How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. Actually, I hadn't even thought about size when I first started looking. I thought mostly about what sculpt of doll I wanted and the price mainly. After I had decided on a sculpt, and finally got her home (I have a Luts Kid Delf btw), I thought, "Gosh she's huge!" But after seeing the other dolls larger than the MSD size, I realized the the MSD size was perfect for me.

It was a weird coincidence that I just happened to pick the doll with the right size for me =3.

    2. I've always subconsciously been more atracted to SDs than any other sizes. everytime I'd find out about a new BJD website I'd go look at the SDs first. Honestly when I saw an SD in real life for the first time I was a little intimidated by how big it actually was. But I quickly grew used to it and now I want a couple of big dolls. Honestly I've looked at pukis and no mater how cute they are, I think I would be awkward with them because I'm so used to seeing bigger dolls lol. The biggest I'dget would be a 70cm though. Anyting bigger than that is outside of my comfort zone.

    3. At first I wanted a SD. Really badly. But then I found such a beautiful MSD, fell in love, and got her instead. XD

    4. at first i really hated tiny dolls.... but now as my first doll i have a BBB Elfkin on the way home to me and planning on getting two more elfkin lol. i am in lurve with the haha. so basically i love all sizes

    5. Since I have 9 large Himstedt dolls in my room, the 3 bjd's I have coming, although 2 are big (about 24") I don't have a problem with it. However, can't get no more. I will probably have to have them sitting with the himmies.

How did I choose size, I didn't, they just happened to be the dolls I liked and that was just there size. :)

    6. My first boy was MSD (so is my sister's first girl, we ordered them together) because I liked the mold, and the size was perfect for carrying around, and kept, he's not too big, and he can take a corner of my desk without problem, I can't imagine doing that with an SD.

    7. Hmmm. I decided on the face I wanted first, and it was SD size - then, well, never really thought about getting MSD anyway. I like my boy the size he is. ^^ I have seen other sizes at a meetup and my friend's MSD... still like SD better, even if it IS a pain in the neck getting him ready to go out somewhere.

    8. I'm drawn to the doll first, size comes later.

    9. My first doll was 1/3 scale (an AA boy), my second was 1/4 (a Kid Delf Boy) and the next two were a pair of Banjis!

So for me, it's less about size and more about scale. I just want all of my dolls to look believable together. So, sadly, I traded away my pretty Banjis.

    10. I go for mold and not worry about size. Have found that MSD is my fave size.

    11. It's really more the sculpt of their faces that appealed to me; they just happen to be 65 cm and over (although I'm pretty certain I'll be sticking to similar-sized dolls from now on).

    12. I'm kinestetic type, so I try to touch everything I can. So I experimentally found 70+ are my size. But now I plan to buy a Rosettendoll (50 sm) as exeption ^-^

    13. At first I started buying whatever doll "tickled my fancy"
my first was an MSD (AOD Wang Zi) and my dream doll is an MSD (IH Tatiana)
      they were my first two.
I started looking for an SD boy shortly after the first doll meet I ever went to. I fell in love with a certain SD boy there :p
Stupidly THOUGHT I was buying and SD boy head when in reality I was buying a 70cm head.
Thought about selling him for a while but finally broke down, bought him a body, AND OMG I LOVE HIM!

long story, but the point is that my 70cm has become my.. measurement? for the rest of my dolls. Which I've screwed myself over because my character that is my 70cm boy is 6ft...average height for a male. So I either have to have LOTS of 70cm boys, or suck it up and pick from the couple 70cm dolls that I like, or just let Luke be awkwardly tall and have SD boys.

so in the beginning I got what I wanted, but now I put a little more thought into it.
I'm selling my original MSD boy and upgrading him to a DIM SD Achernar :D psyched about that.
but I'm wanting to make sure that my dolls "match" so my tatiana will probably leave the storyline from my SD and 70cm boys and I'll build up some other storyline with her and a few other MSDs I have plans for :)

    14. My first doll was a tiny (Bobobie Elfkin) and when I first got her I thought she was too small and probably would stick to bigger dolls. Then I bought a MSD (Bobobie Pixie) and loved her! next I wanted to see what the SD's were like so I ordered Bobobie Apollo. For some reason after that I started focusing on tiny dolls again. Out of all my dolls I prefer my littleFee the most (Fairyland) she is so sweet but strong at the same time. She is an excellent poser too. I also love the fact that they fit nicely into my miniature dollhouse with all the cute accessories that you can buy for them. From now on I think I will stick to tinies........

    15. When I decide my first doll. I choosed baby. Because I didn't think I can take care of a SD or MSD.
      And babies look lovely!

    16. I first fell in love with a SD from DZ but wasnt' really sure yet about the sizes. Eventually I decided to wait it out and see what my mind decided on. I waited a whole year and one day I saw a MSD which I totally loved and it was like all the feelings I had for the SD seemed to not matter as much. So I got me a MSD. Now when I look back at the SD I first saw on DZ i'm glad I waited... I still think that particular SD is very gorgeous but I think I made the right decision. Now, I'm stuck again... I bought a tiny just recently and it hasn't come in yet and I've fallen in love with a SD from B&G. Now I'm decided should I also get the SD from B&G.

    17. it's a little embarassing, I bought a secondhand doll, and because there wasn't any mention in the size of the doll en assumed it was a msd, but when I got a closer look, and went searching on the web, it was a SD.. and i found out moments before he arrived.. but now i'm really happy with my SD's.. hehe..

    18. i buy the doll if i like it ^^ i dont really consider the size.
though the smaller they are, the youngest i make them! (because i dont want them to be just tiny poeple)

    19. At first, I decided to buy a SD sized doll because funny enough, I was one of those people who tend to leans towards the thought 'bigger is better'. :sweat
I've gotten pretty used to her too, she fits perfectly on my arm. Other people tend to be surprised at how heavy they find her when first picking her up, I never really noticed.
But then I fell in love with a few MSD molds because they were perfect for my characters. I was surprised at first when I first saw my MSD boy in person at DDE. He was much smaller than I expected, but I'm much more comfortable with the size now. They're much lighter when it comes to carrying them around, which I tend to do a lot. I don't plan on selling my SD, in fact, I want another one to keep my first company, but for most of my other dolls, I plan on getting MSDs. I almost refuse to get anything smaller than 27 cm though. ^^" I've seen Pukifee and BBB tinies, and held them in real life, and they're just too tiny. :huh?:

    20. I find that I go for the larger boys almost exclusively. I want a girl doll, but I always end up going back to those as the ones I want. That's the main deciding factor in which doll I get, thought there have been exceptions, like the two mini girls I just added. xD
