How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. I have a tiny, a mini, and a few large.^^ However, I prefer the 60cm size. I think the smaller ones are cute, but I prefer the bigger clothes, the mature faces and bodies...I still plan on a MSD or two, but SD is the size for me.:)

    2. I collect 12 inch dolls, so when I started looking into BJDs, I leaned more towards that size. Now, I find that I love, love the tinies. I will usually not consider a BJD if it is larger than MSD size, because I just don't have anywhere to put them.

    3. i don't even pay attention to what size they are.. i get them if i like their faces :)

    4. The minis appeal a lot more to me. The larger dolls feel too big... But then, I've always been a fan of Barbie/Bratz, so the minis may just feel more familiar. They also sit very neatly on a desk or shelf. :)

    5. Easy, go for the biggest one you can find! XD
      All I have 70cm boys. ^^

    6. I just fell in love with the face of my DOC boy. And I don't have to much room right now, so he is the perfect size and lovely to carry arround...

    7. I was more in love with the sculpt vs. the size. She's SD13 sized. I honestly wasn't expecting to get one of that size when I started looking at this hobby. I wanted to stick to tinies, and maybe MSD at the largest.. Heheh. I was wrong. XD

    8. i like tinies. I'm afraid of larger dolls, mabbe because I'm pretty petite.

    9. Mine are original character dolls which has had a big influence in what size I buy. ^_^; The adult dolls are SD, while the child dolls are Yo-SD or MSD depending on the character's age.

    10. I do love my MSD Gwenllian, but I think that when her sister Lleucu arrives, a tiny, I'll be more likely to carry her around with me more. Gwenllian is still big in my eyes, even though she's not as big as an SD (I couldn't imagine having an SD at home) and I'd be a little worried about taking her anywhere because she's my first girl and I don't want her to get damaged!

I may get an SD one day, but I like to play with my dolls and perhaps SD would be too big for me really, I'd hate for them to sit on a shelf when I play with my smaller dolls. So sad!

In my chronology, Gwenllian is about 13, whereas Lleucu is 6, accounting for their different sizes.

    11. Right, okay, so this is going to sound awful, but I really don't like the way children look. The wide faces and proportions don't sit well in my eyes, right? Right. And, alas, anything from MSD-size down reminds me of that aesthetic. So I'm a 60cm-and-up girl!

(God, that makes me sound appalling. But I'm not! Really! Children are okay. I just... never find them cute, ever.)

    12. Eleniel:Because at the time, btssb outfits only came in SD size...Ok, so thats not REALLY the reason (sounded good though)

Actually, that was my reason. I wanted the BTSSB outfits in the worst way.:aheartbea I was buying outfits a year before I bought a doll. So, I bought a Sd13....who is coming this week.:D

    13. I'd been around 1/6 scale vinyl dolls for pretty much all my life, and even picked up some vinyl normal Dollfies when I came to Japan. Then, after a few months of playing with my 30cm vinyl Dollfie, I decided that I wanted one like him, only bigger. So I looked around online and decided that 60cm would be a good size. Then, since I had very vague desires for a doll, I got one of the cheaper 60cm boys, but I like him quite a bit. I just want to make his nose less hawk-ish someday.

I'm planning to get a variety of sizes eventually, but I started with a 60 cm because I wanted to get a mature-ish looking large doll and 60 cm fits that bill pretty nicely. The next one I plan to get will only be about 25 cm, though, and female, so I do like some variety.

    14. To be honest, I don't really care about the size of a BJD all THAT much. I'd have bought Luken in any case because I simply love his face. I do have to admit, though, that so far, I seem to prefer large dolls, like 60 cm and taller. But that's mainly because the taller dolls tend to look less child-like and more like grown-ups or at least older teenagers. I think those child-like smaller dolls are cute - but I simply don't want one bad enough to spend a couple 100 dollars on one.

    15. My first doll was a MSD and I got her because she was cheap! I had her for a while before I started thinking that I might like a 60cm instead so I got rid of my mini and got a big girl. I had her for a couple of months before I realized that she was just too big and awkward and I liked minis better. So I sold her and got another mini. I think theyre the perfect size for me, I think I'd like to get a yo-sd sized doll in the future too because they look like they would be perfect for carrying around in a purse but not too small, I'd never want one of those really tiny puki sized ones. It would problly fall under the seat of my car along with all those french fries and hairclips I've lost and I'll never see it again....or my dog would swallow it whole.

    16. My first BJD was an MSD, and after a few months, I decided that she was just too big for me to enjoy her. Around the same time, I got an Elfdoll Piggy, and she is the perfect size for me!! I heart her so much. All of my other dolls are 1/6 size, so I realized that dolls bigger than 30cm are just not for me.

    17. I checked the size of my art bag :)

    18. I'm not sure how I decided for SD's, but I just KNEW that when I got my first doll that I wanted an SD and that all my dolls would be SDs. There's two MSDs that I think I might want and I would only want them just to have a doll that's easier to carry around with me when I go out. I think I don't like MSDs as much because they have the less mature bodies, but the two I am eying (DOC Petsha and B&G Hera) have the mature forms.

But overall, I love the SDs. Their clothes are less difficult to make, face-ups are less difficult. I mean, the smaller they are, the harder it gets to do these things. And I love the molds available for the SDs! Their faces are just stunning! well, MSD faces are gorgeous too, but I love the more mature faces.

    19. I went from a mini, to a SD, to a tiny, to a mini, to a SD, then back to tinies, now I'm getting my largest doll yet, and waiting on a mini and a tiny, haha. So...I guess I'm all over the place as far as size goes, heh. I tend to fall for faces first.

    20. I had started out with a SD girl and a MSD boy cause they were siblings, but when I got tired of his sister, I sold her. So the next couple dolls began MSD sized cause they were easier for me to handle if I had to hold more than one. Course now I do own a SD boy and plan on eventually attempting to have a SD girl again in the future. I dunno, I think it really depends on the character I'm going for. That and what mold best fits. I have 2 MNF's from Fairyland lined up for two new characters soon cause I couldn't find girls that fit their personalities in SD. And since I wasn't happy with my little Sophie's character in Yo-SD, I'm upgrading her to grown up status as a Senior Delf Blanchett. So I'm pretty flexible in size, but I think I prefer most of my girl characters MSD cause I think of them as cute and petite women and if it's some sexy hunk, I may want him to be a SD...with the exception of my loveable MSD goth boy, Tohaku of course. :D
