the mature look, so I think that is how I ended up choosing my size, because the size really had to do with the sculpt, or at least that is what I thought when I first fell in love with Kizimir.

2. Well I've seen all sorts of dolls at this convention I went to and the owners were nice enough to let me play with them. I was waiting for an autograph and I saw an SD boy. The owner let me hold him and he almost killed me. No kidding, I'm really petite and short. He was like a little then 3 feet shorter then me. It was depressing! I got to see an MSD and I was in love. Not only were they lighter, but they weren't so heavy. I looked for molds I liked and I found some and I bought the dolls. I also thought they were cuter and the SD's tend to be a bit more mature for me. And limiting. I can buy much more clothes for my MSD girl then I could for an SD girl. :<

3. I agree with you totally on the SDs being too big.....>_>;; Oh wait I just ordered a 60cm.....What am I doing?! ahem....so I got my little MSD cause she was cute and I thought just right for taking around and I've seen SDs and thought 'Too big!!' and yet.....here I am waiting for my DOT....I can't help it...his head mold sucked me in....Guess we'll find out if I'm really so against a big doll huh? :: crosses fingers :: I hope not!!

4. Honestly... my first doll was decided apon because of price, not the size. It was the only doll (of the many I fancied) that I could afford. She just happened to be a Dollmore Noir Asha MSD sized little cutie.

I mostly tend to like smaller dolls myself, I am very easily swayed by tinies. :)
But I am waiting for a SDF Ethan to show up, so I can find out if I can manage such a "large" doll.

5. The first doll I fell in love with happened to MSD-size so I didn't really decide on size at all, I just wanted that doll no matter what size she was.

The result of this is that my dollfamily is quite mixed of different sizes, I go for the dolls I like no matter what size they are :) So they just have to go along with being totally mixed up.

6. Honestly, when I first started looking at BJD's, the first ones I fell for were the 60cm size, because they were the mature options that were readily accessible. Being a mom of three, size didn't faze me (tho I'm only 5 feet tall) as I'm used to lugging around kids. However, since then (4 years ago now) I find I am trying to save up for a Minifee, despite my resolution to stick to one size. So, I suppose I'm doing this all backwards. Wonder if this means eventually I'll wind up with a tiny in another couple of years? :D

7. well I've liked the minifee shushu for a long time so thats why I chose her. c: I didnt notice her size at all really, I've never seen/held a bjd in real life - so I dont have any ideas about what I'm expecting when I get her...

I think I would have preferred her to be a SD because I think making clothes and stuff would be easier for a bigger doll.. but I honestly dont know. :/ maybe a SD would be too big for me!

tinies have never appealed to me though...

8. I started out with MSDs because they were cheaper, however Last April I got my first big girl and I've since fallen in love with the size of 60cm girls. I find it easier to take pictures of her, and I love her weight, and stuff. Though really, I wouldn't let size keep me away from a sculpt that I like~ :3

9. Accidentally, honestly.

I was in Junkyspot and I was looking at the doll sizes.

It says, "BBI, 44cm, 60cm and 70cm" So I just picked my favorite one.

Which turned out to be a 44cm one, and an MSD. xD
Even though I'd sworn to myself I'd get an SD, but oh well. It costed less and the result was the same. :D

10. For the most part it seems like a lot of people usually go for the actual *look* of the doll, regardless of size.

I have an SD and an MSD, and I'm waiting on another SD. But for me it's not about "heaviness" of an SD or "convenience" of an MSD - I just fall in love with whatever mold strikes me. And although I'm planning to get another SD size, even if he were MSD I'd still want him! :)

Personally I don't think SDs are all that heavy. :sweat But it's all about what you want. I like having a mix of dolls! I don't want to limit myself to one size.

(I am crushing hardcore on my MSD right now though - Souldoll Soulkid Xell. :aheartbea He's so precious to me!)

11. Well, I ALWAYS wanted an SD because honestly, ever since seeing (and admittedly wanting) one of those 3-foot tall Barbies (hey, I was like 8. Seemed like the coolest thing in the world to me) I wanted a BIG doll. Just... I dunno. A doll that made its presence known as if it were a person.

Now I have 2 SDs and one that's 70cm but plan on getting some MSDs and a Puki Puki in the future, and honestly, if I could get a Limhwa To You, I'd be the happiest person ever. *_* Oddly, as I never *planned* to get any 1/6 dolls...

After being around dolls of all sizes more, though, I don't know that I have a favorite size in the end. Every size has advantages and disadvantages, and so even though initially I chose SDs because, well, I wanted a big doll, now it doesn't matter as much to me. xD

12. I may purchase a tiny or puki puki or a MSD XD. but the SD sized really drew me because i love to cuddle adn shes the perfect size and i like to draw so shes my model for clothes, phits and drawings...mostly the face i think....my Miyumi is gorgeous

13. I like big boys and I don't like сhildren (neither real сhildren nor doll сhildren). :-D So SD sized and taller are the only ones for me.

14. Mainly price at the time I bought my first one. I didn't want to spend too much since I was just getting into the hobby, but I wanted to get one with a little substance XD

Little did I know then that even my little 4 inch tall Puki has LOTS of substance ^_^

My first three (one of which I have long since sold) were MSD sized, my fourth was a Tiny and my fifth was an SD size ^_^

15. I never decided about size. I just got what I fell in love with. Lately, though, I have decided I only want one female and one male SD so as much as I love certain sculpts, I still won't get anymore than that. All the others are just what I really like.

16. I got MSDs first, but after time, they just seemed too small. I fell in love with the Lishe sculpt too, back when there weren't any minifees. And when I got her she just seemed right!

17. Well, I go with whatever I feel destined to be with. (I sound crazy, I know)

What I mean is, I know I will get the one, when I see one in particular. Like I know I'm gettign a Camine from Dream of Doll. I just know.

18. The second I laid hands on my first MSD sized dollie I knew that was what I wanted. Smaller than I'd thought but it seemed like a good starter size. Now that I have an actual job I might very well 'upgrade'. I'm afraid it'll be too heavy or too big and end up falling over into a coffee table or something like one of those Just My Size or whatever Barbies.

19. How I decided size:
Well first I knew that the first doll I would get was going to be from volks, and would be a girl. I wanted a standard version with regular skin (didn't want a pure skin for my first doll) So I got a super dollfie 10. I didn't like the sizes and the looks of the other ones.

20. When I first found out about bjd's, I started searching the net and finally went to a meet. I thought the sd size was too tall and liked the msd size more. I already had dolls that about that size so it was a easy choice for me.
