1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. So I'm way, way in the minority... but I do wear a pair of cotton gloves when changing my dolls' outfits or posing them a lot for photo-shoots. I don't find them restricting at all, and it gives me peace of mind :)

    2. My hands are so clean from (excessive, maybe :sweat) washing, that I feel no need to use gloves. And actually, I find the idea handling them with gloves slightly alarming - maybe it's because I have small hands most gloves are too big and cumbersome, I think I would fumble helplessly about if I wore glowes while handling dolls, and, because the grip wouldn't be as tight as without the gloves, I'd be sure to drop one of the dolls eventually *shudders at the thought of dropping them*
However, I do have a habit of never touching my dolls when I'm ill, because no matter how much I'd wash my hands, they always feel dirty when I have a cold or something, so maybe a pair of gloves wouldn't be such a bad idea after all, under those special circumstances... hmmm, now there's a thought... *ponders*

    3. I put gloves on whenever I take off their heads, or change their eyes-- any time I'm going to be touching their faces. I've got a lot of LE faceups in the house, and some of them did get a little bit too loved too soon in the early days. Nowadays, all I do is remind myself to stop being a lazy ass, pick up just that one glove, and put it on. I don't like wearing it, but sometimes I order myself verbally, to enforce the habit. Since I take off their heads to change their clothes, I'm pretty used to it now.

It is a good habit to get into if you have faceups that you want to keep nice. Takes just a second and keeps things safe. If you paid good money for a painting, why not protect it?

But the rest of the time, like when I'm photographing them or just hanging out - no gloves! No face-touching, no gloves needed.

    4. you caught me. I have all kinds of unprotected playtime with my doll. It just doesn't feel right with a glove.

    5. :lol:Funny word useage! I agree with most people as long as your hands are clean then using gloves is a little overkill. But it still kinda makes me nervous!

    6. Nah, I'm paranoid, but NOT that paranoid. I wash my hands ALL the time[everytime I touch something? Yeah... I'm abit of a neat freak] so I'm not afraid of anything getting on them and I barely touch their faces. I positioned their heads with their ears XD

    7. Nope. I wash my hands a lot, but I would never wear gloves to hold my doll....
I wouldn't anyway, but one good reason I don't like wearing gloves at all is my freakishly little hands.... Gloves don't fit them and I don't wear them unless I'm dying something (even then I sometimes don't, bad me!)

    8. no i dont wear gloves when i hold my boy. i usually make sure my hand is clean before i hold him

    9. I do wash my hands before touching my dolls and using my computer. My dolls were bought to be played with but not abused in anyway but never really thought about wearing gloves to be honest, don't think I'll think about wearing gloves now.

    10. I usually wash my hands before playing. If I'm outside with my doll, I always bring a hand sanitizer with me..better safe than sorry

    11. No, but i amd static about washing my hands before and during handling, depending on how long im holding him or sweaty my hands are getting.

    12. I've never even thought of wearing gloves. I think it's a little funny that people won't bring their dolls out without protective faceplates. I've never had my doll's faceup get scratched and his hard little plastic fingers have scraped across it enough times. As well as tree branches and other things that can pop up unexpectedly.

    13. I have white cotton quilter's gloves I use when I have certain types of nail polish on. I started using them when I found I was leaving streaks on my dolls as I was CLEANING them, ugh.

    14. I have to use hand cream for dry hands so I just make sure I do that at night after my doll is put away for the evening. During the day I don't use protection.

    15. I used to think BJDS were really fragile, but now that i own one, they can be very sturdy. In fact, even though you are not suppose to touch the faceup, i wanted to test how durable they were, since i could always sand and paint if i did damage it, and frankly, the faceups are durable as well if done correctly. I could not remove even a pigment of aurora's factory faceup with lots of scuff tests. However, her nose is what I am most worried about, since it will for sure be damaged if i drop her.

    16. Personally, I simply wash my hands before holding my doll. Is it "enought" or cause damage on the resin ?

    17. I also never use gloves, although I wish I could when I do face-ups. Even if I wash my hands with soap, it eventually gets smudgy >_o When I play with my dolls I try to avoid their faces - the rest of their bodies are cleaned easily as none of them are blushed.

@Petitepuce28: washing your hands is a good idea, if you rinse it well, because some soaps contain oil to hydrate the skin. But, I don't remember soap being dangerous to resin.

    18. I wouldn't be so sure--my doll fell face-first onto concrete and was fine. The only time his nose has been damaged was when I accidentally hit his nose on an iron trellis ;A; But it's so subtle that I'm probably the only one who even knows. >>

    19. Pete, how do you clean your body / resin ? I have heard about a special sponge ? is that it ?

    20. You're probably talking about Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. It seems almost everyone uses them to clean their dolls. The sponge itself is made of cleaner so you just wet it and scrub gently. I've even had to clean my boy's face with one after a face-up and I was worried it would take it off cuz I had to scrub sorta hard (he got some green smudgey stuff on one half of his face somehow and I wanted to try to get it off without stripping the whole face-up) but it didn't. Got whatever the green was off, though.
