How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. I like MSDs because all of the molds I like are MSDs.... besides two... which are SDs

    2. In the beginning I was actually very set on getting 2 MSDs and having them be twins.
      But then decided to get an SD instead, thinking he would be their older brother, and rightly so should be bought first.
      Although, I'm glad it ended up that way because now I have a whole other plan with my dolls.
      If anything, I'd love to have at least 1 of every size, and currently even though I have a ton of different dolls on my wish list, (they're mostly there so I don't forget :sweat) I think I've only decided on one MSD I'd really love to own.
      But it's always subject to change with the different dolls that come out every year.

    3. the first doll i fell in love with was an MSD. and so were the next 10+ i saw after her.
      until i saw DIM Bellosse, Angell-Studio Cinderella, and Souldoll Star...
      Bellosse is going to be my first :D
      but so far those are the only SDs i like. i prefer more innocent/childlike faces, and most SDs look too mature/angry. i think that may be why i gravitate towards MSDs more.
      size really is not a factor for me. i have seen both in real life, and they do not frighten or put me off at all. however, i do like the size factor of SDs more. they seem to be much easier to sew for and just all around easier to hold onto. however, i could be wrong seeing as i have never actually held one...

      sorry for being all over the place >>

    4. My first doll will be MSD >w< I like their size but they all look like children T_T.. the 2nd one will be SD cause he need to be older ^__^;;

    5. All of my dolls are second hand, so it's really been impulse acquisitions for me. I love them all. I have a special fondness for Minifee's, but I adore my Soom Dillui probably the most.

    6. Initially I just had larger size ones, because the first one I bought (Luts Chiwoo) happened to be that size, then I got some tinies and had tow distinct and non overlaping groups... then I got a Petite Ai (technically a tiny but the right size to be baby siblign to the larger size BJD's)

      I resisted getting any Minis because they were the wrong scale to fit in with either of the other groups I had... especially as it was mature/slim Mini (Narae) I was drawn to. regular/younger Minis, could fit in as younger siblings to the Larger BJD's, but mature ones couldn't.

      Now I have all three sizes, Large, Mini and tiny and, whil some are the right scale to overlap/ fit in as younger sibs to some of the bigger groups, mostly they are three distinct groups/families of BJD's, and each group lives in a different area of the house.

    7. I forgot to mention, also, that I have now got some that are in-between sizes. Little Junior Ai is smaller than mini, bigger than Tiny, and I'm about to get another BJD that is bigger than Mini but smller than the Large/SD size BJD's, so all the differntiation between my "three distinct groups/families" is about to be blown out of the water....{grin!}

    8. I didn't really have a very good perception of how big different dolls sizes were just by reading 43cm, 60cm, etc.... Not because I don't know metrics-- I'm better with metrics than American standard... but I have a very poor sense of visual perception. I would try to picture something 60cm tall and I just couldn't get a good picture in my head of what it would look like, as far as the size of the head or limbs... yeah.
      So I went to a meetup before ordering my first doll and took a look at the different sizes. I asked questions and held a couple of dolls. By the time I got home, I was certain that minis were the size for me. ^^
      I am definitely attached to minis now and they're the only size I really feel compelled to buy. There are a few SD sized dolls on my wishlist, but they're towards the end of my wishlist-- I think I'll have to get used to that size little by little before bringing one home.

    9. The first doll I ever saw was SD13 Lucas, however, I fell in love with El. Since he was a 60cm doll, I loved that size and bought more.

    10. When i first found out about BJDs, and when i seriously wanted one and started looking for my first...i knew i wanted a big boy.. XD and now im getting one..71.5cm :aheartbea

    11. And now I found a 33 cm YO size which I love. Obviously the sculpt is more important than the size to me.

    12. For me, it depends on alot of different things, most importantly, though, is the sculpt! I so far have msd/elf/tiny msd size. I don't know if I have room, yet for sd...I will eventually, at the rate that I am going...

    13. At the meet I went to, I held a larger doll (Sard) and it felt... really awkward. o_O It was almost like he was trying to squirm away from me. (He probably didn't like me, but anyway... xD)
      I also held an MSD size doll and he felt perfect. He could sit on my knee. It was sweet. x3
      So now I'm saving up for my first: KD Aru.

    14. I didn't actually choose size, Suzaku chose me! and I am happy to start my BJD family with her. But I knew I wouldn't start with a large one.

    15. At first I was set into having SD sized dolls, which led to me picking out Siere and that eventually led to getting my boy Conrad, but after having gotten Muffy, I am definitely think that MSDs and smaller dolls are for me. Somtimes I kind of regret getting Siere and Conrad before doing a bit more research on doll sizes, but whatever, I still love them to bits. xD

      But yeah, it seems like the doll size just kind of came to me randomly, I didn't really decide on it myself. xD

    16. I always knew I wanted SD sized dolls, but MSDs are cute, but I was never really drawn to a mini doll until I saw BBB Ariel. Up until that point, I was more than content to stay with my SD dolls. But as soon as I can afford her, I will be getting a MSD.

      But it was really about chosing size. It was about chosing the mold. It was just coincidental that the sculpts I wanted were SD sized. MSD are cute and I am sure I will love my Ariel when I get her, but I am really fond of my SD sized dolls, not becase of their size, but because of who they are to me.

    17. Since I like to sew things for my dolls, I want to have a size that I would like to work with. Recently, however, I've been looking at the smaller kid-let sized dolls.

    18. i only like the 1/3 dolls the SD 13 size ^^they are heavy and more like real baby to me~

    19. I decided SD size for my first doll (lishe from Luts) and after that I fell in love tiny Lati yellow.

    20. i have a sd. She was given to me. But i want a smaller doll next
