1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you decide on a doll´s birthday?

May 23, 2006

    1. for me, it will be the day they arrive at their new homes.
i feel like while they're still being made or in the mail, they're just dolls.
once they get to their new homes, that's when they become more than "just a doll" and more of a family member.

    2. For me it'll be when the girls arrive. I'm aiming for that to be in June seeing as they'll be my twins ;)

      [/geek]

    3. I use the day she arrived.

    4. I would also not be original: arrival day. To be exact - the day I open a box.

    5. For my dolls (when i can get them) i'd have their birthday based on the characters birthday c:
my main reason for getting BJDs is so i can make my characters real is a strange way x3
plus i have a bad memory when it comes to remembering when i get things -3-

    6. I decide there birthday is the day that I buy them.

    7. I set doll b-days based on the day of their homecoming:)

    8. I picked the date that she arrived~ It means that there are a few other dolls that share her birthdate, due to the way the first wave of Rosette Dolls were shipped, but that was the day she came home! :3

    9. I chose the day she came home for my first BJD, but had it been a doll meant to represent a character from one of my roleplays, I would have used the character's birthday. :)

    10. My girls' birthdays are the dates they arrived. :chocoberry

    11. I always choose the box opening days for my dolls' birthdays although to be honest now I would not remember the day without "cheating" and looking at what I wrote down in the past. I believe Demi was febuary 21st. Mowen whom I sold was like june 6th. My obitsu was May something. Aod demi was april 6th (just a few days ago) But next year I might not remember it. I try to buy my dolls a "present" as in new outfit or wig or eyes around their birthday but other than that the day doesn't really hold special meaning for me as I dont roleplay with them, although I've tried and probably will try more. I just dont have the energy to put that much into it.

    12. It´s a little random, how I decide. If I buy a "complete doll" (with head and body ) I let the birthday be the date of arrival. I once got a floating head, with no faceup or anything, and his birthday became the day, when he got his first faceup. ^_^

    13. I choose the dates according to what star sign suits their characters most.;)

    14. For me, it's the date of arrival. I like to remember that day with all its anticipation and happiness.:D

    15. I think date of arrival would be a more realistic representation of birthdate(you can't exactly choose when...), but with my first doll, I went with a completion date to force myself to finish working on her...(I'm horribly unreliable if left to my own paces, but I wanted my doll done sooner rather than next year...)

Of course, I can't remember when exactly each and every doll arrived, so unfortunately, I can't nail down exact birthdates for them that way either... As it stands, I'll be going with the system of "choose a date you're feeling good and want to remember"

At least until I get around to actually recording more information about them so I stop forgetting things... xD

    16. My doll's birthdays are on the day that they arrive at my house.

    17. I've not gotten my doll quite yet, but I'm giving him his birthday on his arrival.

    18. for me, the day it arrives in the mail

    19. The day it arrives at my house of course.

    20. For me, the doll's character kind of chooses their birthday itself. Plus I kind of always had in mind the seasons and star signs relating to what month they were born in. I never really thought of box openings as their birthday because it never seems to suit their personalities as much as if they had a separate birthday.
