How do you decide on a doll´s birthday?

The birthday I picked out is in the summer, a few days before my own.

 

argh... right now i kinda think the day the doll is all finished would be better because then you could have a birthday party right away. If the doll arrives but has no eyes and hair it would be a little weird to have a tea party or anything ^^
so forget about my last post. to be able to celebrate with the doll is more important to me.
or maybe a doll can just have to birthdays. thats double fun anyway.

 

Yep, the arrival date is their birthday unless they are based on a particular character that already has one

 

I'm going to pick out their starsigns first, then decide a date. I want their starsign to relate well to their personalities.

 

I stick with the day they arrive. It's more special to me that way.

 

I don't really have a birthday for them, more so an 'arrival day'. I guess that counts, but I view it as more so arriving; it ties into the little world I have for my dolls and their stories in which they arrive at the crossroads between worlds (where they meet and interact etc).

 

Since my boy is based on an existing character, his birthday has already been chosen, June 27th. Like some other people have said, I choose a birthdate based on the character's personality, by fitting it to an astrological sign's attributes. ^^

 

AOD sends out a "Birth Certificate" with their dolls. It tells me her birthday.

 

My dolls have both "character birthdays," which is based on a starsign that fits them well, and "real birthdays," which is the day of opening. But since those tend to fall around major holidays, I prefer to space them out a bit more in-story.

 

I didn't think of giving my dolls birthdays when they first arrived and can't remember the exact date, only the month, of their arrival so I've picked dates that fit a star sign that I just think suits their personalities ^^

All my [planned, ever planned...] dolls are based on previously existing characters, so they already have set birthdays.

 

I search for the zodiac sign that fits the 'personality' and than randomly pick a date within that zodiac sign. ;3

 

Huh. I never even thought to give my dolls birthdays. Maybe I should - if nothing else, it'll be a good excuse to make party hats for them :-)

 

I haven’t had my boy long enough to have a box opening birthday yet, but since he was based on/is an existing character, he's got his own birthday - not a star sign based one, though. I think I'm gonna spoil him and give him presents on both days - like a first born child, I guess X3 Any excuse for me to buy things for him!

Also, I really do like the pregnancy analogy, Zaihaku ... This way it's quick and painless (unless you're a wallet XD)!

 

I'm not one for birthdays for non-living items, I guess. I have enough to deal with remembering my extended families' birthdays, so I don't know if I'll give my doll(s) birthdays. I susppose if I do, it will be the date that the doll arrives. As a matter of fact, I'm anxiously awaiting an arrival either today or tomorrow.

 

The birthdays of my dolls are the days I received them. Alana was brand new getting here on December 31 so that's her birthday, but with Mariane I bought her secondhand on January 16 so I made that her birthday. I think that when I receive the first major part of my doll (ie: a floating head or the whole thing) that I make that day their birthday

 

The date of Aoife's arrival will be her birthday. She's coming with a wig, a set of clothes, a pair of boots and whatever eyes they send her with, so she will be complete when she comes.

I never thought about it until now, but it makes the most sense as far as the "birth" part goes.

Of course the birth year will be 1989 so that she'll be 21 when she arrives.

I was planning on making that my boy's birthday from the beginning- extremely lucky for me he arrived the day he did

However, I have a weird quirk... If they arrive on the same day as my birthday or the birthday of a friend, I find it awkward xD;;
I'm weird like that... .^.;

 

So, my boy arrived as a surprise and I didn't have time to do much more than go, "yup, he's in the box" before I had to rush off to a meeting. I also didn't think about his birthday until later. I don't know the exact date he arrived, so I looked at my bank statement. I chose the day my payment went through as his birthday, so, October 15th. Even though I bought him in '09 he's a character from who'll turn 23 this year, so his birthday's in 87...I went and looked up his zodiac after I'd chosen the date and it matches his personality well! XD
