How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. I've basically chosen the MSD size-- they're more portable and yet still have the complete look of a full sized SD-- much less cumbersome. Also, the expense of an MSD is usually less. I don't feel like I'm going to break the bank to get something I want.

    2. I didn't decide on size at all. It was love. Saw him loved him... kept loving him... wanted him... yesss still want him... and some "Gosh this is a BAD BAD idea" later. I ordered him.
Even if I have no interest in smaller smaller than SD, if someday I fall in love with smaller it won't make a difference. If I can buy it I'll buy it.

    3. I didnt really think about the size when I ordered my first doll, I'm more conserned with getting a face I like ^^ I ordered a bbb mei but I think i will get a dod crush too someday. they will be quite the size difference.

    4. My first purpose for getting a doll was to carry around in conventions. So I went with a MSD because of their lightness and that they were very portable. I love the way that SDs look but right now they are way too big for me. I have a Yo-size doll but I think she is too big for me too. I hope to eventually get a Pukifee.

    5. I picked MSD sized for my first doll because a SD size was too intimidating in my opinion. My friend has a SD sized doll and I think he's amazing... just not something I'd be confident owning as my first doll. Now for my second doll I want a SD sized doll.

    6. At first I was having a rough time finding clothing etc that was MANLY enough for his macho self.... I saw several of his mold on line before purchasing, and even though some were dressed in-frilly-shirts, I already knew he wasn't going to be a frilly shirt guy.
(he rocks his kimono & hakama). Someday I want to make him a nice modern suit, a nice Victorian era suit, and a tux... someday...

and there is sooo much that is TOOO cute for words (oooh waaaaant), frilly girly stuff for the MSD gals who have joined him.

    7. You know, I don't think I ever did decide on a size, really. My first doll was picked based on his sculpt, and happened to be SD sized. After that, I tended to keep to SD size simply becuase all the dolls I liked happened to be that size (with a few exceptions- I have a weakness for tiny little Banjis!).

As my collection has progressed I have owned dolls of most sizes, I think, ranging from the smallest of the small (orientdoll So Il) to a 70cm fellow (Dollmore Film Noir Lawrence.)

    8. I like SD size dolls because I think larger dolls are fun. I think it'd be awesome to have one of the monster guys like 80cm Mecha Angels or 90cm AoDs. I would LOVE to have a Dollmore Lusion girl because she has the size and proportions of a real child. I think the bigger they are the easier it is for me to feel "connected" to them in a way. Plus there's the fact that large dolls have the novelty factor going for them, like "Wow look how big that doll is, that's so cool!!" (Which is how I think anyways).

I've had MSDs, but I always end up selling them. They work alright for child dolls and personas, but they are almost too small for me. Some of them look stuck in limbo between childhood and adulthood.

Conversley, I really like Yo-SD sized dolls for fairy-type personas, that makes their small size realistic and fun. :) The Soom monthly tinies are awesome because they have a great blend of myth and magic (like faeries and sprites) with their size.

    9. I started with a Volks MiniEB and finally went to a 6 cm and Hujoo. Now I only want msd and sd's.

    10. I went to a meetup and fell in love with MSD size. They're perfect, not too big, but not too small either. But now I have a puki (super super tiny... She's travel size. XD) and after the last meetup I went to I really want an SD... Which is good, because I have a DZ Morphoa on my wishlist lol.

    11. I just placed an order on a Long today because, really, I want a big doll, the bigger the best.
Since I was little, the few dolls I wanted were the huge ones, I've always dreamt with owning a big boy, it just makes me exited (in the nice way) to think about a doll I can hug and hang out with XD; If that makes any sense...

    12. I really want to get one of the 1/2 AoDs, but the sculpts for them aren't exactly up my alley. I keep looking at them and hoping one of them will grow on me.

    13. My friend has two dolls in SD size (60cm and 70cm) and I was able to hold them and get a feel for them. It was because of that contact with them that I felt more comfortable with SD size dolls :)

    14. Same here! I'm not a big fan of AoD's aesthetic but I can't help but keep thinking of how awesome and (and BIG) their 90cms are!

It'd be so cool to have a doll that big.

    15. I have and SD and am planning to mostly stick with that size. The main reason I got an SD to begin with is that I was looking for a doll body for a character in my head and all of the smaller bodies just looked to young for me. I also fell in love with a specific mold. I'm looking at getting another SD and her size is even more specific. My current doll would NOT be happy if the next one I get is taller than him. Fortunatly most companies female dolls are a bit shorter than my male doll.

I also like the heft of the SD dolls. They have a nice presence in my arms and even if I get tired after a while, it's okay. I'd handled friend's dolls before I bought mine and whether it's true or not I feel like SD's are more durable.

I've been thinking about getting a tiny sometime just because they are SO adorable and portable.

    16. For me, there are a couple of AoD sculpts I like, but none of them are the 90cms. I showed them to my boyfriend and he was amazed at the size of the. I had to bust out my measuring tape to show him how big they actually are.

    17. I just bought one of each, seems I prefer the MSD size best, they are more portable ^_^

    18. My first doll was a SD.........So I didin't choose the size, the size chose me. After doll meets, and a couple of conventions, I still prefer the SD size.

    19. i'm on a fashion design and tailoring course and wanted a doll to test out my designs. it's easier to sew for larger sizes so i bought an SD.

unfortunately after that, CH had a really good offer, so i took a look at their website and fell in love with their cute little anges so my second purchase was 2 CH anges.

now i'm hooked on the hobby and i plan to have a doll family with all sizes.
my next purchase will be an MSD (when i can afford it!)

    20. I started off with SDs but it turned out that they were just to big for me and overpowered their elaborate display areas (which I love building for my dolls.) So I downsized to MSDs and Yo-sd sizes and have been happy ever since.:)
