How do you carry your dolls?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. I have one of the rebirth bags.. i got it cuz i needed a new purse.. and i could fit my yosized doll at the time in it.. xD but then i never ended up putting him in it anyways xD. its just a really kickbutt bag now xD.

mm are there any cheap bags similar to teh volks one? in terms of style?
      i really like that one, but its so exspensive... ;-;

    2. I have orderd a D.O.C. from Dream of doll. I think there is already a bag included, does enyone know if this is a decent bag to carry arround, and does it fit only one doll???
And is it wise to use a headcap when you're doll is carried arround in a bag???

    3. for those who live in USA and have WalMart near by and might need a bag for MSD/SDC/YoSD,
I just saw a knitting bag might fit those doll (not sure for MSD but YoSD should fit)
      it opens 2 sides, and the size is about 12.75" x 8.5" x 9.25"
you might find it in knitting session :)

    4. Ooh~! I'll have to go take a look~! Thanks for the information~! :3

(And oddly the first thing I noticed in the first picture was PINGU! XD)

    5. everyone saw that pingu when I sent them that photo:sweat
now it's the time to find something like that for SD or larger dolls....

    6. Ok, we've all seen the cute carriers for one or two dolls, but what do you guys do if your carrying 4 or 5 dolls to a meet, a vacation, whatever? Especially SD dolls? Pics welcome.

Here are the attempts I have made: I bought a long case (like a rifle case, but with a pre-cut middle section so I could punch out the shape of my dolls, though it was intended for rifles or camera equipment) and it fits 2 SD and 2 MSD at the same time, but that's it. There's no more room, and the dolls sit foot to foot without space for anything else. Sometimes, if they are wearing shoes with thick soles, I have to take off the shoes for them to slide inside, that is how tight the fit is. Then, I got the brilliant idea of buying a suitcase, then going to the fabric store and buying thick foam. I cut out the foam to fit in the suitcase, only to find out that my SD doll will not fit in it if he is stretched out. He can curl up in it, but then there is no room for other dolls. :doh

How do you travel with multiple SD dolls? Pics welcome and appreciated.

      My case:

    7. Hmm... Right now I only have a 10cm and a 60cm, so Anne goes in the bag I made for her and Erin goes in my pocket! :D With 3-4 60cms, I'd put them in my rolly bag. It's a small suitcase, carry-on size, and with enough foam (check) they'd be safe. Plus it's got one of those straps that hold your clothes flat and keeps them from slipping, so I could wrap each doll in foam (probably only fit 3 this way) and strap them in! :)

    8. If I really want to take a lot of dolls (usually this only happens at cons) I pack them up in my big suitcase on wheels. I also have a large plastic crate that can hold 3 SDs and a couple minis if they don't mind a lack of personal space ;) Unless it's a meetup where I know there will be room and we won't be doing a lot of walking, I usually only bring 1 or 2 dolls at a time anymore (what I can comfortably carry in my arms)--it's just much easier for me that way.

    9. I have a GIANT duffel bag. It fits all my dolls in it (4 60cms, 1 70cm and all their stuff with room to spare), and I use their satin pillows as protection. It's a "do not kick! do not crush!" type of carrier, but it's roomy and has wheels.

Weighs a ton when everyone's in it though. :sweat

    10. I have two carriers that hold more than two dolls. One is a homemade coffin carrier on a wheeled frame which can carry two or three sd sized dolls and a tiny or two. I also have a huuuge wheeled bag that holds all of my dolls plus a bit of padding. (Uh...all of my dolls being seven SD sized dolls, an MSD sized doll ad four tinies.) I don't anticipate ever needing that one though, but it's there if ever I need to transport all of them. I don't often take more than two dolls to a meet, though, because even with a carrier that will hold multiple dolls, it's kind of a hassle to transport them.

