How do you carry your dolls?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. I just carry my dolls in my arms. But I remember last year at Kumoricon my arms got tired and I carried them both in a plastic bag(bad idea):sweat

    2. I carry my Corelynn in my arms, unless I'm cosplaying then I'd have her in the hotel room so she won't get dropped.

    3. At the con I went to with Citlali.. I just kinda held her in mah arms, as if like cradling a puppy. You know? Lol. But that seriously began to make my arm hurt.. So I would just hold her different ways and what not. But in mah arms all teh time.
      My friend always puts her on her shoulder.. XDD

    4. I usually only bring one doll at a time to conventions and hold them in my arms. I'm used to working one handed at work, I usually have a wiggly puppy or an upset cat in one arm and am writing like mad with the other. :)

      I'll put a boy on my shoulder if I'm looking at something and standing still, but not walking, I could see myself letting him slip down my back on accident. Then I'd be that crazy girl crying on the floor at con and no one wants that sad fate.

    5. *_* I still dont knoooww *spazz* Im still trying to figure out how im gonna lug around (affectionatly named) "Mammoth butt" at Otakon x3; I dont have the strength to carry him all day. I tried once at an Art Gallery for 2 hours and my arm KILLED me ;_; Hmm....Perhaps a stroller XD;

    6. didn't go to Gogadoll...but at Anime Boston I carried my girl around 90% of the time, but I had a tote bag just in case I wanted to give my arm a rest and for the subway ride back and forth. When we were sitting around I just had her sitting or standing in front of me.

    7. I've never taken my boys to a convention, but the local doll group has meets every couple weeks, and most of those are at least an hour out of town for me, on the bus.
      So, for transportation there and home I have one of these http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=6484
      on a wheeled luggage carrier. At the meets, I'm awfully fond of carrying one of my boys with me. Dante, my Yder is light enough to comfortably rest in my arms, so he's most often cradled in one arm, with his legs over my hand and his back tucked into my elbow, his weight against my chest.
      Jorryn, my Ducan is a bit heavier, so if he's held in my arms, it's usually the same way, or I'll lower my arm down and set his butt on my hip as I'm standing. I find this works best for me, and I can carry him without worrying because even lookie-loos on the street have to get past my arm, and thus, invade my personal space to touch. :|
      Of course, these are both 60cm+ dolls, so I'm not sure how something smaller would work.

    8. When I took Tae-Jun to Anime Central, I bent his knees and had him in a sitting position in the crook of my elbow. I had to keep switching him from one arm to the other though since that fatty started to hurt my arm after a while! *_*

      I kind of want to carry someone around on my shoulders sometime. xDD

    9. I carried my doll in my arms when I was at a con. It was quite nice and I never once felt like it would bring any harm to my doll. I was a very plesant experience and it didn't hurt to much to carry her around.

    10. I been to two conventions multiple times since I got my dolls (need to go to a BJD only con one of these days) and I always feel out the con before I start bringing the dolls out.

      Since I'm an Anime Central vet, I know what I can handle walking around. I can have one with me to be able to juggle, but this year I changed to using my carrier bag to transport them. I had Dollheart outfits and had their wigs styled so it was VITAL that they not be messed with while walking around with thousands and thousands of people. Plus even with me being careful as can be they still got dirty! Still trying to figure out how the heck that happened.

      At the furry con, I only have one with one at anytime. I usually hold them as I would a baby keeping their faces turned towards me. I did pretty good last year with that. The furry outfit was to die for ^^.

      If I went to a doll con and could have a stroller, you best believe I'd use it. The cons I go to don't allow such a thing as there too many people and it becomes a safety issue.

    11. i dont think we have any doll cons or anything near me. but i could just imagine carrying my girl slung over my shoulder, bumm first to the world, like a fireman! lol

    12. I just have one doll so I'll be carrying her at Otakon like I do wherever else I take her which is sort of perched on my right forearm.

      Not sure how many dolls I'll have by next year (at least two, as there's one on the way) and I'd probably use a small basket for them since they're both MSD sized and so I can have them out and still keep a watchful eye.

    13. I'll be taking my doll to Abunai this year. Abunai is a dutch anime/manga/Jpopculture convention and I'll probably be carrying him around in a blanket around my chest. He's an SD so he's pretty large and heavy to keep in my arm all day and evening. Anyway, he'll be kind of lounging in a hammock, as long as he won't peak under my clothes that is :P

    14. Either carry them in my arms, or in a carrier. Mizzy is actualy big enough to sit on my shoulders so she's straddling my neck, with hands on my head. So long as my hands are on her legs she's pretty stable that way.
      And for anime cons I try to blend them into my cosplays... like, for the Lulu from FFX cosplay planned, I'm going to make that odd purple flower baby carrier she has at the end.

    15. I'm taking my incoming Soom Glot to Asylum 4 (Supernatural convention in the UK) and I'll be using her Soom carry bag when travelling, but walking around the con I'll either carry her in my arms or pop her in my bag with her face protector on. She's only small so it shouldn't be an issue.

    16. I didn't make it to GoGaDoll this year (not enough $$$), but last year at Dollectable I made a sort of chair/jerrypack thing. It strapped across my shoulders over my chest, with my boy (and later in the show my girl too) sitting face-forward . They were completely open for show, held in place with a little seatbelt. It left my hands completely free and they didn't get too heavy, and a simple click of the belt and they were out to try on clothes! The best part was that I could walk around, sit comfortably, and still let my kids be seen. I used the same carrier when I went to Disneyland with my 55cm boy Rylin and it was extremely convenient and gave him extra security on rides!

    17. I saw that last year! You had a 55 cm Obitsu Gretel-head boy, right? I thought it was very cool - you should patent it and sell them!

    18. Most of the time here, I carry them around in my arms. Because though it happens, I don't like the idea of them being in bags unless they gotta be. ^_^;

      When I went traveling, I brought my SD13 around in a transparent shoulder bag so I could still see him through the plastic. ^o^

    19. Yeah, that was me and my boy! Once I get the design perfected, I might. But I don't know if there'd be much interest.... My Obitsus are a lot lighter than other resin dolls and I don't know if it would be as comfortable. Also, if I'm not careful Rylin's feet wil bump into things; it usually just turns his ankle a bit.... I'm still working on that.

    20. Well, there are a lot of Obitsu fans out there- you might sell them on Junkyspot. I personally have...let's see: 2 modded 60 cms, a 47 Angela, and three 50 cm bodies. I thought it was a very clever way to carry your doll.

      I stuffed mine into a hobo/sling type bad this year, and it worked fine, except their hair got really messed up. I don't like to carry them in my arms because I like my hands free to look at things, esp since sometimes the tables can get really crowded.
