How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. I tend to gravitate towards smaller dolls--Pukis and Yo-SDs--but I did see a few SDs that I would grab in a heartbeat if I could.

    2. well when i got my SD, i didn't really care for the size. i just like her since she had the gentle face i was looking for but, when she arrived at my house, she was HUGE!! i never though SD were so big * 3 * prolly never bothered to read the description. i might get a continuation of a SD or get and CSD or and MSD. a YoSo-SD is too small for me.:whitetruffle

    3. My first was a msd..looked for something compact, something i could bring around easily...and wanted to get used to having a doll around before getting anything larger. And then dz luke came along~

    4. I know how you feel. I got two msd dolls and now I want a tiny doll or an sd doll but I'm so afraid I won't have the clothes or I'll like MSD too much and won't want the doll I get. Or worse I'll love the doll I get and my MSD dolls are gonna seem too big or too small. It freaks me out.

    5. I own MSDs, SDs and tinies! If I like the mold, I'll just get it no matter what size it is. I prefer MSDs though.

    6. Mine was rather weird. I initially wanted a 1/6 doll or one that ranged from about 12-16 inches, and was continuously searching for one in that range only to run into the limited edition AS Carina that well... was more like 24 inches, but everything about her just felt... right... So she has become my first doll and I'm still, unfortunately, waiting for her ((just 2 more weeks ^_^ ))

    7. My first doll is an MSD. I chose that size because she was small and I wasn't ready for a big doll yet.

For a while I liked Unidoll Berkut, but when I paired Adelheid next to a Unidoll Ark (same 67cm size), he was just too big in comparison. Once I get at least one SD, I'd highly reconsider a larger doll.

As long as there is a good mix in sizes, it won't bother me, but until I have a good collection going, size will definitely be an issue.

    8. I consider my own size compared to the doll, so an MSD fits best. I am a "miniature" person both in size and weight, and I was just afraid that a 60+ doll would look giant next to me and would be hard to play with.
And there are just 2 or 3 SD-sized dolls I came to like anyway.

    9. For me, my dolls started growing. I was kind of scared of SD sizes, and had no idea about MSD so I went with 1/6. THen I decided she was cute but tiny, so my next was MSD....and now I've decided that while I love MSD size and will have more, SD is probably a good "fit" for me(I'm pretty tall, though)

    10. I love Mini and Tiny sized dolls, at 45ish cm and 35ish cm. I don't own a doll, yet, but I already know what I would feel most comfortable with ^^ . I already think that the idea of an 18 inch doll is really big compared to what I was expecting! I thought having an SD sized doll might be really cool because of how gigantic they were, but I knew I probably wouldn't 'play' with them very much, and they would more just me a 'pose doll'. Besides, Large dolls tend to have long legs, and in general look a bit too tall, thin, and a mature for me. I prefer a teen/older teen, or slightly shorter look ^^ . That's what Mini dolls are for!

I also want to have a couple kids, in the 12ish range, which 35cm/Tiny is great for! It satisfies the 'super-cute' cravings and is also tiny enough that it makes for x10 'Awww' and cooing factor. Not to mention they should be way easier to carry around places! X3

If the dolls get too much smaller, such as 12cm, they lose a lot of the appeal that makes me really like BJDs. So I guess I like to coast in the middle.

    11. I actually had a weird situation. I had gotten a small (60cm) Elfdoll girl for Christmas a couple years back and I thought she was the perfect size for me (I hadn't seen any other doll before her). When my (70cm) boys arrived, I loved their sizes so much that I think I prefer them now. I have strangely decided that if I ever get another girl doll that is suppose to be an adult, she should be (60cm), and if I ever get another adult boy; he should be (70cm). Although children should always be MSD. I think I had Barbies for too long. -_-.

My boyfriend on the other hand, loves the MSD size, and that's all he wants.

    12. I'm looking at buying a doll soon and I'm not sure what size that I want either. So, what size is the best for a "starter"?

    13. I don't want anything too small, but I don't anything too large. I'm really happy with the MSD size, though now that I've made myself comfortable with the way he moves and whatnot, I really want a littler doll - just for fun. <3

    14. I'm still in college, so obtrusiveness is a big deal. If I got one of the 70cm boys I like, I'd...just trip constantly.

So doll #1 will be a tiny anthro. I'm worried about clothing it, though.

    15. XD Bigger is better! I would have gotten a 70cm doll when I got my first doll, but I wanted a girl doll and back then I don't think there were many, if any, 70cm girl dolls.

    16. Originally I told myself I would only buy tinies... I felt like the other sculpts would be "too big" for me.

Then I fell in love with an MSD mold and that idea was history.

Now I'm not too worried about the size. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll stumble across an SD that catches my heart. I realize now I don't want to limit myself. :XD:

    17. For me, size isn't much of a factor. It's usually the faces that really do it for me. However, I find my self gravitating more towards 60 cm now that I've got one. x3

    18. I don't even pay attention to size. Tinies are the size of doll I'm more used to, so I'm much more interested in MSDs or SDs 'cause they're BIIIG. I'll probably and up with a doll family with massive height variations, though...

    19. I originally wanted MSD size. There are a lot of dolls with sculpts I really like in that range, but then I saw Souldoll Chiron. I only saw a picture of him, and I didn't know how big he was until I went to the website... and nearly had a heart attack. He is WAY bigger than I ever originally planned to get, but he has stolen my soul, so now I have to get him. Which means I probably have to get at least two more 70cm dolls, because they're characters for a story of mine and need to be similarly sized.

I'll probably end up with dolls in a lot of size ranges. Trying to stick to just one size is too limiting, for me.

    20. I don't decide size. The mold is the most important thing for me, if the face calls me I will buy it no matter what size the doll is. So far i have SDs, MSDs, and tinies :D