    11. I have 2 carriers - a MSD carrier from Cool Cat, and the one Crow came in when he was originally bought from Dolkot. I can JUST get all 4 of my guys in those, with the Dollzone cushions as padding, but it's a tight fit. I have no idea what I'm going to do with the SD I'm putting together. I have only been to one meetup and took all 3 of my dolls at the time, but I had 2 other people with me so we each held one. I think if it was just me I'd probably only take 2 with me.

I do plan to take all of them camping with me Memorial day, though, because I know there'll be a place to take some photos. Luckily we have an RV, so I'll probably pack the minis in the carriers for the journey and just sit the SD in the laundry basket with my clothes in the camper. I should probably get an SD carrier at some point soon, though!

    12. I have the benefit of everyone being Mini or smaller... ^_^ I've got a small courier bag in which i can fit two minis and four tinies, and then I carry the last mini seated on top and secured against my body. I don't plan on taking my large doll (when she comes) to a lot of distant events, so I'll deal with her when she arrives, and probably just carry her wrapped in cloth in my car.

    13. I've carried four dolls with me before, but that was three MSD and one SD - the three MSD fit into one doll carrier and the SD took space in my normal canvas bag. The only time I've carried two SD was with two obitsu dolls, so they can scrunch up very well and their heads were kept separately so they were not damaged. I do have a jute bag that could easily fit two seated SD in it, but I've never tried it. If I need to transport more than one tiny though, I have a specially set aside pencil case for them all to fit in.
I think it is time to get a bag on wheels. If I get me another resin SD, there is no way I'd be able to carry them in anything that cannot be wheeled behind me

    14. I'd be interested to know how much the rifle case cost and how much does it weigh with the dolls in it?

    15. I've only taken out two dolls at a time, so it's never really been a problem, but it's interesting to see peoples' ideas :3

As for the two (kellion and iiru), I have a bag that rolls and I stuck a blanket in there for padding, then sat kelli in there kneeling and iiru fit nicely into the leftover space.

    16. I have an idea to to take a normal suitcase and make it into an doll carrier with the help of foam and protection pillows :) have to see if it will work tough... :sweat

    17. I have a hard shell carry case that holds 2 msds and 2 tinies.... which was fine, because that was all of my dolls last time I used it :sweat

However, looking at my sig it would seem I need to revise my dolls mode of transport.... my IH guy has (or will have, he arrives today) his own carrier of course, as they send them with the doll.... my new MSD girl would not stoop to being shoved in a carrier, so I guess she would need to be carried.... reno is only a show head on a bust, so I wouldn't take him to meets, and I guess as Eivan and Fluffy are only floating heads thus far, I could either leave them at home, or wrap them in bubble wrap and stick them in with Skylar

    18. On the very rare occassions I take ALL my dolls out (usually a doll fair or something where they're on display), they all go into two rolling cases for ease of carrying. They're safe in there, all padded and hard sided, so I can knock the cases about easy enough on public transport and the like and not worry :)

    19. I have a rolling sew-machine travel case that I use when I'm carrying a large number of dolls to a meet. It can easily hold 4 SD-scaled dolls, and numerous MSD or YoSD scale with them. Or I can scrunch up a few more SD. I've fit a grand total of 7 in it at a time, along with my camera bag. ^_^ I love it. It's a Bernini, I think. I only regret that it's too large to use as a carry-on on airplanes, so I have to use other carriers when I travel on planes.

    20. I squash one of my 60cm into the Dollshe case with the Dollshe (usually Christopher, he's the lighter of the two) then there's a couple options for the others. I can get one into my backpack with the heads and the last doll travels in my arms, sometimes both dolls get to travel in my arms and the heads are tucked into my purse with the camera, or... my mum found me this silver rolling case, and I wrap the boys up in soft cloth and squeeze them in there (someday I'll actually get around to padding the case).

Once my floating heads have bodies it'll probably be Gamrut and Christopher in the Dollshe case, minis in the silver case, and Tanal in my arms or backpack.

Though I have been planning to rig straps on a hat so thothep can ride there... not like I need to worry about him yellowing after all...
