It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How Did You Decide Size?

Jun 23, 2011

    1. I had tinys, MSDs and SDs for my first set of dolls. After life changed I'm having to change my dolls too, but I learned that the 26cm dolls are going to be the best for me. In between the 12cm and 43cm is just perfect, easier to handle and not so delicate, but smaller so they can fit where MSDs can't!

    2. for me, its based purely on the sculpt. if i really like the sculpt, then i will want to buy it regardless of size (i dont think ill get anything over 70cm though, that is just a smidgen too big for me)! my first full doll will be around 68cm, but i have MSDs and other varying SD sizes on my wishlist as well ✩

    3. I like larger dolls rather then smaller dolls because I prefer the sculpts. But I would like to get my hands on a smaller girl or boy one day.

    4. For me, face sculpt and the engineering of the body matter. Size? Not so much.
If I like it, and I want it, then it could be 5cm tall or 100cm tall. (In fact, I'm currently considering buying a 100cm doll)

It's very rare that I'll like or dismiss a doll because of its size, but it does happen.

I currently own a 25cm and a 60cm-- we'll see if this answer changes once I've owned a greater range of sizes!

    5. Both of my current dolls are MSDs. I've had some Off-Topic dolls from Hujoo that were in the tiny and in the 26 cm range, but I really like MSDs because they're easier to sew for (though in their defense the tinies and 26 cm dolls are much easier to buy for!) However I'd like to buy a 60 - 70 cm doll one day, because I've never owned one before and I want to see if bigger really is better (whispers that's what she said!)

    6. Size is not the problem to me. Because now I just buy SDGR boy/girl. :dance:dance:dance

    7. I firs was introduced to dolls via Monster High customs. From there I learned they had a special larger size that was roughly the size of MSD BJD, because of that I wanted to get MSD dolls exclusively. I feel like they're a nice middle between not to large or small for me to

    8. I first fell in love with two dolls who just happened to be 70 cm, so that ended up being the first size of dolls I got. Now that I have them and have gotten to look at dolls of many different sizes, I know for certain I love the 70 cm size the best. It just feels more substantial, even if it is a bit more difficult to handle. Anything bigger is too much for me, though!

    9. I originally bought my first doll based solely on how beautiful I thought she was. Unfortunately, I didn't really understand how big she would be! I find 60cm dolls very hard to manage, pose, and play with and as a result, she was sort of a wasted purchase because I hardly ever played with her (even though I loved her). Recently, I got my hands on a 17" (43cm) Monster High doll that I've been working to customize and I am completely in love with her size. She's perfect in every way and she really sealed my conviction to pursue MSD sized BJDs. :)

    10. Hmm... my first doll was a yo because of pricing, but I actually like msds and SDs more. I hadn`t paid attention to sizes, really, and then I realized that all of a sudden I had three tinies, two yos, two msds, and five sds. :P

    11. For me it depends on where they would go in my craft room. I need more space for any SD's I have one SD and he doesn't fit my shelf ;-;

    12. I planned to buy dolls of all sizes then compare which ones I like the most. So far I think I prefer the bigger ones since they're easier to maneuver.

    13. I think price and space has the most to do with it. My first doll was a tiny, just to make sure I really liked the dolls. Of course I fell in love and ordered an MSD right away lol

    14. Davis Kunnci decided it for me! I saw him in a magazine & that's all they wrote. I didn't care what size he was I had to have him!

    15. I started by the Pullips before buying my first bjd, a realpuki soso because of his cute face. I love miniatures but it is a bit restrictive to make clothes complex so it is a favorite of the mold before everything. I would not exceed the size msd because for having seen sd at a friend it makes me strange , I see them too like mini humans it confuses me a little.
I admit sd models very beautiful and I say hardly "no". I look with pleasure your sd.
I appreciate the weight of the msd and their accessibility still possible because I like to be able to carry them easily or like my littlefee (1/6, yosd).
I prefere the mature bjd, and msd or yosd like nobledoll are my first choice . ...

    16. I prefer 1/3 size because larger avilability of clothes but i still have 1/4 one:P

    17. I was active in the modelhorse hobby. But the tiny buckles and buttons drove me crazy (everything had to function with my models). Making the stuff was not the problem, but handling did cost me about half a bar of chocolate per tacking up one horse.

So I wanted something bigger, and 70 cm dolls it had to be for me. Plus, I wanted big, strong men. And at the time, these were much easier to find in this dimension. And I still love them.

    18. I knew I wanted a doll that was big enough for me to pose and still get great anatomy from so that I could draw and paint him without worrying about the details getting lost, but I also wanted to make sure he was small enough for me to easily carry around and pose on my own to be able to photograph and reference him, too. I ended up getting a 47 cm WITHdoll Aiden and I think that's perfect at least for what I want right now. I'm definitely thinking about getting a bigger doll, though.

    19. As much as I adore quite a few sd sculpts, anything larger than an msd just isn't practical at this point in my life. I'm a student, I effectively move every nine months or so and rarely have a whole lot of space--for me, for dolls, or for anything else! I also think a yosd might be too fiddly to sew for, so msd all the way.

    20. My first doll is MSD and I think I'm going to get her a friend in MSD then move to SD. I love the small MSD size and I find a TON of clothes and shoes for her easier then I find SD clothes. I also would like to find a Puki. :)
