How do you celebrate your dolls' birthdays?

May 11, 2005

    1. I keep track of the day the arrived as their 'birthday' and I buy them something like a new outfit, or a small toy for their scale.

    2. Lol I kind of feel bad after reading everyone else's comments. I lost track of their arrival dates after my fifth doll or so. I mean, how hard is it really, right? But I guess I just didn't see the point. I know the year and the month my dolls arrived but that's the farthest it goes. No birthday presents for them either. They get enough stuff throughout the year.

    3. The only one I ever remember is my Crobidoll Cinderella Tei's because it's around the same time I graduated. I don't celebrate it, but I did think about it last May.

    4. I done everything like a normal birthday celebration. Like buying cake, prepare gifts, planning some surprise and even invite my friend to his birthday party. Glad my best friend adore him so much. So she normally bought him birthday gifts too XD We both having fun (and Mii being spoiled). LOL

    5. I don't really do birthdays--as I've only gotten my first doll late 2011 or early 2012... But, Christmas however. Is a different story.

    6. Marc arrived on my b-day. Hard to forget, really.
Nicky is a shelled character, so his bday was already pre determined. He's a Leap Year baby. :D

    7. I don't. I never remember them anyway. Onr time I did by baking a tiny cake and having a tea party but it wasn't much fun.

    8. I used to celebrate my stuffed dog's birthdays as a kid by getting them small-sized toys like bouncy balls or a new "collar" (aka a scrunchie hairband), so I'll probably do the same thing. Little scale-model toys and props are probably what I go for most.

    9. I never thought about this. I actually don't know half of my dolls' birthdays. D; Sounds like a cute idea though! I might start paying more attention and buying them a little somethin' somethin'. :D

    10. For my doll's birthday... uh, I think I got another doll as a belated gift XD nope just kidding, she is an early birthday present for me.
that aside, my doll's birthday is the 21st of February, because that's when I opened her box~ I drew a picture with her birth date on it an all that, but I suppose I didn't celebrate her birthday per se. I make her stuff all the time though haha

    11. I personally don't celebrate my doll's birthdays, don't get me wrong I love my dolls I just don't keep track of the exact date I got them and celebrate it... but then again I never even hold birthdays for myself so it could just be that I am not really big on birthdays

    12. Since there has been a lot of discussion about virtually any aspect of this hobby, I’m sure I am not the first to wonder about this. Mods, feel free to move or merge with any suitable thread.

I’ve seen several people making remarks about their dolls birthday, mostly people seem to call the arrival day its birthday.

I myself have not done this with any of my dolls so far, but find the concept very interesting.

      So my questions are:

Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?

Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory?

What do you do on this day?

Are birthdays in general special to you?

Anything else you want to share about the subject?

    13. Do you celebrate your dolls birthday? Yes, for my faves. The others, I might if I have time and interest.

Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory? It's the character's birthday and has nothing to do with arrival. All of my dolls are original characters.

What do you do on this day? Amir and Loki get new clothes and stuff, I usually get a cake too.

Are birthdays in general special to you? Very much so!

Anything else you want to share about the subject? I'm a little OCD so just about all of my dolls' bdays are the 6th, 13th or 26th of the month. :P

    14. Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?
      On occasion, yes c:

Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory?
Depends on the doll; most of them have birthdays corresponding to their arrival date, some others have their 'character birthday' as well as their arrival date one as secondary if the character has a specific birth date before their acquisition for whatever reason.

What do you do on this day?
Take lots of pictures of them, dedicate time to them... if I am able to I might get them some new clothes or accessories or something random (or make them if finances don't allow this). Also I roleplay them lots and lots with my best friend to commemorate the day!

Are birthdays in general special to you?
Yep! People only get their birthdays once every year.

Anything else you want to share about the subject?
I consider the day a doll was completed its birthdate which is also why my floating heads don't have it in my profile. Heads will receive their own birthdate once they get their bodies. If a character is reshelled or their body temporarily split and sold they will retain their initial 'first birthday'.

