1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How did you first get into Dolls?

Sep 7, 2009

    1. This. This described me, exactly. XD

    2. My brother send me picture and information so as much as i found make me love them more. ^ ^
and now i have my own.

    3. xD Glad to know that I'm not the only hiritai fan on here. =P I wonder if she knows that she's actually inspired people to start up this hobby?

    4. Personally when i first saw others dolls i was like "wow nice" but does not have any intention to get them, and do not think tat i will ever want to own one since they need lots of care and $$.

It was few months ago where i somehow found DOD website, and started to have the urge to adopt one. I enjoy looking at others doll, but i guess only DOD dolls make me really fell in love with them. And that how i start to look through lots of tutorials on how to take care of dolls and stuff. And start to save money to get a doll~.~

    5. That's the company I first fell in love with too ^^ Their dolls were really pretty!

Basically I first learned about BJD's from my friend and from people I saw in other anime conventions.

    6. As for me...I was searching for "lolita" on ebay in high school hoping to find some cute clothes and clicked on an auction for an SD Nana in a gothic lolita outfit, thinking that it was for a dress. I saw the dollfie and showed my sister. She fell in love instantly and it's taken me 5 years to finally follow suit and get in on the BJD action. I guess I can attribute it all to random chance!

    7. I saw them at an anime convention:)
It took some time for the interest to blossom, but now I'm totally into it!^^

    8. a few years ago at my first anime convention i saw BJDs but didnt know what htey were it was because of some really nice DOA members and other BJD owners did i fully understand what htey were then months and months of looking and finaly falling in love with DOD, Iplehouse, and luts. and a fw other scant molds. All I know is that my hobby list seems to grow and my wallet get thinner and thinner. Still im saving for a body for my Domuya saisha head.

    9. Two and half years ago, maybe, I saw one at my friends house. Then, I didn't think that they're awesome. I was just like, "Okay, a doll." And year later, I saw a new doll. Then I thought that it was cool. And then she moved and I was once in month at her new home. And every time I started to like dolls more and more. And now I have my own. xD

    10. I been drooling over bdj for years before got my first one :P I got her as gift from friend . Now i can finally enjoy it fully!!

    11. I first saw a BJD on DeviantArt in 'deviations submitted in the last ___ seconds' fell in love with them and that was it, I started saving from then. :)

    12. A friend told me about it and showed me his, and with time I decided to have one! ^^

    13. I saw them on ebay and did the research.

    14. It was because of a friend of mine who had started collecting bjd's a few years ago. Though all of hers are the larger variety and very pretty, I'd always just thought they were kind of neat and was content with just watching her make clothes and fix up wigs for them. But over time I'd stumbled across Onnawufei's page on DA, saw her Pukisha photos, and that was that.

    15. As I said in another thread of this nature, I blame Brightfires for posting up pics of her dolls on RPG.net forums Tangency board and getting me hooked.

Yes, it has taken me four years to get around to ordering a girl doll, but it was her who sowed the seed in me, and it is her that I blame... ;)

      Phil.

    16. Wikipedia. No kidding. They linked to the Super Dollfie article in the Gothic Lolita article. The Super Dollfie linked to the Volks store.

      I've been hooked ever since.

    17. I found dolls though my love for sewing.

    18. My friend saw one at an anime convention :) She fell in love with them, and while deciding what doll she was going to get, ect, ect, I fell in love with them too.

    19. Just in chinese forums, people used to have BJD as avatar pics

    20. im not really sure when i found out about ABJDs, really o_o

ive always been fascinated by doll joints. the appearance, the movement, everything. i grew up with lots of barbies, like most little girls, and i hated how theyre legs only snapped at the knees, and generally only ever moved in a set angle at the hips and shoulders.

later in life, barbies began to improve, and they had balljoints at the shoulders (armpits more like) and a few barbies had joints at the elbows (finally.... though sadly i never owned one with those.) and i was thrilled! but... well... they never got more joints than that before i stopped liking barbies and moved into my tomboy stage (lasted from age 7 to age 13, then i became girly once more)

i think i discovered BJDs through one of my old lolita friends in a VK-centered cult on VF (its just a group, not an actual cult. VampireFreaks calls their group functions 'cults')
