1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How did you first find out about BJDs?

Apr 25, 2011

    1. I was introduced to them by a senior at our school! I'd never even heard of them at the time but I've always been into dolls since I was little, so I was fascinated. Everytime I was with her I would bombard her with questions about BJD's ; where they're are made, how much they are and ect. I was shocked when I went into the first BJD site I could find, which HAD to be Volks lol. That pretty much crushed my chances of ever getting one haha. But luckily, after a unnecessarily long search, I found more affordable dolls from like resinsoul and such. After a few good weeks of bribary(jk), my parents let me get my first doll which was a Kid Delf Lemon!! squeeeeeeeeeee:aheartbeaI've had her for only two months and I'm already in search for a third doll!!:D

    2. Accidentally, few years ago. I stumbled upon someone's blog looking for something totally different and saw pictures... I needed a while to realize what I am looking at, that this person is actually a doll and not alive. I don't know how much time I spent after that trying to find out "where I can buy me something like this", I was too new to blogs to look for tags and didn't had an access to ask the blogger. There was nothing in the entry which would give me any hint, only a personal name of the doll.

I finally found what I was looking for, but was repelled by the prices and this huge variety of molds and sellers... so it took a "little" time to get my first doll (June and August of this Year)

    3. The first time I had ever seen a BJD was on Fotolog, I don't know why, I just found one fotolog, I think it posted images from DoD, and then I tried to enter their site, but, at the time I didn't know english very well and a 1000 dollars was waaaay too much money for a 14 years old girl living on Brazil.

The first time I saw one on real was when my friend (Alois Trancy, here at DoA) brought her Super Senior Delf Avalanche, a.k.a. Maximillian Gold. He and my old mold Kana got at home at the same time, hehehe! Before that, I had never seen a doll! :sweat

    4. I saw them in a magazine, can't remember what magazine it was, but after that i was hooked! They were such beautiful dolls and though i didn't know many companies at the time, i eventually learned about DollZone and found my first doll, however it was several years before i was able to save up and buy him. >w<

    5. saw someone carryinf it on the street

    6. same here.. oh and alodia gosiengfiao (danny choo's friend i think) saw their dolls posted online and I was curious. then here I am. a ball jointed doll collector =D

    7. I can't remember when I first became aware of them (it would've been in my mid-teens) but I really fell in love with them when they were featured in the doll-themed Gothic Lolita Bible.

    8. I had just finished watching a behind the scenes from "The Corpse Bride" and became fascinated with the system they used inside the characters. Me, having a super short memory, forgot what the system was called and started a random search. I wasn't all that knowledgeable in English at that time, and tried a literate translation with "ball jointed dolls" (which wasn't even close!). Oh, what a lovely accident. Didn't help much that I was already a fan of porcelain dolls... XD Gotta love the internet.

    9. I remember seeing them for the first time on Wikipedia, and then followed the links on the page to DoA - informative places to hear about them from, eh? If I remember correctly, it was probably because I was looking through various clothes and fashions and found the pages on lolita clothing.

I instantly fell in love with how beautiful they are.

    10. Like many people, I came across my first BJD on deviantART. ^^ And the first company I discovered was Dream of Doll.

    11. I just came over them on the internet when I was still in 6th grade I think.. and ever since than, I couldn't resist myself! I have always loved all kinds of dolls (stuffed animals, barbie and etc). That was just taking another step further and now I'm crazy about them ever since!! lol

    12. I started as a blythe collector, I saw these on my flickr friends' streams and now I WANT! My first one will be here in a few months and I'm so excited!

    13. Hmm... How I found out about BJD?
Well, actually I found out because of my friend's aunt. I was invited to go to Fresno and help out with the CCBJDC (2010? I think it was) which my friends aunt was hosting, it was then, I saw this magnificent dolls, because well, they were everywhere! I researched when I got home and for a while didn't then at an anime con saw a bjd clothes stand in the artist alley and talked to the lady for about 40 minutes asking her things I hadn't figured out. Not even a motnh after that I ordered my Bobobie off of Junky Spot and got to me a few days later :D

    14. Like many I found BJD's and an anime con, sadly the person who had them wouldn't talk to me about it and brushed me off, though I have never been known to back away when someone doesn't give me information. SO my loving boyfriend told me what they were and where I could go to find more out about them (ah how I love him). I was also lucky that, that night there was a BJD panel and my local group was hosting it! I got to learn about the basics with out stumbling along, and to my joy one of the girls there let me hold her doll (B&G Sky) while the panel took place. ^.^ Now I have three dollies and I've made it my mission that when someone asks about my dolls I will tell them the basics and I'll even let most hold Emily (my Bobobie), this way the ones I meet will have a good basis to go by when they start off.

    15. I was first introduced to bjd dolls when i found ooak bjd dolls on the internet. they were way too expensive. So I did a search on the internet and wow. I found asian bjds that were affordable compared to the ooaks. I am now addicted.

    16. I was looking for a way to get a stain off my daughters Madame Alexander doll, and on the site I was on it had wigs for bjd. I had no idea what a bjd was and googled it. I fell in love with them and soon found the Luts site, where I am planning on buying my first doll.

    17. My mother got me into them after I forced her to go to an anime convention and she went to a BJD panel.. she got a few and then I wanted one of my own.. after getting my amazing RS Song.. I made plans to get 4 more. :)

    18. A friend of mine has like 9 of them, so I found them out through him. I thought they were creepy and initially wanted nothing to do with them. But they grew on me and next thing I knew, I was buying one off from Yahoo Auctions Japan. =p

    19. A friend of mine bought one and at first I wasn't interested but she convinced me to look at some pictures online......and now I can't stop.

    20. I was reading a magazine while on vacation in China and I came across and article on BJDs. They were so pretty :D
