How do you carry your dolls?

Jan 26, 2006

    1. I have a cushioned coffin shaped guitar case that holds three SDs. It has a handle and recently added shoulder strap, so it leaves my hands free to carry the camera. I will also commonly perch one doll on my neck or one in the other hand if I don't want to cram all three, soon to be four, into the case.

    2. In the bag I use (I think it's a baseball bat bag... it's slender and long), I can fit two SD's, three Yo-SD's, and a MSD/MNF XD But then the bag feels like I'm carrying a toddler around @_@; I try to stick to one or two dolls though XD~

    3. In the last doll met, I manage to take my SD16 and my Hound (headless!!!) into the small suitcase (which you can bring onto airplane) on their sitting position then put their head in the head cap with something wrap around it (hence their clothes). Then the other side I put their wig and their accessory. So I can just drag them around instead of carrying them. (I did this one time with my DOD and Unoa-zero which = sore shoulder the next day) So it think suitecase is the way to go as it got wheels!!!
I also manage to put my Minifee shushu in my handbag as well so I manage to carry three dolls in one go!

    4. I have just bought something similar, and should hold at least four SD dolls:

But I also have this case,( that I adapted from ebay with safety straps, and it holds at least three SDs):

    5. For a convention I use my rolling suitcase as can easily fit dolls as well as items they need. For a meet up since I always have stuff to sell, I just bought and customized a rolling scrapbook sorting type system as sewing machine one was to much. It allows my kids to sit inside wrapped in baby blankets and can throw in a few odds and ends as well. For a Anime Convention only taking one and carrying him will be hard, but he is dressed for Cosplaying so no choice. I doubt he would ride in a stroller.

    6. Yeah, me too.

    7. I have a cool cat's 70cm bag for when I fly. I use it as my carryon. It can hold 3 SD dolls, and then some room for tinies or clothing. I like it for travelling because it has simi hard sides. (Would never put it in checked luggage, but it's sturdy enough for the overhead compartment).

I also have a DZ 70cm bag, and I can fit 4 SDs into it. But at that point it's HEAVY. It has soft sides so I only use it when I'm going to meetups. Never for plane.

I did go to a convention once by plane and used a regular suitcase. Had the the dolls in sitting positions, and then a super flexiable SD balled up in the middle. Managed to get 4 SD into the bag and a tiny.

But really trying to bring more then 3 or 4 by plane is not worth it, you have to worry about them getting lost or damaged, etc... I recommend 2 SDs, at the most 3 SDs. MSDs you can go with more, then they are far easier to pack.

    8. My wife made a couple different bags for our dolls. The best one was a coffin shaped bag but they get transported in different bags mostly.

    9. Right now I have a two doll carrier that I fit four dolls into (2 60cms, 1 42cm, and 1 20cm.) But I have to upgrade my case because I'm expecting a new 60cm girl this month and another 60cm girl next month.

    10. I got an 80cm Mecha Angel carrier bag from Soom.... That thing is the bomb. It can securely hold 4 SDs and an SDC, plus spare clothes/wigs for the dolls, & a spare cardigan for you. Or, it can hold one Mecha Angel and an SD16 side-by-side, with two SDCs on top of their legs. Or, it can hold an EID and a SD13 and an SD10. Or, it can probably hold four thousand Pukis individally wrapped in terrycloth socks.

Of course, then you do have to carry all of that (or pop it into your wheelie cart). If you are a short person, it will hit you in the ankles as you walk. ^^ I am a tall person and that bag whacks me in the backs of the knees. I wouldn't take it on an airplane, but it's awesome for daytrips & conventions & local travel.

    11. All this talk of carrying multiple dolls has me a bit worried. Right now I just have a DOC bag back from when they used to send carriers with their Too/Bee-A sets. I am just fitting all of my dolls--4 minis and one Bambicrony--without any extra clothes or wigs but it is definitely not going to fit any more. I was actually surprised I got that many in there. A couple of the gals in my area use long white doll carriers that I think were made for Hounds. But more than a few are luckier than I and simply find a bag lying around that would work or make their own. And most of them mummify their dolls before putting them in a bag. Mine are so tight they are each other's packing material. Then again, the nice thing about minis is I can carry all 4 around tucked under one arm.

My Mom did give me a sewing bag that she found at Walmart that would have worked just fine for minis, but I ended up taking it back due to scary big floral print.:( I felt like a heel for doing so.

Actually, I keep meaning to go out looking for a proper SD bag. Got a few on the way and I know I won't be able to carry more than one in my arms. Think the rolling suitcase will be my best option but we'll see.

    12. I have a dollmore Double carrier :3 it works nicely

    13. for meets I just have a really nice clear purse that fits everyone (one SD, one MSD, 2 yoSD sized, and 3 tinies) perfectly and comfortably =D my mom gave it to me which was a nice surprise because she usually doesn't show much interest in my dolls =) I have a bigger bag for planes that fits the purse I normally use and some blankets for padding. idk how I'm gonna carry them all when my Amber gets here though.....

    14. I don't carry more than one. If I lost one due to my bag getting stolen it would be heart breaking enough, to lose more than one would be devestating.

    15. Messenger bag... It fits 3 MSDs, a tiny and a puki. Then again, most anything fits a puki so lets not count that one XD
It wont hold anymore then that though so I'll be investing in something else when I get another doll and my crew has to kinda curl up or at least bend their legs to fit... But it's good for going to meets and what not.

    16. I have this bag from Iplehouse which is huge but incredibly comfortable. you pack it up with dolls and just hang it on one shoulder or crossed.

I have fitted inside 2 70cm dolls, an MSD and 3 tinies. I pad like crazy, so padding less crazily I guess you could fit another 70cm doll.

I love how comfortable it is. it may weight a ton when packed with dolly goodness, but you cross it over your chest and just walk!

    17. I have a duffle type bag, it carries 4 SDs plus a SDC. but it is every heavy.
Most my doll's stuff. (Clothes/wig/shoe/Accss) are carried in a sewing bag.

    18. I use a tote bag. I have two SD dolls sitting so that they're facing each other (one typically sitting on top of the other's legs), with blankets separating them, then I wrap my tiny and Puki in blankets and set them on top. I could probably fit an MSD or two in there as well. ^.^

    19. I have a double doll carrier from Dollmore, a Mecha Angel carrier bag (that fits 3 SDs including Sabik comfortably). But the major problem I have is that my dolls, which now includes Akando are too heavy to carry together so I'm planning to buy a suitcase especially for them and put individual sleeping bags and sew safety straps into it. That's a long term project though. I'm getting to the stage where I won't want to carry all my dolls to a meet - too much risk of damage, especially with ones like Euclase (grey resin) where you don't want them to risk getting scratched.

    20. i used a friends little travel suitcase (carry on bag).. which worked a little... but i need to get a bigger bag or something... i will have to carry around 4 dolls and my puki.

i dont want to leave anyone home... but i might have to.
