1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you decide on a doll´s birthday?

May 23, 2006

    1. My doll's birthday, will be the day he finally comes home...but in my case, I will have to decide if it's the day he comes to the mailing address, or the day mom brings him up to my school since I go to college several hours away from home. It may very well be the latter since that would be that day he's taken out of the box.

    2. My dolls birthday's are decided by date of arrival.

    3. Date of arrival :3
Except for Aiden (atm he's a floating head), he's one of my characters (roleplay) turned into a doll, so his his birthday is February 9th as in the written stuff :)

    4. I want to make his birthday on the same day as he arrives(full body) or to make it easy to remember since I suck with dates, my b-day.:)

    5. I, as some of the people here, think of the doll's birthday the day he or she is finally complete (eyes, wig, faceup and clothes). For dolls made to resemble existing characters... Probably the character's birthday if I manage to find it out. If not, same as above.

I'm still working on birthdays, though, because I have a few planned characters that live in different universes, so I was divided between keeping the made-up dates or the day they're complete. I might use the first one when talking to people, just to see their faces (L)

    6. I don't have a doll yet but for me the birthday would be the day I open the box (provided my doll comes in complete).
If it's a drifting head/ body, then it'll be the day my doll is complete.

    7. Hmmmm... good question )))
Logically, it can be a "creation date", that stands in COA. I took this date for my Liam.
And for Raoul and Katze it's a real problem ((( I have no good idea yet ((
Ivarella will have the same birthday date as me )))) I hope, she don't mind )))

    8. My dolls' birthdays are the days that they came home. Since I do not often have a character in mind for the doll before they arrive, this system works for me.

    9. I do it a really geeky way....

I roll it with DnD dice.

Twelve sided for the month, and then Percentiles for the day. If it's above 30/31, then I re-roll until I get a date.

      Badabing, badaboom.

      Birthday!

*has a habit of rolling up random characters...effecting her other hobbies....*

    10. The day they arrived, or the day their head arrived.

    11. This time, when I got Mitzi Chun, I decided on using the postmark on the package instead of when she arrived. I really didn't want her to be a Leo. Z's one (today's his birthday, yays) but I just thought it wouldn't work to have her be one too. The postmark was July 19th. This means she's still a Cancer (Moonchild, Krabby Patty, etc. etc.) on the cusp of Leo.

She was born in 1987, according to her backstory, because she was in the same 2nd Grade class at Kester Elementary School in Van Nuys as Yumiko. They became BFFs because they were the only two Asians in a class full of Latinos/Latinas and whites.

Even weirder: she is Z's cousin. She is from a Korean family that split up during the Korean War. Her side of the family wound up in the US because they were actively cooperating with the UN forces. Z's side of the family wound up joining other family members in Osaka, Japan. And some members of the family wound up stuck on the "wrong" side of the DMZ, and are still in North Korea.

As Z put it, "Probability infinity minus one. Improbability calculation complete." He was quoting The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy there, but it summed up the improbability of Z's wife having his cousin as a longtime friend.

    12. For me, it's the day you opened the box ^^

    13. Its the day of arrival for me! :D

    14. The birthdays are decided when I get them. And on that note, holy crap I've had Jay for almost four years. ._. That's kinda daunting when you think about it. XD

    15. I don't have a doll yet and if I did I would look and see if the doll has a birthday first, because I always see on the picture or text that I am looking at a doll that it already has a birthday or not. But if it doesn't have a birthday I'll go with the day it arrives. Then I have to completely write it down to remember it. I am totally not good with birthdays. ^^;

    16. I know I already posted up something but now that Tsuki is going to be sent out this sunday to Mint On Card, there's a chance she'd arrive while I'm away in Colorado for a week and a half. So... I guess it'd be better to have her birthday the day I actually come home and open the box. It'd be more special then the day that she arrives at my doorstep and is stuck in my room in a box until I get back (thank god my I-consider-a-brother-friend lives here and can get the box while I'm gone).

    17. I make the birthdays of mine the day they arrived at my doorstep :) If I were getting a head and body separately... Then I guess it would be the day the last part arrived, perhaps with the date of the first part noted too.

    18. Wow... I never thought of giving My Lafiel a Birthday.....I Guess it would have to be...August 1st That was the last Day of Otakon.. when i bought her, and later opened her box to show a Friend

    19. My doll's character was a Virgo and so I picked a random date in September for his birthday. I decided about two years ago his birthday would be on September 10th. Ironically he shipped on September 11. I guess his birthday was just meant to be.

    20. I normally use the day I open the box.
