Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. How do you decide on a doll´s birthday?

May 23, 2006

    1. Shyada's birthday was the day I had an omukae ceremony for her (march 3rd, hinamatsuri). I haven't gotten around to doing it for my other girls yet so they don't have birthdays ^^ I will probably pick something significant for them because, hey, I might as well.

    2. I just think about my boys and think what season suits them best. Then I pick a number that I think fits them as well, and then I narrow the month down. They just fit. Also, sometimes the zodiacal signs matter some.

Shou's birthday is August 9th, because my dad is a Leo, but I wanted them to have different dates. The number 9 really suits Shou, because it's 3^3 and 3 is Shou's favourite/lucky number.

Aiji's birthday is January 3rd (The reason for 3 being Shou's favourite number XD). The colour white really fits Aiji, so I thought a Winter month. I can just see him all bundled up enjoying the snow on his birthday ^3^

    3. I actually wish my doll can arrive on the day i wan but... then finally I dun wan. I wan their birthday on the day they arrive. So I'm lucky my first girl arrive on the day after Valentine...So is near by. XD

    4. I just go with arrival dates, and for the twins (and eventually quadruplets) I use the first boy's arrival date. There's nothing like astrology in my story so there's nothing really complex to work out with birthdays.

    5. day of arrival, natch. both my boys arrived on the same day, so they share a birthday :)

    6. Arrival dates for me too....

    7. I was going to go with the day he arrived (sometime in March) but I forgot the exact date. So I chose a random date... his birthday is 02-02, my old debit card pin number. Plus, it's Groundhog Day, and I think groundhogs are cute.

    8. My boys have birthdays their characters were assigned long before I brought them home in doll-form. Rather than picking a date entirely at random, I thought about each character and waited for a date to come to mind that felt 'right'. I did it without thinking of things like zodiac signs etc, but when glassalice did a star-sign analysis for her crew she included Ilú as well, and he seems to fit his sign scarily well (he's a Gemini, and his birthday's June 13th)

I always say he did it on purpose so that he could demand presents both in June and January (arrival date) Wouldn't put it past him!

    9. Mike and King's were set long before doll form...everyone else, save for Alex, formally Ty, is by arrival dates.

    10. said in later post

    11. I go by arrival dates. According to him, Al set it up so they both came home on their original birthdays (or in his case appearance day), but I think he just wants me to feel like I chose the right dates.

    12. For Inanna I went with her arrival date... Although I seriously considered doing otherwise since she arrived on my birthday. It was sort of weird to think that I would be sharing a birthday with my doll O_o... but... that's what I ended up keeping it as anyways.

    13. Saint-Germain's birthday is the same as the character he is based on (December 23). I haven't given Milo a birthday, but am leaning toward September 7, my grandma's birthday (and a day before my birthday).

Rogerian's birthday will be the day he arrives here. He is also based on a character, but that character doesn't have a defined birthday.

    14. Hey, that's my birthday too!:)

All of my character's birthdays were narrowed by season and zodiac sign. I picked the day and even a time of birth so I could do a complete natal chart. Reading astrological characteristics (sun, ascendents, which house Saturn falls into etc,) helped me piece together what I imagined the characters to be like with personality elements that I otherwise wouldn't have thought were compatible.

The only one who didn't get a birth chart was Magnus, I have no way of knowing where the planets were in the sky around 550BC.

    15. arrival date works for me. i don't really do anything with it, though.
i did find it sort of amusing that my first doll arrived feb 12 and my second arrived feb 24 (though a year apart), so the numeric date doubled. *dork*

    16. I use the arrival date as well. Seems to work well, IMO.

    17. For my first three dolls, who arrived as complete dolls (head and body) and who are not modled after any existing character, their birthday is their arrival date.

For my LW Joy (Kotoko), since she is modled after a character from a TV series, I'm going to wait until I have everything of hers completed (faceup, wig, outfit, etc) before I declare her "born."

    18. For me, it begins with the doll's personality, moves to the zodiac chart, then s/he clues me in on the date. With my dolls, the date of birth is part of their character. I couldn't very well have a quiet and demure Scorpio now could I?

    19. I pick October because it is my favorite month, and I placed his birthday on the cusp so he has a little of both signs.

    20. I think I would just use their arrival date as their birthday for my own dolls, unless I customized them further afterwords. :daisy Once they were finished and truly "themselves", that day would be their birthday (or re-birth day! :) ).
