How Did You Decide Size?

Apr 9, 2007

    1. I chose a 60cm doll for costume designing. That and the exotic look you find on the more adult sculpts. She is large enough to be able to do details and not go blind in the process.

    2. i just wanted at least one in every size! XD

    3. Well in all actuality I just went with mini because that's what I heard of first, and then once I found out about the SD's and such they just seemed too expensive. Later on I found smaller and cheaper ones, but I had already fallen in love with the one I wanted to get by then.

I would love to get a bigger one, but after seeing how big MSD's are, I'm in no hurry.

    4. When I first discovered BJDs, I really had no idea about what they could look like in real, so I tried all sizes at least once and now I know that my fav. size is SD (55-62cm).

    5. I never even considered a doll smaller than SD. The other sizes are far too cutesy for my tastes, and the larger ones are not only very novel, but are simply more to put your arms around.

    6. I decided on having an MSD-sized family for my original characters because the first mold I fell for was a Little Junior (I'm ignoring the whole debate on LJ's size for now, he's a boy so he's taller than most Tinies). Hence, anyone linked to their story has to be an MSD-sized doll or it would make my Ares look like a midget or a child.

Having said that, other than the specific characters I want for that story, I'd be open to a large family as well. My character dolls, for instance, are all going to be in SD-size or Tiny-size. It just depends on how much space I have left and who fits in where.

    7. I didn't decide on a size. It just happened that the first boy I fell in love with and had to have was a 64cm beauty, so it was the mould/sculpt that sold me. I loved the size and weight of him, and I stuck with the bigger dollies. Right now all my boys are over 60cm. I want another around the same size to be a friend for Lucah, but there may be a place for a smaller boy (or two) sometime in the future. Again, it will be the sculpt that sells me.

    8. The mini dolls (Approx 45 cm) work for me. I figured I didn't want a doll that was TOO large because I didn't really have a use for such a size, and that the smaller ones would be much more practical to work with. XD Plus I also wanted to save as much money as possible so going for a smaller size to save a good 200-300 or so is just fine with me. XD

    9. For me it wasnt so much about the size of the doll but how it looked, im very attracted to the sd size doll and my E-an was the one that appealed the most. Im planning on getting another 2 possibly 3 more sd size (one of of which is a 70cm). Im not sure why but im not overly fussed by the msd size dolls but the tinies are starting to grow on me.:)

    10. MSD's are not that small :sweat not like a barbie at all :O
Yes I found out first hand I totally underestimated my boys size I think he is huge but when I stand him next to a measureing tape and mark off 60cm above him SD's are so much bigger XD Though I still want one :daisy

I choose size........just by liking the mold xD Same as I have decided I want an SD because or their molds =]
Zi, I decided to get him as soon as I saw him=]

    11. One of the things that appealed to me the most about ABJDs when I first started out was the size. They're so big, like little people. So I decided that i would only get the big ones. To me, size matters :XD:

    12. My first doll was a DolfieDream and she is very light in weight. Then I got a Sooah resin doll and was surprised at the difference in weight. The DD is like what Tyler Wentworth dolls are made of; which is a plastic. My Sooah is very heavy but I don't mind. I like the 60 cm dolls because I like to sew clothes but, I like the U-Noa dolls and Narae also. I even like the Hana dolls from Elfdoll.

    13. I have all types of sizes. I have SD sized. if I could I would get larger. I admire large sized dolls. but i also have SDC, MSD, YoSD, Rei, teeny tiny sized. I at least have one of each size. I am going for larger now. but since most of them is from volks they really interact well. it's more like an age difference than size difference. YoSD looks like a very very cute child. Since most of the them is from the same company they look like they can be related to one another. my lati white's proportion can look related to my volks dolls, Mimi is holding her. but i don't think the 2.0 unoa doll fits too well. they are more fashion doll, than a child or something. You can get any size as long as they go well together and what age you want them to be. but my preference is SD sized and YoSD's. the tinies are irresistably cute.

    14. I had this problem when choosing my doll. I ultimately chose the doll that I loved the most, and although my wallet thought it would be more practical to go for MSD size, I chose the doll I liked best. Its not a lot to do with the size, but that does help considering that I make my own doll clothes. Its hard enough making stuff small enough for a 64cm doll, I don't know how people manage to sew for MSD x_x

    15. I honestly didn't realize how big BJDs could get until a friend showed me a picture of her 70cm doll next to a Barbie doll.

Ever since then I've had a preference for the larger ones. I assume it wouldn't be as troublesome to sew clothes for larger ones also (my mother shuddered when I said I wanted to make clothes for my Taeyang). >_> I'm going to sew an 18th century coat for my doll that is not yet mine because the one I wanted at iplehouse is more than I want to pay... I refuse to have my doll wear something more expensive than my most expensive outfit! :XD: Thank god for my mom's sewing skills.

Large seems more interesting to me. And then he can't be called a glorified Barbie... He's at least the size of two Barbies! :doh I make stupid jokes...

    16. I started my collection with 12 inch fashion dolls, so I tend to lean more towards those dolls since I have several fashions and accessories for them. I tend to lean more towards the smaller ones, as they fit in a little more and I have all of my spaces set up for them.

    17. I prefer mini dolls..not too small, not too big XD Also I guess, it's a more realistic for me to save up to get a mini one n__n; Also, they look so young & cute x3

    18. Hi Catwalk! *waves*

Hehe... I didn't really choose the size. I was just wandering aimlessly through every BJD website I could get my hands on, and I ended up falling in love with the Dollshe boys. :aheartbea :aheartbea At the time, I had no real notion of the size, but I figured they'd be pretty big, just based on the price. Then I whipped out my measuring tape and put it against my leg to see the size comparison. My reaction: :o *_* ....:love

    19. Hey hun!

This was my first post I think I ever posted here. 0_o; Or one of the first. It's funny to see how far I've come since then.

And I did decide size, SDs are for me. ;)

    20. I was debating between a MNF and a Delf, and the Christmas event cause me to plunge into the larger of the two (yay free Juri head!).
