How do you decide on a doll´s birthday?

I think my doll's birthday is... Not going to be the day he arrives because he's been 'alive' in my head for years. I believe it is some time in May. Around the 20th to the 23rd I think. Because when I created my character it was with a friend and it was near my birthday when I got my computer in high school.

Since the doll is a physical representation of the character it'll have the same birthday and probably will be a Gemini like me. XD

 

For me the date of arrival it would be their birthday
But if I have only a head, his/her birthday would be when the doll is complete ^^

 

I am going by the day I can hold him in my arms.

AKA: arrival day

 

My dolls are all based on characters, so their birthdays are the same^^ Elezar was born on New Year's Eve, Issachar on December 24 (I think), etc.

 

So far all of my dolls and planned dolls are character dolls-- I don't need to decide on their birthday as I have the dates given already... There is one character (Gong-gil from The King And The Clown) I am not sure about, but I think his birthday will be in Summer-- Summer fits him. In the future, if I ever get a non-character doll, I will either choose a date that "fits" the doll's personality or take the date of the doll's arrival... I don't really care all that much^^; I don't plan any birthday parties

If I had to actually pick birthdays...

Jay's would be Jun 16th, two days after my own... Lirael's would be Febuary 9th.

I didn't think about this, and while the arrival date would prolly stick with me. . . i think it would be cool to find his zodiac sign

 

Well I got my first BJD part (a Johnny Depp minimee head) on February 10, 2009 And I have decided that THAT is the official day I got him. Not the day I paid for him, not the day he will get a body (though I now have a down payment on one), but the head sculpt is who he is and since his head is here, his "birthday" will thus be February 10, 2009.

He doesn't have a faceup, he doesn't have a body, he didn't have eyes until yesterday, and Johnny Depp's real birthday is June 09, 1963. But he arrived to my loving arms on February 10, 2009!

I am officially a proud owner of a doll head! But it's the best head of all. Oh, Johnny!!!

 

I haven't thought much of specific dates, but date of arrival is fine mostly.

 

For Edward and Lily, I've been going by box-opening day... but for poor Jack, who is still just a head (for shame, for shame), I think I will go by the day he has his own body, and has been "finished," or at least to a point: modding finished and he's got a face-up and a pair of eyes that are at least the right size for him.

I can't really give them a birthday by use of the day they're "finished" in terms of final eyes and wigs and clothes and face-ups or they'd not get birthdays for YEARS! haha~

 

Then I put him on his birthday when he get home. And other times we do with the personality that I want to take, so I look more at the sign of the zodiac, and I choose the best. ​

 

I haven't got my boy yet, but I'm pretty sure it'll be the day he arrives. It seems most natural that way. I created his character a long time ago, but I think it'd be kind of weird to celebrate his birthday a month after I got him just because that was the day I had chosen. I'd rather make the day of his arrival his birthday because then we'd actually have spend a whole year together before we celebrated.

my girl's birthday is today even though i got her on oct 6th 2008
because today is the day that her head comes back from jellyfish with her permanent face-up ^^
my boy doesn't have a birthday yet, because he still doesn't have a face-up nor have a bonded with him
(which is why he's for sale T^T)

but either way
i have two dolls that arrived in the same box
and one has a birthday and the other doesn't ^^

 

My first two were easy, the day they arrived at my house - Dec. 15 for one, Jan. 15 for the other. For my third, it's less clear-cut. He arrived on Feb. 11, but was totally blank with no eyes. His eyes arrived on the 14th, and I gave him his faceup that night (though it is a temporary one). He still doesn't have his own hair, and he won't have a body for a few more weeks yet.

I think I may make his birthday the 14th or 15th, since it wasn't until he had his eyes and faceup on that he felt like he was actually "here". It was the eyes, especially. The 14th is probably the actual day (not sure how late I was up painting him), but the 15th would be easy to remember because it's exactly one month after my second, and 2 months after my first arrived.

Edit: Looks like it was the 14th. Late on the 14th, but the 14th nonetheless.

 

Weeeell, I'm kind of biased XD

I chose October 30 as Mikah's birthday, because that's when I officially ordered him and loved the idea of him being born on hallow's eve .

I chose Yurii's birthday as Jan. 29, which is the day he officially arrived into my possetion.

So I guess for me, it depends on the day- if it's a cool day, (Like Valentines day, or Halloween or Christmas, or some other obscure date with equivocal meaning) then I'd choose that if it's also the day I ordered them. But if not, then I leave it to fate, and keep it random. I like the surprise of which star sign they end up being. (Both of my boys totally fit to type as well- Scorpio and Aquarius all the way!)

My girls b-day is on the day she arrived..
Though I'll probably only forget her birthday. Lol.
I forget my pets b-days on Gaia all the time.. XDDD

 

For me my doll's birthday usually is the day when I place the order. I even waited with my order for Shirou because for him I really wanted the 31th October to be his birthday

 

Whatever day my doll arrives, I think i'll make that her Birthday. It just seems more fitting to me. ^^
