How do you feel about fantasy hair colors?

Apr 25, 2013

    1. For me it depends on the character. If it's a human character I tend to prefer natural realism. But on fantasy characters I love alternative hair colors.

    2. Exept for one that have bright red hair (which isn't really a fantasy hair colour I think), they all have very natural colours of hair. Of all my dolls, counting the off-topic ones and exepting the red-head one, I have two blondies, one with dark brown hair, and three with chocolate brown hair.
Though I do love fantasy hair colour (mint, turquoise and purple are my favorite) and wouldn't mind having a doll with this kind of hair colour, I just need to make a fantasy character !

    3. I like having both around, but it always seems like I'm lacking in fantasy/anime hair colors. If I had to pick only one I'd probably go with fantasy colors..

    4. Oh, I love them-- it just really depends on the quality of the wig, though. A good quality wig in beautiful, fantasy colors? Yes, please!

    5. I love fantasy colors! Most of my wigs are fantasy colors. I like natural colors but for some reason I just gravitate towards fantasy colors.

    6. I've got dolls with both natural and fantasy colors.

I have a lot of fantasy dolls, so it only makes sense. And some of my dolls are realistic... and they sometimes have realistic colors, but they can also wear fantasy hair colors if it suits them.

    7. Fantasy hair colors is a MUST for me. Seriously, I have one doll character whose coloring changes as he grows, and so will his offspring, so I need a lot of different wigs that aren't typical colors.

    8. I want to say I like fantasy colors.... But at the same time, I hate the only fantasy colored wig I have :/

Though I do have a couple OC's with fantasy color hair that I want to get dolls for, so we'll see how that works lol

    9. I kinda have a preference for fantasy coloured hair. I love pastels, and sometimes non-natural hair really brings the colours of an outfit together, better than any natural colour would.

    10. I agree with MedTek17 a doll's character will influence either fantasy or natural hair colour. I do like natural hair with colours in it but if the wig is good I really like soft pinks, blues and green colours as well!

    11. I used to love colored hair so much, even i had colored hair for years. But colored hair is considered the female neckbeard so i just want to stay out of that drama. Seriously if you have colored hair and disagree with the wrong person, its a death sentence.

I mean i guess for dolls its different but i think doll owners get judged through their dolls still. Colored hair is beautiful, but i just want to stay out of it is all. One of my dolls has partially blue hair though, and i dont think itll change no matter how neckbeardish it ends up.

    12. Hahaha! I want to know more about this "colored hair is considered female neckbeard" thing. I have never heard of this. I'm intrigued. I used to have colored hair myself. I loved it! I still consider dying it pink and purple and blue and what-have-you. :)

    13. It isnt really anything to worry about for most people, but considering most of my friends are still in their edgelord phases, im a bit concerned about it myself. Its like how neckbeards dont even look bad themselves, its just crazy people seem to love neckbeards. Its the exact same with colored hair. Like a lot of the loudest extremists from the internet usually have some kind of colored hair. Its tiring when people assume im gonna tell them to check their privilege based on my hair color, plus colored hair is always labled as trying to be a special snowflake.

This all only applies if youre stuck around people who are like 20 and under though really. But thats the story of the female colored neckbeard.

    14. Ha... I guess I've never heard of that term. I know what you mean. I mean I guess if you're going to have crazy colored hair, have to have an out spoken kind of personality. Haha! But I'm not outspoken or out going. I just always liked colored hair. It's fun. But I am getting to that age where I'm not sure what's appropriate for me. Haha!

    15. Before I got my bjd I loved fantasy hair colours! But for some reason, after I made a fantasy colour wig for my bjd I hated it! So at the moment, I'll be sticking to natural colours. :)

    16. I prefer natural hair colours compared to fantasy ones. Somehow they don't look right with my dolls' faceups and don't complement them too well, even though their character demands it lol.

Maybe I've just been choosing the wrong colours!

    17. My own hair is a candy coloured rainbow (I'm in my 30s and not trying to be edgy. I honestly think I look good with rainbow hair and get nothing but positive comments.) so coloured hair is something I love. Oddly though, only one of my dolls has unnatural hair colours, blonde with pink and blue. I have one with blue hair, but that character isn't mine. I really need more crazy hair characters.

    18. I love fantasy hair colors, but I still feel like it has to fit the character and race/species (if other than human). Like, black people look good in pretty much every hair color. Caramel skinned people look good in certain tones, but not neon or autumn colors. ETC. Same goes for dolls.:thumbup

    19. I can only have fantasy hair colors on dolls to be honest. Natural colors are just... Boring to me.

    20. I love unnatural coloured hair both in real life and on dolls. I wish I could dye my own hair in an unnatural shade but my hairdresser has told me that it would destroy my hair. When my doll arrives there's a mint green wig waiting for her so at least she can have the colour hair that I'd love to have in real life.
