1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you carry your dolls?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. I have a totebag that I carry my LTF, 1/6th and two Pukis in :)

    2. Wow, this thread has been so helpful! Thank you, everyone!!
I've been worried because I only have one doll right now, and I just carry him in my messenger bag with his cushions, or else carry him around in my arms. But now I have my second doll on the way and I don't think I can fit BOTH in my messenger bag, much less in my arms... XD
My sister and I are now discussing how to modify a rolling suitcase for our dolls. =]

    3. I was in the middle of making a bag for mine. This thread helped me a lot actually! Thanks everyone!

    4. i dont get enough strength to carry two bjds....its like 3KG, and camera and water and other stuff ect ect..

the best way maybe is to bring a donkey as well.

    5. Short answer: I don't.

Long answer: In general if I'm going to be taking the boys somewhere with me I limit it to two dolls only. I am extremely paranoid and picky about face-ups rubbing off of their getting mussed up, so I really dislike putting more than one doll in a soft carrier bag. I actually don't even like putting any of my boys in soft carrying bags and I'm slowly working on upgrading them all to hard-shelled cases where they will be much more protected. As it is however, only Fyedka currently has his violin case that I'm shifting into a carrier for him, so he's pretty much the only one I feel safe toting around (which is ironic seeing as he's too delicate for me to take out much anyway).

If it's something like a long trip where I have to take them between homes or something, I fit them all as carefully as I possibly can in the two boxes that Prince and Basil came with, since that will protect them, but obviously not good for meet-up type purposes. Right now it's pretty simple since three of my 'dolls' are just heads and don't take up much room, but once they all gain their bodies I know they'll take up more space and I'll have to really invest in better carriers.

I know to have such a bias against soft cases is kind of silly, but I just don't fully trust them with my boys. Yes, for now they work in the short term, and sometimes I'll even carry a doll in my large bookbag, but I much prefer hard back cases which can be kind of limiting to only one doll per case due to size and weight. I'm hoping to invest/create cases that will be able to carry two or three at a time, but I won't compromise keeping them protected for the sake of being able to take them all with me to meet-ups. I'd prefer they stay at home and remain undamaged than risk taking them out for a few hours. It's easier to watch one or two than four or five anyway.

    6. I found a rolling yarn case at Tuesday Morning the other day. It's like one of those rolling scrapbooking stations, has the handle and wheels and is a little deeper than the average rolling suitcase. My two SDs and two MSDs fit in it with room to spare, if I scrunch them up. It's not hard-bodied, I wouldn't use it for heavy travel, but for a meet-up, I think it will do. And it was only $20.00!

    7. While I don't have any of their luggage myself, I recently visited a Cabela's store (www.cabelas.com), and was amazed by their duffel bag/luggage collection. If you're looking for something sturdy, maybe check them out? They also have bags that are going on three feet, so if you need a big one... :)

When I get a doll, I definitely think that I'm going to look into them again.

I like this thread; it's very interesting!

    8. I have a Volks SD carrying case that can fit two SD's or three MSD's but....when doing photoshoots around town outdoors, we take a classic little red wagon that's been rigged with a PVC pipe frame to form a canopy to protect them from the sun. ;D

    9. If I'm only taking 2 or 3 out with me, they can all fit in the DoD bag (have MSDs and smaller) with their pillows and face covers to protect them even more. But if I'm bringing them all out like the anime convention this weekend (like the crazy person I am) or a huge local meet up, I transport them in a couple of the boxes. The MSD boxes are nice as two MSDs can fit in the box with a couple pukis in there with them. Then the two Yos can fit in the MSD box without any problem. And since I have 3 MSDs now, one automatically gets put in the DoD carry bag. So two boxes and 1 carry bag for 8 dolls isn't all that bad when you think about it.

    10. I have a duffle bag I got for free from work, and Jay gets curled up into a ball and is stuffed unceremoniously in there with a blanket around her. Works pretty well, no damage so far, and when Rat visited, he fit in there too. Lirael came with a pink pillow-like zipper case, and she gets tucked in there, and is carted around in my Ro-Ho-En Japanese Friendship Garden bag. Works pretty well. When I get Galdara and Mistoph, though, it's going to get crowded in the Ro-Ho-En bag. XD Jay's spoiled and gets to keep her bag to herself. XD

    11. If you're going on vacation, or anywhere on a plane, you might try taking off the heads, putting their well-wrapped heads in a purse or other small bag that fits under the seat in front of you, and leaving their bodies in your luggage. Depcapitated, most 60cm dolls can stretch out in a carry-on.

    12. I stroll mine around in a baby stroller xD

    13. There are three here but for me, I carry the one I want seen the most with me around in my arms and that happens to be Konrard. :) My other dolls are put into a carrying type bag.

    14. I had a friend make me a huge bag (3'x8"x8"). I've had as many as three dolls in there at a time. The weight is a bit much though so I try to do only one or two in there at a time. I had her make it because my 70s and 80 weren't happy about their legs sticking out of the bag for my 60. She made it extra big so I'd have room for pillows, extra outfits and shoes, my camera...Hurray for the luxury size bag!

    15. Well I have made a few cases in the past all that worked pretty well but were only meant for one doll some times two at a time.

I am working on a case to take LOTS of SD/MSDs in. I want a Hard case so I think I am starting with a hard shell suite case and modifying it. If theres a market for the single, double and large cases I would consider making some as commissions I guess.. I will let you know how it turns out.

AS for commercially..Well the dollmore case carry 3 to 4 dolls but thats about it.. the Gun cases are nice but $$$$ for a case that will only hold a few and is long and awkward.

    16. sheer brilliance! I have been debating how to bring my delphine with me overseas, and this has been one of the best suggestions! (especially since I am still pretty bad with restringing) thanks for sharing that method^^

    17. If you are looking for a way to use things around the house instead of buying a carrying case, towels work really well, just roll each doll up in a large towel and then put them in a large duffle bag or other type of bag. I only have 2 BJD's and they aren't that large, but I also collect Himmies, which can be as large as 36" and this has been a great way to protect them when traveling with them.

      Hope this helps.

    18. wow lot's of cool way of carrying dolls...
i'm looking for one to fit with me ' o '//

    19. rolling book bag for the msds. i carry the sd in my arms, and all the tinies fit in my purse in a waist sash rolled up. i call it my tiny burrito. XD. renfaire. i bring the wagon.

      i have 1 70cm
      4 msd
      and 2 many tinies XD

    20. I not sure if I be able to carry more than two, I'd carry Lux and Yuu in my arms but since I am one with attention span of rat carrying more than one may not be best choice for me X'D
