How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. i am stuck with tinies, ad i don´t see it changing any time soon, i have been always amazed by tiny cute things...

    2. I like to bring them out with me to make pictures so i prefer the tiny ones ;)

    3. I can't help it, I like things that are bigger and good quality, because theoretically you can fit so much more detail in something bigger. Currently I have a 70cm one, and I like that he's kinda heavy too. It's true that he can't fit on my shelves, but that is more because they're already full than from the space he would take up. There is a space that I want to put him but I need to get a case made first to prevent dust.

      I don't feel that my whole collection will be restricted by size. I have a couple more 1/3 ones coming, more that I want to get in the future, but I also want to get some 1/4 ones too. If you feel that the different sizes would look strange together you can display them in different places.

      I'm a little curious about the 1/2 SDs but haven't seen many so I'm guessing there isn't as much variety? And if that is the case they're probably difficult to find wigs, eyes and clothes for too. I don't find the 70cm too huge, so if more 90cm ones came that I like out I might look into them.

      Generally I'm not interested in anything too small because I have statues/figures for that, and I imagine they'd be more difficult to customize. As someone mentioned, the bigger ones seem to have more mature faces to choose, too.

    4. I like big but not giant to the point where they look like those weird kids that hide in corners.

      Creepiest things I ever saw.

      I like them big enough to hold in the crook of my arm and with a large enough face to admire and do my own face ups when I learn how. 72cm is just right for me!

    5. I'm new to the group, but have been collecting and sewing for my dolls for most of my life. The most current doll I purchased is Alice from DollLove. I haven't gotten her yet, but hope to get her in a couple weeks. I hope I won't be disappointed in her. Does anyone else have a 1/3 size from DollLove?

    6. I actually got to look at my sister's SD doll (ResinSoul Gang), and while it was a nice doll, I felt that I would be more drawn to MSD sized dolls. Once I figured that, I started to look around and found the MiniFee. At first I figured that I would probably only buy that size, but now I'm paying for a YoSD lol! I still want to buy the MiniFee eventually when I can save the money for her, but the 5StarDoll Tong Tong was just too pretty to pass up!

    7. I wanted a bigger doll, because they're so pretty. But not too big because they are expensive.. So I ended up getting a 63 cm boy. I think he's the perfect size for me. I don't really want one that's any smaller.. I'm more interested in the bigger ones and I don't have much money at all... But if I could get a smaller one easily then I would.

    8. I just wanted something different, I already have a lot of dolls (not BJDs) around here that are small about tiny size in BJD. So I decided I wanted to get a larger doll. SD seemed a little to big for me, so I went MSD.

    9. To be honest I was originally still trying to decide what SD I wanted (I mainly looked at SDs because I was new to the hobby and I assumed that almost everyone had this size) and then I bought a mini on a whim. Had been looking at Luts Delfs when they released a new head sculpt for the Minifees, back when they were hosted by Luts. I was also swayed by the fact that they were having an event, so by buying the Minifee, I got a free SD head.
      I shortly thereafter bought the SD a body... and quickly decided I didn't like SD size. Too big, bulky and heavy. :(

      At the time I wasn't looking at tinies at all. I had seen some Yo-SD in person and didn't like them very much, because I thought they weren't very posable or detailed, but I recently bought a Pukifee, so we'll see how that works out.

    10. I have large dolls but have run out of space to display them. I don't want my dolls to stay in their boxes so that made me rethink the whole situation. Now I'm trying the tinies. They're so cute!

    11. for me it was all about the sculpt, i fell in love with the face and the size was decided for me.
      however having her now, i don't think i'll buy an SD, she needs space enough ^^"

    12. SD and SD13 are the only two for me.
      You really need to research, research and research before deciding what to get.
      After my researching, I find out SD and SD13 size have the most attractive outfits and accessories on the marketplace, which makes me easier to dress my dolls well.
      Moreover, a small doll cant attract me because it may feels like just a toy rather than a doll. I know they are almost the same, what I mean is I'd like to feel "a thing" instead of "play them". Can you understand what I'm saying ?_?

    13. For me headmold comes first, then the type of body it goes on. I wasn't a fan of hound's body so much but I really like his face. I was feeling half and half for yosd but one of them was really cute to me so.. yeah face seems to come first for every doll I have ^^;

    14. I've always wanted to get an SD sized BJD so that was my deciding factor when I got my first one. I wanted an SD size because my Pullips and Blythes are around 25-30cm so it was rather appealing that SD size was 60cm and up. I'm not restricting myself to size now though, that's why my next purchase was a Fairyland Littlefee which is Yo-SD size. I think it would be nice to have different sizes in my collection but I haven't seen a MSD that I really like yet.

    15. The price was what decided it for me. SD were $200 more expensive so I picked something cheaper. ;n;
      I think 60CM+ is way too big for me anyway. *o*

    16. I want an SD now because they are more snug in hand (arm?) XD
      I will probably get a MSD though, just because it's easier to bring them out for a photoshoot with the DSLR and lenses and the flash I wanna get.

    17. I wanted one that would be big-ish but that I could still carry around. The SD's are just too big to carry around cons I think. But now I think I might have been bit by the tiny bug. Who knows what will happen now. XD My two MSD's might feel a little left out. XD

    18. I went for what was available to me, being a MSD, I really want a SD, one of the really cute girls!

    19. I'm not sure what size I want...maybe a mini? Not sure if I want something too big, or too small. So around the middle sounds nice.

    20. For my first bjd, the bigger the better! I think it would be generally easier to design for/sew for/knit for a very large doll. I hope this is not off topic, but are there 1/2 scale bjds out there?
