Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How do you carry your dolls?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. Today I'm going to a meet at our local mall, unfortunately its just after black friday so I'm worried about him getting bumped or messed with if i carry him around, I may invest in a scrapbooking rolling tote, Mars is a 70 CM BBB/RS Long so he would be hard to fin in a back pack, I may have to carry him but we'll see.

    2. If the weather is less than stellar I carry Masato in a bag, though he barely fits and I would love to get a carrier for him....

But mostly I carry him around sitting in the crook of my left arm, resting on my hip, knees bent. Just like he was a real kid, lol.

    3. That's actually my signature...ehehe

    4. I carry them diferents ways. Sometimes in the crook of my arm if i'm only carrying one. If not, I carry them a bit like a tedy bear. I don't feel them safe sitting in the crook of my arm if I don't have any hand free...

    5. It depends, really. Sometimes she sits on my arm and sometimes I carry her around the waist. Usually she's perched on my arm if I'm carrying something else.

    6. I cradle my dolls when i carry them any where. I want to make sure they stay as protected as possible. O:

    7. A friend or mine and I like to put the on our shoulders ^-^ kinda like when your dad puts you up on his shoulders and we hold their hands so they dont flop over.

    8. Depending on what I'm doing ill have Cyrus in his case, or I carry him shinku style. If I'm moving from upstairs to downstairs I usually just hold him around the stomach. Now with Pandais with me one goes in the carrier, the other usually is carried shinku like. C:

    9. It really depends. C: I have mostly small-er dolls (1 msd, 2 soom tinies) so, it's hard for me to just keep them on my arms haha.

My msd though usually sits on my arm. n.n Generally with his legs facing in and head/body looking to the side/wherever he's comfortable.

My tinies usually just get carried in my hand. Either cradled as though in a leaned back chair, or simply held around the waist because my hands are more than large enough haha.

    10. i didnt see this posted up anywhere so forgive me if it is. i try to go to anime cons a lot and i want to take my boy with me but im not sure how to do it. what do you guys do when you go out with your dolls. carry them with you, have a pouch or something or carry there box?

    11. For me, it depends on the doll and or the situation. If my doll is smaller (MSD and tinier), I will most likely cary them in my arms. If the doll is more fragile or has a lot of protruding adornments to their costume or look, then I will probably carry them in a case for protection. If my dolls is "scary" or has attributes that can be related to a phobia (clowns, spiders, ect), I would probably keep them in a case for politeness' sake. I know it's not your problem if someone has a fear of that kind of thing, but I try to be as curtious as possible. If someone has a fear of dolls however, then that's just too bad.

I am uncomfortable carrying any doll around a convention, though I do it anyways. I am usually in cosplay, so that's hard enough as is. I'm bumping into things and concerned for my costume's well-being, but then I also have to be concerned of where my doll's bare feet are pointing and who's elbow is coming too close to his/her face. It's a little too stressful for me, so if I can, I try to carry them in a box or case at a convention.

If I'm going to a meet in public, I almost always carry them. Unless of course, again, they're too fragile or they're an obstruction. Or if I know the place is going to be bustling with people. But that's not usually the case in good ole Michigan xD. In calmer settings, I feel more relaxed about my doll ad myself, so I think less bad things will happen. It's a good opportunity to have people become interested as well! I have actually run into a woman that was interested in buying one after seeing mine (and even knowing of the price!).

Sorry for the long rant...xD I know I don't make a whole lot of sense when I type too long sometimes.

    12. i put my boy in his case when i have the case with me, but last con since his case was being my prop AND my purse (it was a viola case and i had to carry my wallet and all the stuff for fixing ourselves and the costumes) me and my freind took turn carrying. and my god was it a pain, i grew a lil muscle lol.

if i HAD to, id try and limit what i carry, but i ALWAYS have a purse. sometimes i take him w/o case when visiting a freinds or going to the store.

      oi sorry if i rambled

    13. I have a case, but if i only have one of them, (preferably a MNF or YoSD) i'll carry them.
If i have more than one, i bring my bag.
My SD's are so heavy and make my arms sore. *learned from carrying 2 dolls at Megacon*

    14. thanks that helps. ill have to get a case i guess lol

    15. ^^ yes a case would be a good idea.
I'm always worried about my kids getting damaged - I also try to have my kids in their bags when I'm on public transport and walking down the streets because I understand they make some people uncomfortable so it's not very polite.

    16. At a Con? In my arms, always. Only one at a time, though. If I have more like for a meet, I'll have those in a carrier bag, though I try to ditch that in the hotel room as soon as I can. My carrier is slung over my back or on a shoulder, where it's harder to keep track of it bumping things and I can't see if someone's coming toward me from behind and is going to bump into it. Even with the padding in it I worry about them far more in the bag than in my arms where I can see whatever's coming toward them and pull them close, raise them up or turn to avoid anything bumping them. And it's easy to take quick photos, since I don't have to unpack them every time I want to take a photo of them. (I use a soft-sided but padded doll carrier - a hard case limits the "bumping into things" danger but is at least as big and awkward as the doll itself in most cases, and is heavier.)

Tinies always go in a bag, they're awkward to carry as they're too small to perch on my arm. The Puki is in a hard glasses case, so I don't have to worry about her getting crushed even if the bag does get a hard bump. I don't even have a carrier for the SD boys, so they always get carried.

Out in regular public, it depends. If I'm just transporting them from place to place, they go in a carrier (if I have one they fit in). If I'm shopping for props and have one with me to compare sizes, he stays out in my arms... no need to haul a carrier around for that and then have to dig him out everytime I see something I want to compare him to.

    17. in everyday life I carry mine in a case, I just won't deal with stares and comments, if I ever went to a con, I'd carry them because it would be the right time and place, I feel with certain things there is a time and place appropriateness

    18. Long-story-short: I'll carry one doll around just for fun. But my arm will get tired and crrraaaaamped after a while! *heheh*

    19. carried my Ani once and it was fine. the little kids were staring at him and I'm pretty sure they wanted to touch him. the old peeps didn't really care other than look, double take and that's it.

all I learned from it is not to carry one around in the open if they have long hair. kept getting blown out of order cause of the wind. Xd

    20. When I didn't have a case, I carried my doll with my arm LOL (let him sat on it)
now I have a case, I'll put him into the case
