How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. I decided to go with an MSD just because I fell in love the CP Bory mold. But I also wanted a doll that wouldn't be too hard to carry around. But I would buy a larger one if I really felt I had to have it. In fact, my floating head is for an SD sized body. Though I do seem more drawn to MSDs.

    2. I decided to go with an MSD because I liked the Narae sculpt.
After going to my first doll meet and seeing the different sizes in person, I was glad I ordered MSD, because I found the SD's a little bit too big and heavy, and while the tinys are cute, I think they'd be a bit too small for a first doll for me.

    3. I really didn't decide on size ... I decided by face.

    4. Well my size was sort of decided for me, I dont currently have the funds to buy an SD or MSD so decided I'd start with a 1/6 and perhaps get a larger BJD later, plus I want this one to sit on my pc screen :) so 1/6 is more convient I guess.
      x

    5. I chose SD in the end as my 'main' size. I prefer bigger dolls, so I might even look into getting a 70cm, 80cm... maybe even 90cm! I find bigger dolls are more huggable (although I do know people have said they find MSDs more huggable than SDs)

However, I'm rather interested in getting an MSD and I do have a 1/6th girl. I just prefer bigger dolls, so I'm more likely to get SD sizes and up.

    6. Personally, I like the SD size dollfies. I like anything that's about 60cm to 80cm. I'm thinking that my next whole doll is going to be 70cm tall and I can't wait to get her!
But I do have 2 MSD and 2 tinies. The littlefees were impulse buys I just had to have when they first came out. They even took me awhile to name aswell, but so cute! My MSDs are characters either from my RP or novel that I'm going to write (still have to write it T_T)

Over all my SDs are awesome because I like the maturity I can get from a head. But anything MSDs and smaller are cool in their own rights because you can carry them around a convention without your arm getting tired or anything.

    7. I love the bigger dolls the best because I seem to be more attracted to their faces. I guess they're more mature looking.

    8. I absolutely adore the bigger dolls but as the dolls get bigger so does the price so at the moment I will stick to MSD sizes as they are just as pretty but a bit easier on my wallet. I didnt save up for her, it was just birthday money so I figure when I get a job and I can save up, I will get the bigger doll :D

So yeah, I will probably have loads of SD's :D

    9. This is a good question. I'm really enjoy reading the answers on this thread, too.

One of the things that attracted me to BJDs in general was the SD size. I am not a talented seamstress by any means, but I do sew a little bit. And I couldn't sew at all for my other (smaller) dolls in my collection, but I thought a larger doll might be easier. And when I saw the scale of SD dolls, I was really tempted--especially when I saw a photo of an SD-sized doll posed in a group with other dolls. So I went the SD route.

Now, though--I'm finding I want some other sizes, too. :)

    10. I originally started with MSD's because my 1st doll was kind of a "try the hobby to see if I like it" doll :)

I then got a couple of tinies because when choosing my first doll I fell big time for one of the tinies also. I was set on never having anything bigger than MSD ;)

Then last year I met MrsLovett, and she brought her SD guys around.... within a half hour of her leaving my house on that 1st visit I had ordered my first SD :sweat

I now have 2 SD's, and two full SD's out for delivery tomorrow :o

I do love SD sized dolls, and even have plans for a couple of 70cm.... but my heart will always lay with MSD size :aheartbea

    11. My first doll is MSD, first by mold, then by price.

    12. I didnt check on my first doll's size when I decided to get him, so you can imagine my surprise when I realized he's 70cm tall... but, big or small, as long as if the doll catches your heart it doesnt really matter :)

    13. I prefer SD sized dolls, my first boy is 62cm, and now my second is 52cm x3 so its a difference im adjusting too~ but i really found myself falling for the bluefairy jerome boy, so i guess size itself doesnt matter to much to me, its more about the face and the character of the doll. But if i had to have a preference it would be about 60cm for me x3 i love all the 1/3'd sized clothes most of all! lol

    14. I prefer SD sized dolls, or maybe a bit larger like 70 cm. I don't think smaller dolls suit me well and SD's often look more grown up than the smaller types.

    15. I'm choosing my doll by face. How much does a SD weigh?

    16. My first (and only xD) is MSD
I didn't want something to small and SD was too big and a little more expensive o:
now I'm actually favoring the 18-25cm dolls that I saw someone have at my local anime con xD I don't remember his exact height sadly v.v
but my biggest fear is that the 25cm doll I wanna get will be simillar to a barbie even though I don't think it will be xD

    17. I can't decide - I like the MSDs but the smaller ones have a charm all their own.

    18. :lol:has to be SD for me. As others have pointed out, the faces are more mature and I don't really go for the childlike look though i guess they have a charm of their own. I just find SDs more attractive - their personalities seem to jump out at you and they are easier to bond with for me;)

    19. I didn't, size happened. I have fallen in love in Soom MD (well, some of them) and they happen to be Super Gems (around 70cm). I would prefer soomething more handy, but love gives you no choice ;)

    20. I pretty much only like 1/6 and 1/3 scale dolls. THe 1/4 scale MSD or childlike SD don't interest me at all. I've always been a fan of 'mature' looking dolls and even as a little girl, didn't like 'Baby Dolls'. I only wanted Barbies. ^^
