How do you carry your dolls?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. Just wondering how people like to carry their dolls at Gogadoll or any other doll convention.
Do you carry them in a bag? Simply hold them? In a basket? I saw one person last year at Dollectable with a whole wagon full of gorgeous men that she pulled around.
I saw another person with a very cool front chest carrier which left his/her (don't remember which, oops) hands free.
It would be nice if you could somehow velcro them to your shoulders so they could sit there like a parrot - obviously that wouldn't work for the bigger dolls, lol!

      Any ideas?
Seems like you will want people to see your doll(s), but also you need your hands free for looking at things.

    2. I plan on making a case to keep my doll safe when I'm not showing him off, otherwise I would just let him sit in my arms ^-^

    3. There are no doll conventions close to where I live (with a few exceptions, and the one that's planned for next year) so I don't know how I would carry them around at a specific doll convention. But at anime/sci-fi/fantasy conventions, primarily I keep them in the hotel room and only bring them out for meet-ups ... usually using their travel duffel bag I made especially for them. I cosplay, so carrying them around all day while in costume is not an option.

... Personally the whole wagon/stroller/baby carrier method is a little ridiculous to me, but that's just my own taste.

    4. Haha, yeah I think that's over doing it a little, but hey, if that's how they want to do it ^-^

    5. I have been thinking about his too. I do wish I owned a doll carrier case. I will just hold my doll once I am at the Goga but I need to put her in something to get from the car to the Goga. I dont want to carry my doll on the street. Too many people, too easy to loose stuff. I did see someone with a baby type carrier, and it made me chuckle. Not in a bad way. I want to get one of those double dollmore cases.
And I remember the wagon as well but they had a ton of dolls all boys if I remember correct. It was very cool to see so many dolls.

    6. I was actually going to make a thread about this too. I'll be going to a con at the end of July and was actually wondering for those that carry their dolls around if they take off socks and shoes so they don't get lost. I don't know how securely they stay on and I'd hate to lose them. I'm thinking just carrying the shoes in a pocket and then putting them on when I take pictures.

I need to make a bag since the ones that I've seen online that I like are out of stock XD

    7. I would just carry mine around, unless there was a situation in which she could get dirty. Then, I would place her comfortably in my purse.

    8. I just carry it around on my arm while it sits their~ although i do suggest you bring some sort of carrier cause after a while, it can get pretty tiring :sweat

Lucky: as for the socks/shoes issue, she was wearing long black boots that were laced up heavily XD so i didnt have a problem, someone else their had the strap-on/belt-type dollmore shoes and they seemed securely fine as well...

    9. I remember last year this really nice couple brought a red wagon and toted all their dolls in it. It was SO cute! I usually just carry one around all day cradled in my arm and have my hubby assist if I need to make a purchase. I know full well my arms will get quite a work out though! I have a nice doll carrier I plan on bringing as well for bringing to and from.

    10. I didn't have a doll at the time, but when I went to Acen last month, I saw people just carrying around their dolls in their arms. That way they were able to show 'em off (ex: I saw a SD doll with Soom Euclase's hawk legs on... and I think I've seen the user on here, too! Don't remember her username, though...). That's how I plan to carry my dolls at Acen, unless I have like 2 or 3 I want to show at a meet-up, in which case they'd sit comfortably in a carrier. :3

    11. I plan to have a chair/throne for my boy to sit on (I'm hoping to get a couple others soon) when he's at the table and to carry him around, I will have his box and likely have a bag to put him in so that if I'm in a hurry (as I run panels and such) people won't keep stopping me so they can see my boy... It's flattering at first, of course, but when you have a panel that you're running and you have about 1 minute to get to it, it's difficult...

    12. I don't have a doll yet, but I have seen quite a few people at Akon and AnimeFest with BJDs. =) I saw one woman in her 20s wearing a light pink lolita outfit and she had a close to matching vintage baby carriage she was pushing her 6 dolls in. She also used the bottom of it to store pocky, manga and other finds she ran across at the convention, it seemed like the coolest idea! ^_^

Then I saw another woman who had a little pull-behind wagon that she decorated up like a float and added little steps to it with boxes covered with colorful paper which she had a bunch of little chairs on and stuff for her dolls to sit in. It was kind of like a dollie-float, basically. ^_^ It was really creative of her - the little step things made it where each doll was on perfect display without one being hidden behind another.

Here's a picture like the type of baby carriage that one pink lolita woman had:

Although her basket was white and the lacey part was light pink and it had an underneath compartment sort of thing. =X I'm so bad at explaining things, I'm sorry.

    13. I wonder if a DoT would fit in the small dog carriers (bag ones) if they were sitting with bent knees? I'll have to check them out too.

    14. *gasp* That's a good idea! My grandma has one she doesn't want, I could easily ask her if I could use it!

    15. And now I have a fashionable black handbag with cushion and pottibly a blanket to cover my Morant! I know the seller is awesome for making custom carrier bags: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25973545 this is the bag I have, and she has a hot-pink one, it comes with bow, blanket with embroidered name and custom fabrics, bag, and collar thing, which wouldn't be necessary for a doll, but it's a dog thing...

    16. While at the con, most will carry their dolls in their arms; that's really the fun of a BJD convention--visiting with the dolls and their owners.

But definitely, walking outside on the streets, I always place my doll(s) in a bag of some kind, a doll bag or any other bag that covers them. My reasons 1) protected from the sun, 2) kept clean and 3) I just don't want to deal with looky-loos.

I don't always use a doll bag either. Sometimes I just grab a bag that's roomy enough and off we go. On longer trips, I tend to use a doll bag for the added protection.

Be creative--any bag that fits your kidz comfortably and has padding is fine.

    17. My friend and I managed to buy some Dollmore carrying bags last week, and they arrived two days ago. :whee: They're adorable, and so convenient! :) So, we'll be carrying our babies that way. However, we're only bringing one doll, so the bag is ideal.

Dollmore does have double-carrier bags, but obviously, it's too late to order some for GoGaDoll.

I also will carry her around in my arms, if need be. Don't want her to be stuffed inside a bag the whole time! :aheartbea

    18. At anime conventions most people I have seen carry them in their arms. One girl was sitting on the floor and her man was sitting next to her.

    19. im not going to goga:( but i made my own carying bag for a meet last weekend. it worked great, I caried her in the bag/bog till i got to where we were meeting and then pulled her out and carried her in my arms while we walked aroiund.

    20. That was us and the wagon will be making an apearance again cause my eyes are bigger than my arms are strong! Not everyone will be coming but I have big dolls that are heavy and have big feet, I DO NOT want to carry them the entire weekend! LOL
