1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you first get into Dolls?

Sep 7, 2009

    1. I saw my first when I was aimlessly wondering diviantart when I came across a picture done by hiritai( http://hiritai.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d1wz8z9 ). I saw it and was stunned, the picture was so pretty, and the doll, beautiful. I instantly fell in love and had to find out where to buy one. Now, ever since then (last august) I have gone back to the websites, looking at the dolls, longing for one, until I finally bought one, a Luts Aru.

    2. The first doll I saw was a Pullip on flickr, then I saw a few Pullip owners who also had BJDs.
I think the first one was a Dollga Noella, I was impressed how pretty and realistic she looked, so I searched after informations and came across to sites like Luts and Fairyland. :D

    3. About three years ago, maybe more, I was looking for weird things to buy my sister for christmas. I typed "creepy dolls" in the search engine thinking maybe I would find one of those porcelain/baby dolls that have been made over with a goth/horror look and I found a BJD site; I can't remember which one it was but it intrigued me so much I researched the dolls and on the very next site I looked at I fell in love instantly with one of the dolls (DIM Achernar). I didn't actually buy my sister one that year for various reasons but I showed her the dolls to test the water and she bought Achenar for me as a surprise christmas present!!! That triggered it and since then we have bought many dolls for ourselves, each other and our best friend.

    4. I was at my first anime convention (four years ago today :o) and I saw one at an artist alley table. It was so beautiful, but the table was crowded and I was shy so I didn't ask about it. I didn't know what it was. Then, about... I guess almost a year ago I finally came across another on deviantart, and found out what it was and researched where to get it. And then I realized I was moneyless and I decided to give it up for a while. But then I came back to it within a few of months  Now, I'm saving for my first.

    5. I saw them first at SakuraCon, but then really wanted one after seeing Rozen Maiden a while ago. Then, now, I'm finally getting my first boy! He's due sometime next month.

    6. I saw Blythe on tv when I was in grade school, and absolutely adored them, asking my mom to get me one of those girls. Alas, she said no, so the topic was dropped. About four-five years ago when I was 14-15, I came across a Blythe icon on livejournal and my love for them was revived, and I became determined to have a girl of my own. So my aunt graciously brought me one from Taiwan on a trip. From then on, I roamed Blythe forums for a long time, then came across those adorable Lati's and CCC's. But the prices were out of my range at the time so I didn't really actively pursue BJDs...until now, when my attention shifted from fashion dolls to BJDs =P I eventually caved in and now I'm finally getting my first BJD!

    7. DeviantArt.
I saw an El dressed as Sesshomaru and went: "=0 WHAT IS THIS?!"
      xD
Research led me to the LUTS and DOD sites and eventually I found this place and shortly after, I ordered my first doll.

    8. I first saw them at an anime convention near where i live people had them. I then saw them on the website deviantart and really fell in love with them

    9. Initially, I didn't like them at all--and that's putting it nicely. A couple people I knew really liked them and had a whole bunch, but I didn't really care about them and knew very little about the hobby. Years passed, and then suddenly, completely out-of-the-blue without any warning or trigger whatsoever, I decided that I wanted one--badly--as a model for one of my regular NaNoWriMo characters.

I did a whole buttload of research and looked at all kinds of dolls, and ended up picking my first up about a month after this whole want surfaced. Now I am addicted. *_* I've got two dolls planned that are probably going to be purchased within the next month.

    10. dA; the first BJD picture I saw popped up when I opened the webpage, I clicked on the pic, and it all went downhill from there X3

    11. I had never seen or heard of BJDs in my life until I found, through a random chance, a webcomic by the name of Acrylic Eyes. I looked over the character list to see if there was any back story on the characters that I had missed (the artist had just started the series when I started reading it, so I was just making sure I didn't miss anything ^.^), and the character bios were so detailed and painted the characters with such detail, I felt something was a little different about the whole thing. So, after a few weeks of reading, I noticed she (the artist), had attached her blog to the bottom of the comments page. I usually ignore blogs because I think they're dumb but for some reason, I decided to look over hers. In the particular one I was reading, she was chronicling the changes of Seiki, who just happened to be one of the characters. Intriuged, I looked over all of the pics she added--what he looked like out of the box, his first face-up, glasses, on and on, and then headed over to the links she had posted on the site that lead to BJD stores, like Mint on Card and Parabox.

