1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you carry your dolls?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. If it's a big, huge, busy con that is non-dolls except for having a meetup in one area at one time (such as the San Diego Comic Con)... I'll keep my dolls safe in a carrier!

Otherwise, I'll just carry ONE around with my hand or arm... usually gripping with my hand or arm to make sure I don't accidentally drop him/her or get knocked into, etc. Better safe than sorry.

I'm not too into cradling my doll since, with a girl, anyway, that can rumple her dress!

    2. I have a semi-bigger purse (it just LOOKS big on me, people tease me about it, but it's just because I'm small :( ) that Alice (MSD size) fits in if I put her in like a sitting type position. Then I wrapped her in Fleece and put her in my purse and took her to MTAC in Nashville.

A friend of mine put hers in a tote type shoulder bag from the con the other day when we were shopping. He was SD and his head just poked out from the bag, it was halarious!

But I love the Pram (Victorian baby buggy) idea!! My mom is a doll collector and since I'm short... I can use one of the doll prams maybe...

    3. if i go somewhere i only take one doll with me and i cary her/him in my arm, but i am planning on looking for some kind of buggy so i can take more than one with me!

    4. This weekend, I carried two SDs around Otakon for the entire day in my duffel bag, which also held my DSLR camera and a day's worth of food. I've learned to never do that again. XD A 20-pound bag and 7+ hours of walking? Apparently it's too much for my 100 pound, 4'11", pansy self.

    5. I've never been to a Dollfie convention but I think I'd get a plastic flexible carry case and sew it into the front of my outfit. Then hands woud be free but Dollfie is secure & visible. I found some Dollfie sized handcuffs but there was no attachment for my wrists!

    6. I want to get a sling, like the type people carry babies in but smaller...the ones that look like just a strip of material that goes over your shoulder and around the front (not sure if I'm explaining it well?) I'm wondering if I can find something like that? I think that would be a good way to carry them because you can have your hands free but still have the doll be visible unlike if they're in a bag.

    7. I carried Lillith in my arms at Anime North, and when my arm got tired, I put her in my purse. :D

If I have more than one, I have a gym bag type carrier for them, and each one gets wrapped individually.

    8. (sry if there is already a thread, but I couldn't really find one)

So how DO you carry your doll around safely? I don't have one yet but she should be here in a week or so, and I'm probably going to end up taking her everywhere with me. So what's the best way? in your arms, a bag, other??? *_*

I've heard bad stories of people getting their doll messed with by people, but I'd never have the heart to leave her at home~ I'm only 14 so I doubt people will mess with me, but I need help on what to do so I don't damage her :) (if you haven't guessed I'm a paranoid, worry wart when it comes to some things)

    9. thank you~ ehh sry I'm really bad at looking for things *newbie*

    10. Not really a debate topic :) But I use a padded yoga mat bag for my SD-sized dolls, it's secure and fits over my shoulder :)

    11. Amarok: SHUNNNNN THE DISRESPECTFUL. Nah, kidding. You're not the only one. ^_^

I usually haul Shan around either in the crook of my arm, or I just plop him on my shoulder, either perched like a parrot or with a leg either side of my neck like a kid riding my shoulders to see up high.

If I don't want to disturb his hair, I'll just grab him by the waist and carry him that way, like a baguette or something. XD

    12. I carry Callahan, my B&G Sapphira, in a sitting position with my hand under his bum. I hold him close to my body so that he sort of leans against my chest and abdomen area, which takes some of the pressure off my wrist.
Lainie, my Soom Glot, gets held around the waist in one hand, since she is so tiny. :)

    13. I carry my boy a bit strangely I guess. I sit his bottom on the bend of my arm and wrap my hand around the soles of his feet. He's supported by my upper arm and shoulder and it's how I feel most comfortable with him.

    14. Well, I don't have a big doll yet! However, I tend to carry Allura (my teeny-tiny; 11cm) cupped gently in my hand... Sometimes I drape her arms over my finger, and sometimes I tuck her tail between my fingers too~ I like to tuck her tail between my fingers because I feel like it's more secure. Typically I bend her legs so it looks like she's sitting nestled into my hand. :kitty2

    15. Well, I carry my Kal like how one carries a toddler, he sits on my arm while slightly leaning on my shoulder, though making sure his face doesnt rub against my shirt.

The guy is quite heavy, its nay impossible for me to carry him by one hand and not have it slightly shaking (and ache) in a couple of minutes.
If I need to grab him off the floor, I use both my hands and lift him off by the underside of his armpit, like a baby, lol.

    16. If I'm walking around, I carry Kori in the crook of my arm, its easy since he's an MSD. If not I usually lay him in a dolly sling I made...only if I'm walking for a while and have to carry things besides him though.

But If I'm walking around my house or my friends house...this is going to make me sound like a bad owner. :sweat

      a) I'll toss him up over my shoulder
      b) I'll just hold him around the waist and carry him with my arm hanging limply at my side, (if that makes sense)
      c) Or I'll just carry him by both of his hands...only for a little while though. >.>;;

I would NEVER do that to someone else's doll though, I'd only carry the doll in whatever way that the owner instructed.

    17. Shinta is sitting on my arm pretty often when we're going out to events. But most of the time he's sitting in a fleece carrying blanket like a little baby. I made this for LARP actually as one of my characters had adopted a baby, and another one got pregnant. But for an SD it's also very useful. It's like a hammock for him to take a nap when he's had enough for a while or wants to keep out of the rain. He can also see everything when he pops his head out :)

    18. i use a Nike big long bag (not doll carrier), big enough to contain my doll. when my doll sits up, his head will be shown. This will prevent ppl touching him and hugging him, however other ppl still can view my doll's pretty face up, and not damaging my boy.

    19. These dolls aren't as fragile as some people seem to think ^^; They are made from a very strong material, and you'd need to stress even a thin piece a lot before any damage would be done. As long as the face-up is covered with a mask so it's not rubbed away, the smaller/thinner parts (elf ears, fingers, nose etc.) are protected and the doll is padded so it can't bang about in the mode of storage, you're pretty safe.

I usually take mine around in a luggage case on wheels. Inside there are pillows all around to pad them, and straps to hold them in place. Nothing that cost a fortune or I had to buy specially from a doll shop. I use clean socks to keep my boy's hooves banging together as they're so heavy. althought, once they're blushed something with a non-absorbant surface would be better for that.

      Not really a debate topic as I can't see people arguing about it mind you ^_^;
