It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How do you decide on a doll´s birthday?

May 23, 2006

    1. Same here :). I don't know whether his real date of birth is known, but Saito arrived on 9-11, so that date will be his birthday. And it's kind of easy to remember, sadly. I bet he would have wanted to have been around at the time, slaying evil before they could do all that damage and killing, putting them to the sword. It would probably have been no different to him than preventing Kyoto from burning to the ground.

    2. Emma's was from the day she arrived, which is about a month ago!

I'm thinking the second one will probably be the same.

    3. I'm big into zodiac, so I just choose a random date in the appropriate zodiac time period ^^ Their arrival date is their reincarnation date though, and isn't celebrated as much as the month itself is.

    4. I can never remember the dates my dolls arrived, oops!! :) I pick out a date that I think would suit them, or get on Wikipedia and look up some famous people I like (Mozart) and use their birthdays.

    5. The day the doll or head (or first part arrives) is the birthday for me, plain and simple.

    6. I would have picked the day of arrival, but I forgot when it was. So I picked a date that I think is close to when I got him. January 15th sounds close enough.

    7. Since I bought my first love, pre-loved, I have almost no idea of her personal life outside the fact she wasn't someone's idea of a character.

I received Duchess, my Blue BBB Sprite on October 14th, 2008
So that's her "birthday" in a sense to me.

But for those who know/knew your dolls back story, the one that came before you, do you keep any "evidence" of it? It could be a face-up, name, style, etc basically anything relating to the previous owner. Company or not.

Or do you "erase" any trace of her/him previous life?

And if you, even at all, celebrate your dolls "birthday" how do you do so?

I'll be honest, I plan on taking her to the mall near my house with friends and having some cake. But while silly that may/may not be, I feel she is well worth it.

      So what about you?

    8. I don't have a set birthday for my dolls, because I think it's silly to celebrate for an inanimate object. I'd refer their date of arrival the anniversary, but even then I don't do much on the day. I would just go "Hey, today is the aniversary of so-so's box opening, that means he/she has been with me for x years."

And yea, that's about all I ever do.

    9. I think mine will be the day she arrives XD Or if I ever buy incomplete dolls - it'd be on the day they're completed.

    10. Well, first I write a series of complex equations on small slips on paper, about twenty of them, and then I place them all in a hat, shake 'em up, and then hold out the hat for the doll to pick his paper.

Naturally, the resin jerk is a bit stubborn, so I end up choosing for them myself, and then doing the equation, and then that resulting number is the date of the day. Then I do this all over again for the month.

      :D

lol jk I haven't even thought of it yet. I'm pretty terrible at remembering birthdays. :sweat

    11. My dolls' brithday are the day they were delivered to our house, the day i saw the box, opened it and glance on their beautiful faces and cuddled them in my arms... though originally I want to choose birthdays for them ^^

    12. The day I have both their head and body in my possession is their birthday.

    13. I have a book called "The Secret Language of Birthdays" which I use. I choose the astrological sign first, then I read through the personalities for the various days under the sign. With 365 personalities to choose from, I can find one that is quite close to the personality I originally envisioned.

    14. Everyone here have great suggestions. I agree that the "opening/arrival" date would be a natural pick. Then again with a character in mind, I like the idea of the Zodiac signs and working from there. I will only know until it happens... it will be fun either way.

    15. Well I had decided birthdays for my characters a long time ago because they are characters in a story I created in college. My doll has a birthday because it was predecided.

    16. For the most part I think my dolls' birthdays will be the day I get them. That's how I celebrate the birthdays of my pets, actually. They are rescues so I have no idea when their actual birthdays are, so I go by the days I rehome them with me. However, there may be some dolls that I pick a special date for, based on their personality/character. So it all depends on the individual doll.

    17. August 10th is an important day for me and Gabriel; It is the day she stopped being an 'idea' and took on a physical form. That is the day she was delivered to me and that is what I consider her birthday to be.

    18. Unless there was a very good reason to not use a date, there are options that would decide a birthday for me:

-the day of the box opening for a completed doll,
-the day of completion for an incomplete doll
-or! a day specifically worked out for an existing character I was giving the doll, since whilst I don't believe in star signs, I often use that type of detailing in my rp characters

    19. I'm a weirdo....I just picked a day that felt right to me. Yes, I'm nuts, I know. :sweat
      Also.....my boy is coming around Christmas. I based his birthday on another date because if it's too close to Christmas, then my parents might just use that holiday as an excuse not to buy him a birthday present! ((aka, some nice new clothes or more props)) This is a problem I have with my other doll, whose birthday is December 14th, so I want to avoid this with my new boy. >>;;

    20. My doll's birthday is the date of their arrivals :)
Except for my unoas, since I brought them to someone irl directly so the day of purchase.