At first sight, I thought that it was a very expensive hobby, but bit by bit, I got won over by them. Now, to win over my mom...

      Sorry for the uber long post... ^_^;

    12. I was at a medieval/fantasy fair and a friend of a friend had her doll with her. My friend told me about those dolls a bit before but nothing that really caught my attention. I held the doll a few times when she needed to go somewhere, very cautious ofc, that doll was worth soooo much etx :p
Afterwards I joined in a chatroom of a dutch forum and got registered "just to look around" ... Well, it ended a bit different from what I expected.

I blame a terrible plan to make me addicted!!! xD *loves the people she knows*

    13. There were these stickers of BJDs I had, and I thought they were so pretty I got into them.

    14. I came across bjd while I was browsing the wedsite about 2 or 3 years ago.I thought these dolls were so lovely~

    15. I never knew BJDs insisted until I saw one from a Friendster friend's profile. I didn't think much about it until I found a local forum that had discussions on these dolls.. and then I visited a few websites and saw the pictures and.. VIOLA! xD

    16. As I was busily browsing the internet one day, I saw Manx Minuet of Mistula and was really like, "Wow! Pretty girl! ^^ ". Then I started research, found out that she was a BJD, got really interested, started looking for a sculpt I'll love forevermore, finally found Crobidoll Yeon-ho, fell head over heels, started saving like crazy, figured that if I'd have Yeon-Ho he should have a girl partner, currently looking for a lady for Yeon-Ho, and that's about it. ^^

    17. About four years ago, I was starting to get interested in Lolita fashion. So I was doing research on it and found a site that mentioned that some Lolitas carry around Super Dollfies. So I "google image'd" them and I saw a picture of Tsukasa Konoe.

Then I found the Volks website, then I discovered FCS. I fell in love with the idea of having one, but, thinking that there was no way I could get one, I gave up. And (I'm skipping over a few details) with a lot of determination on my part and help from my parents, I now have two FCS dolls :aheartbea

(Oh and about the Lolita thing, I dress in Lolita now too :)!)

    18. I always collected Anime Figurines from Kotobukiya and Bandai etc. But was introduced to BJDs very very late.... Only beginning of this year. Went to the Anime Convention in my country then and the authorised dealer of Angell Studio had a booth there.

I was stunned and fell in love immediately. Have always been a Manga/Anime freak. The moment I set my eyes on the AS dolls, i can imagine the various manga characters come to life. Bought AS Lucifer on the spot and have been glued to the various BJDs websites ever since then. Ordering my 4th doll soon... my dolls and DOA really brought me lotsa happiness... However, my wallet's burnt pretty badly though.

    19. my friend started talking about how she wanted to buy one, at first i was like holy cow! why the heck are they so expensive?! then i started to look into them more and i realized why they were so expensive and ended up really liking them so i bought one. Then i got a bit obsessed and bought some more xD

    20. I got involved with dolls when I was browsing dA. It's been about a few months now that I've been interested. I've always seem DenofAngels in a lot of people's "Doll FAQs" on dA. So, I finally signed up in May.

I'm unsure about what size I want of them. It seems I'm leaning into SD size as for my first doll. I still have to save up. I have no job. So, it's going to be hard! >o<;; I've also made friends who have dolls too but they're not around where I live. :< But they prefer SDs...so...I'll go with their word for that.

Good luck on getting your own doll. You well deserve it about now. I mean, gosh! 2 years!
