1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you carry your dolls?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. i've heard from people that you can always put your doll inside a violin case that's big enough of course.

    2. Depends on what I'm doing. Sometimes I cradle the doll. Other times I carry it in my hand. It's circumstantial.

    3. I cradle my MSDs like babies or have them "sit" on my arm. Or, if I feel secure, set the doll on top of my shoulder and hold their legs.

    4. I carry my MSD girls in the crook of my arm, holding on to her feet/ankles with my hand. She fits perfectly, and feels pretty secure.
Or I make my boyfriend hold her if my hands are busy. xD

    5. You can but it usually requires some modification of the case. The styrofoam inserts inside that are shaped to fit the violin need to come out first, or the doll won't fit. It has to be a full 4/4-size violin case, too, if you want it to hold an SD. (Although now I'm envisioning a cute little 1/2-size violin case for tinies...)

Modification isn't hard, but it's occasionally a pain in the rear.

    6. It depends on size. I carry my MSD like a baby, with bent knees and in the crook of my arm. But I hold my Pukifee in my hand because she's so tiny, and I also hold my YOSD in my hand too.

And when I take my PKF out, she goes in my bag like this:

I don't have a picture of my MSD in my bag, but she sits straight up with her legs straight and she fits perfectly.

    7. I usually have them sit on my arm so their legs are hanging down and their back is supported by my chest or the crook of my arm. Sometimes I just stand them up then grab them around their waist or chest to carry/move them. But really, it depends why I'm carrying them. If I'm moving them I'll use the second method. If I'm carrying them for fun around the house or moving them to a longer distance I'll use the first method. :)

    8. I'm wondering also about bags/carrying cases, what types do people use?

    9. Me too. I feel like he would fall if I didn't.

    10. I sit the doll in the crook of my left arm with my left hand holding under their knees (my dolls are all SDs). I have a little more difficulty picking up and maneuvering a second doll if I want to carry two. I try to do the same on my right arm, but sometimes I end up holding them around the waist and pressing them to my body for support. I'd hate to drop one!

    11. I guess i carry her more like a teddy bear

    12. Mostly inside any bag that I want to take with me because I always wear really big bags with a shoulder strap.
In the case of the big ones, I wrap them with their company cushions, then into the bag.
For the little one I have a bag that came with her from the company, so I place her inside that bag, then that bag inside another bag XD

    13. I usually carry them in a bag I got from Dollmore years ago. After all these years, I still feel self conscious walking out of my house with a doll in my arms. Haha. But when I'm at a meet or another place I feel comfortable carrying them around, I carry them on a sitting position on my lower arm.

    14. I always want to know! I wanted to take my dolls to vacations with me, but I always ended up not taking them anywhere for their safety. And, it would be hard for me to move around with my dolls--sort of like taking children with you.

    15. I usually carry them in the crook of my arm unless it is a smaller doll in which case, I usually hold them sitting on the fingers of my hand with my Palm at their back, and a thumb and/or pinky finger curled around for security...

Commonly I'll take 2 sd girls out for a photo shoot around town, and it's a pain to take them in and out of the bag between locations. So I'll carry one in my arm, and the other on my hand. I face them in or out depending on the atmosphere... (sometimes I think people stare less when they can't see their faces :sweat)

    16. I usually carry her Shinku style.
Not sure how I would carry more than one doll though.

    17. I don't think i could forgive myself if i carried my bjd by his legs.Usually i hold him by his torso in teddy bear mode. There are times when I also cradle him, but I do that without thinking. I really care about my doll! I got him on a whim when I was starting my junior year of college. So even the thought of even carrying him wrong makes me feel uncomfortable.

    18. My Soom came with a case. When she's not in that, I just hold her around the torso.

I do leave her in her case a lot though, just to make sure she doesn't get damaged or bumped around.

    19. I bend their legs and I make them sit on one of my hands while I hold their waist in my other hand >.<

    20. i put them into carriers when I carry more than 2 sd's.
