How do you feel about fantasy hair colors?

Apr 25, 2013

    1. I like both and use both. However, certain colors look better for certain costumes/personalities. Most of my dolls have really neutral so styles so it doesn't allow me to put absurdly bright colors on their heads.

    2. Personally I like natural hair colors more, but it really depends on the character that's displayed. Some can pull off fantasy colors really well.

    3. While most of my characters so far have very naturally colored hair, I've always liked the look of fantasy colors in wigs. Since the majority of my dolls are shells for existing characters, though, I haven't been able to get any wild colors for them so far. So I've simply been enjoying others' wig choices from afar, and eying the hues of some of the wigs that come in via the GOs I run.

However, I've got a group of "elemental spirits" I'm pulling together that aren't based on anything existing at all, and for them, I'm fully planning a set of brightly-colored wigs to coordinate with their respective elements.

    4. I think I lean to more of the "fantasy" colored wig, as most of my characters that I create tend to be inspired by mythical creatures.
However, it depends on the doll for me and the faceup. I know eventually I'm going to get a doll and do a more dramatic "fantasy" like faceup and will probably throw on a fantasy colored wig to match said faceup.

I've found that I really like Leekeworld's wigs.

    5. For me, it all depends on the character. Fantasy colors don't faze me at all (I have a story set in a semi-realistic setting and the twins have blue hair), but I usually have a pre-determined way I think my characters should look. Sure, sometimes the perfect wig comes along that completely changes my perception of said character, but more often than not I already know what I want.

    6. I like both. For me, it depends on the doll and outfit. I don't like clashing colors, but if a fantasy wig works, then I'm happy.

    7. I like both but I tend to go more for the natural because I like the styles that are offered better? which is stupid since most of my characters are supposed to have NOT natural hair colors lmaooo whoops~

    8. I honestly, prefer fantasy hair colours for my dolls. Maybe because I see a lot of natural hair colours, or maybe it's because I've always liked them but am not brave enough to do one on myself.
I like natural too though. I imagine my collection will have an even mix of both fantasy and natural :)

    9. I actually like fantasy colored wigs, though I tend to lean more toward natural colors for my dolls.

I have an overall tone I go with for each doll I work on and until now none would suit crazy hair colors. I got a MNF Chloe for Christmas though, and I'm thinking of making her a little hipster. She may end up with a colorful wig or she may end up natural... who knows. For me, it's more about the style of the wig more than the color. The style has to suit first.

    10. Both! Having said that, I just bought a horrendous wig that was supposed to be wine red but turned out to be bright red, and it's so bright that it's like pink, even. Plain wigs are good for days at home, and fantasy-coloured ones if I'm going to be taking them out for an event, I guess? I actually choose colours first, then style.

    11. I like both, though I'll chose one depending on the character. I look at more fantasy wigs than natural colored wigs mostly because I love seeing the different color combos as well as how different colors look in wigs in general. c: Natural colored wigs with unnatural highlights are probably my favorites though.

    12. I tend to pick natural colored wigs for my dolls, but I do like fantasy colors! Especially for Elf dolls or other fantasy creatures. If I would buy a fantasy colored wig for my doll I would probably pick a multicolored wig, though.

    13. I depends on the character. If it's an elf it's ok with me.

    14. I like it if the wig matches the doll's color scheme or outfit. I like gentle pastel colors on paler dolls and more saturated colors on darker dolls. But it really depends.

    15. I'm all for unnatural/fantasy hair colours! But I have unnatural coloured hair myself. I've had my hair have every colour possible, working around the colour wheel mostly. My dolls have unnatural coloured hair as well. My Dominic even has a rainbow wig! :dance

    16. Both for sure....I am a sucker for anything lime green, just because lime green is my happy color :-) I'm also partial to naturalish silver and red wigs.

    17. Love it! I have a job where I HAVE to have a natural colour (I miss way back when it was bright purple...ahh University days XD) so being able to go mad with my dolls is awesome!

    18. I have both ^_^ I think sometimes when going for a specific photoshoot, I will change the hair style/color accordingly. Most of the time though, I go with natural hair style to go with casual outift~ But one of my girl is forever lolita style, and she has coral pink hair xD

    19. I probably prefer natural but I like fun colors as well. Especially as some have metioned if it goes well with the outfit.

    20. I love fantasy hair colors, especially soft pastels. Of all my dolls, I think only one has a realistic hair color. That might change in the future as my four planned dolls all have plans for realistic hair colors as well, but I can easily see two or three of them with something a little more unreal, as none of their characters are 100% set in stone. Very bright unnatural colors (fire engine red, lime green, cobalt blue, etc.) is definitely a no go for me though. They tend to look TOO wig-like whereas the softer colors seem a bit more natural.