    15. Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?
I don't. I would love to start buying them a little something on their birthdays though!
Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory?
I consider their birthday the day that they arrive.
What do you do on this day?
I haven't done anything yet, but I just want to pay extra attention to them and buy them at least 1 new clothing item.
Are birthdays in general special to you?
Not at all actually. I'd rather not celebrate them to be honest.
Anything else you want to share about the subject?
I find this pretty interesting. I don't have anything to add, but I love to see what others do. :D

    16. Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?
Yes, I do! I don't always celebrate on the *exact* day. Sometimes my dolls have a 'birthday week'.

Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory?

I count the doll's arrival day as their birthday, and so far I have been very lucky that my dolls all arrived on days that suited them perfectly. My bubbly, happy guy arrived May 4th, my poetic head-in-the-clouds guy arrived November 7th, and my gloomy, pale, angry guy arrived February 11th. Perfect!

What do you do on this day?

I will have made the doll a new outfit, which he will wear on this day--it's been a trend thus far to make them a special yukata/kimono, because it isn't something they would normally wear but I like to make them. :D
If at all possible, I'll take pictures of the doll, and spend time playing with them.

Are birthdays in general special to you?

Very, only mine always seem to suck. I tend to get depressed that time of the year, not because of getting older, but because I never seem to have the great day I try to create... and it just reminds me how bad the previous years were. That might be why I try to take doll birthdays seriously. T_T

Anything else you want to share about the subject?

It wasn't possible to celebrate properly with Lysander this year, as I was several hundred miles away. But before I left I dressed him in his cute new yukata with his stuffies and wished him a happy day :( I felt sorta bad the evening of the 4th, because it made me think of sucky birthdays in general, so I got out some paper, drew a picture, and wrote 'him' (his character) a letter telling him all the things I like about him.
Then when I got home I took him out for his own photoshoot.

    17. Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?
      Yes, I plan to :)
Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory?
Depends on the doll, Aria and Aurora will be on their arrival day, and probably Soo as well, but the others have theirs based on a backstory :3
What do you do on this day?
Bake cupcakes... have presents :) i have presents wrapped up for christmas too, tho they're really just props XD
Are birthdays in general special to you?
Yes :) i just love them X3 a excuse to spoil either my daughter, my brother, or my dolls? yea, i'll take it XD
Anything else you want to share about the subject?

      doll cupcakes are awesome? XD

    18. Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?
Haven't had any of them long enough yet lol. But i doubt if I'd do anything special. My dog/cat/rats don't get birthdays and they're alive so probably not.

Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory?
Well I don't remember when they all arrived exactly. I have rough estimates like summer or fall lol. Jack (DZ annie) came with a card to write her birthday/arrival day down...so I did. So she's the only one with an official birthday

What do you do on this day?
Maybe keep them out more than the others if I did anything. They all get stuff whenever I see it

Are birthdays in general special to you?
Not as much anymore. I get pressured/forced into going out with my family when I'd rather not. Mom asks what I want but then won't get me what I ask for, b/c she thinks anime is weird. $60 on a xbox game is ok but $40 on a anime box set oooh no. End Rant

    19. Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?
I used to when I only had a couple, but now I just can't remember them all! XD I do celebrate Oliver's as he was given to me as a 21st present (so I can remember his!) and I keep a list of all my doll's "arrival dates" in a draft in my emails.

Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory?
I count my dolls "birthday" as the day they arrived. For head/bodies bought separately, it's usually the day the doll is 'whole'. For dolls that were bought in advance as a gift (birthday/Christmas etc.) their arrival date is the day they were received.

What do you do on this day?
On the off chance I actually remember it, I might take them out for a photoshoot, change their outfit, give then a good cleaning and a restring, maybe just muck about with them. I might just do nothing.

Are birthdays in general special to you?
      Eeh, not so much. I don't really like parties, so I've never really enjoyed birthdays. XD I suppose it's an important occasion, but they're not super-duper special. I don't even celebrate my pet's birthdays, so celebrating my doll's isn't really a high priority~ ^^;

    20. Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?
I do. In a certain way, I just remember the day they arrived. Since their first birthday was just some days ago I wanted to give them some nice decent clothes but it was not possible.
Do you celebrate this on the arrival day, or is the birthday based on something else like the dolls backstory?
They have their birthdays acording to their characters but I celebrate on the arrival day.
What do you do on this day?
I just bragged a bit about it XD. It's their first birthday.
Are birthdays in general special to you?
      Not that much.
