1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you decide on a doll´s birthday?

May 23, 2006

    1. For the most part, I use their arrival days as their birthday, with the exception of my secondhand doll. I've decided to make his birthday the day when/if he'll finally have a faceup (otherwise three-quarters of them have January birthdays, so it'd be nice to spread their days/months out). I wouldn't mind using their date written on the company certificate, except Dollmore only had the month and the year written on theirs.
But it's easier for me to keep track of their arrival date since I wrote them out in my agenda and livejournal, and it's faster for me to reach for those as opposed to hunting around for the certificates (as I'd be liable to misplace those, unfortunately).

    2. Well, the day I finally got Sho assembled, strung, and gave him a face up (the first time) became his birthday. That day he was "born" and got his eyes for the first time. I'll use the same process when I get another doll... since I probably won't get one with a faceup done for me.

    3. I use the day they arrived~~~

    4. my doll was at the post office for a few days before i got a chance to collect her. so i made that her birthday

    5. If it is a doll that I am receiving in full, than it is their arrival day. If it is for a doll that was a floating head, than it is the day their body arrives. Problem with my method, is I am heavily into astrology. So in order to have my dolls astrological signs correlate with their personality, I have be very attentive as to when I order them, otherwise they will show up during a time were the current sign just not work with their personality.

    6. day I get it, that's its birthday
(astrology called me a deviant, I don't trust it) lol

    7. My girl is based on a pre-existing character, so she already has a birthday fixed even if I haven't got her yet... (damn customs...)

    8. The day they arrive is the day I use as their birthday.

    9. Yeah, that's what I do. When the doll is "done enough" to seem to have a personality, they usually "look like" they would be a pisces or a taurus or what have you. Although only a couple of my dolls have specific birth dates, and that's on Halloween (my favorite holiday) and my birthday (figured I may as well share my birthday with the one that's a pisces like me).

    10. I have always liked to think of it as the day that I ordered them. Or, the day that they were made since one of my dolls I bought second-hand. I don't like to think of it as the day that they arrive because sometimes it takes awhile for me to find just the right look for them, and I like to think of the people who made them as their "parents". : )

    11. If my dolls had birthdays it would be they day they arrived at my house. I have enough trouble remembering people's and my pet's birthdays to even consider my dolls having a birthday.

    12. I was kinda having trouble deciding this too... but I ended up using the date of their arrival (arrival at the post office I mean... because once I wasn't home to receive my doll and I had to go get it 3 days later -_-) But if I was having a bad day on their arrival (like I had an exam that day and didn't really get a chance to play with him), I just moved it over to the next day. xD;;

    13. I usually go by the date they arrive.

My latest doll came with a free head, so the doll with a body was 'born' on the day she arrived but head was not 'born' until I completed her face up.

I am planning on getting a twin for one of my existing dolls (eventually!) so regardless of what day she arrives her birthday will have to be changed to fit that of the existing doll... unless I invent a winding, elaborate time-travel story to explain the different birthdays ;)

    14. Same as a lot of people, I do it by the date they arrive. XD If they're incomplete, then I do it by the date that they come together.

    15. My dolls birthday is March 23rd. I don't know why, but it is :D

    16. Date of arrival, or when the doll's a head and a body is finally united. I have OCs in an RP with my friend that we take super seriously, but I didn't much bother with their birthdays (we don't really RP birthdays anyway OTL), and also I'd like to remember the specific days (and time, actually) my kids arrived to my house, all ready to mess around with, and made me grin inanely the whole day afterwards. :)

    17. I use the day of arrival, as well. It's easier for me, that way, and it's too much effort trying to figure out the "perfect birthday" for my characters. Plus, I figure I'll be getting them at all sorts of times of the year (at least the next three or four ^_^) so I don't have to worry about their birthdays being all jumbled up around the same time.

    18. Her birthday is my birthday. Simple as that, since she is like a mini me.

    19. Although Freya was a preexisting character of mine, she was never a complete character until I resinated her, so... I just use the date that she arrived, (December 29th) because although the date that I ordered her is much more interesting, (Halloween!) it would never fit the character to have that birthday.

    20. My dolls are preexisting characters who already have birthdays. Even though all his body parts arrived in the mail in January (still waiting on wig/clothes, though, and it'll be even longer still until his HZ uniform shows up), Zin's happens to be August 31.. I had decided this even before I had put the perfect face to his character - and as it turns out, the celeb from which his sculpt is modeled has his birthday September 1st. So maybe that's more of a coincidence :>

As for the second one I'm waiting on, his birthday is the (estimated) day of creation of the character. The doll is just a physical extension of my long-adored brainchild.

If I get a doll who is not intended to be a character of mine, I suppose it's birthday will be the day of arrival, since that seems pretty logical... and popular XD
