It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How do you pronounce "Leeke" and other company/sculpt names?

Jan 28, 2007

    1. I say it "loots" ^_^
      And Yder is "ee dar" (like gay-dar haha!)
      But I also pronounce Migidoll with a hard "g" sound. Someone once said "midgeydoll" to me and I had NO IDEA what they were talking about! :lol:

    2. I avoid saying company names out loud all together at the risk of being chastised for the wrong pronunciation

    3. Luts = Like nuts
      Iplehouse = Like nipple
      Bambicrony = Like Bambi (from Disney) and Crony like the Dutch 'roon', lemme think of an English word with the same sound... O yeah, moan. Like moany. :sweat
      Crobidoll = Crobeedoll
      Unoa = U and Noa
      Bobobie = BoBoBee
      Narin/Narae = I use the Dutch 'na' sound in it... It sounds like the English 'a' in 'dance' and 'after' with a 'n'. Not like the American 'a', what is pronounced like 'e' here.

      By the way, can anybody tell me how to pronounce Limhwa? :sweat

    4. Japanese would pronounce Volks "borukusu", I think.

      I pronounce Volks "Wall-ks"... That's so not right. XD;;

    5. Well... this will probably be wrong too but we have the Dutch word 'volk' and I just put an 's' behind it. With an 'v', the 'o' like 'wrong' and 'lk' like in 'talk' and with an 's'.

    6. I thought Luts is Loots... I say Loots. lol. ~Gus

    7. Iplehouse: Ip-ple house Bad right? XD
      Luts: After hearing MelMel-chan say it in a vid on YouTube 'Loots' is stuck in my head. XD
      Ducan: Doo-ken. Sounds like poopy. ><
      SOOM: Like Boom. Soooooooom. XD I like long o sounds.
      Unoa: Oo-noah >< Someone please don't hit me.
      Bobobie: I have no idea but I usually go wit Bo Bo Bie.
      Leekeworld: LEEK like the vegetable. LEEK - world. Except with that weird silent E in the middle.
      LaTidoll: Lah-tidoll.
      Crobidoll: Crow Bee Doll. It just looks that way to my brain.
      Lishe - It looks like Li-shhhh Because I would have the E silent. >< I'm prolly wrong.
      Bambicrony - Bam Bee Crone Ee... I see it there for it is I suppose. XD I hate pronouncing stuff.
      Cian: Sigh-an, because that was the way the pronounced it in a book I was reading. It was a gaelic, or maybe it was celtic, name.
      Yder: Yid-der. >< I should probably be shot at this point.
      Homme: Homm. Silent E again.
      Migidoll: Migi (kinda like MEGI on with the I sound.) Doll.
      Feeple: Fee Pl. Silent E. I'm big on leaving it silent if it doesn't look like something that would be easily pronounced.
      Narin: Nar - in
      Narae: Nar - ay

      Because I wanted to get in on the pronounciation fun. XD Names like these are why I like Dollzone. Nothing complicated there. XD

    8. Hmm.. either "Lutts" or as it's written.

    9. This is how I say them XD

      Luts- luhts, like "guts" with an L
      Iplehouse- eye-pull-house
      Soom- like zoom or boom with an S
      Unoa- you-know-ah
      Bobobie- bo-bo-bee ("bo" like the beginning of "boat")
      Leekeworld- leek-world
      LaTidoll- lah-tee-doll
      Crobidoll- crow-bee-doll
      Bambicrony- bam-bih-crow-nee
      Feeple- I alternate between fee-pull (this is usually how I say it, though) and fee-play
      Volks- like "Volkswagon" without the "wagon", or "folks" with a V
      MiniFee- either mini-fee or mini-fay
      Puki- pooh-key
      Migidoll- mig-ee-doll
      Cian- sigh-an
      Homme- homm-ay (I know this is about to sound bad, but homm sounding like the beginning of "homicidal")
      Sabik- sah-beak
      Yder- yid-der

    10. I pronounce "loots"

    11. Luhts
      Yidder
      Leesh
      Bo Bobbie
      Homeh doocan
      Homeh keyrill
      Oo-know-uh
      Ipplehouse (short e for the I)

      Man I sure do love those vowels when I talk.I misspell a lot because I usually type phonetically.

    12. I'm probably pronouncing everything wrong, but my Luts rhymes with nuts, Ipplehouse is "Nipple" house minus the N, and Bobobie is Boh-boh-bee. Soom rhymes with zoom.

      :sweat A related but whole different thread, is how to pronounce doll names! In fact, I'm gonna run over to the doll specific threads and ask how everyone else pronounces the names of dolls I have. ;)

    13. As for pronouncing "Volks", ever since starting to learn German and going to Germany, I've been pronouncing it as "folks", but with slightly more emphasis on the "l".... Owo;;;

      *sigh* Such confusion... it'd clear up a lot of random musings if companies just posted pronunciations on their sites. XD [Though I doubt how many people actually wonder this has crossed their mind! -w-]

    14. Funny. I just had this convetaion with my husband as he mis pronounces the names all the time and I look at him like a retarded Siamese all cross eyed with my head cocked to the side with one eye brow up.
      (no offense to Siamese, I have one my self and its the same look that he gives me when I do something dumb

      Any who... I have Japanese friends and Corean / Korean friends who I have conferred with about this.

      Luts - loots with a Long "O" (same as we here in Tampa say Lutz a city in the north part of the county)

      Iplehouse - eye-pull-house but they have said depending on dialect it could be Ipple-House as is nipple so I don't think there's a "wrong" way to say that one in English

      leekeworld - leak-world or Leek like the veggie but its said the same way

      volks - VOL-KS said just the way it sounds like Volkswagon (there are also car rims by the same name)

      Soom - S-OO-M like others said Zoom with a S

      Feeple - Fee-Pl as in you pay a fee, ple sounds more like people just drop the "peo"

      As for dolls off the top of my head
      Ydar - Yay-der
      Lishe - Lee-sh
      Ducan - Do-can or Do-cain (told its a dialect thing again)

    15. This is how I pronounce it:

      Luts: "Loots"
      Bambicrony: "Bam-bee-cro-nee"
      Soom: "Zoom"
      Leekeworld: "Lee-keh-world"
      Iplehouse: "Eep-l-house"

      This post is very funny, all comments are very original xD.

    16. Well Iplehouse is spelled in Korean to sound like Ee-pur-haus. But it's much easier to say Eh-pl-house.

      Luts is spelled in Korean to sound like Roo-ch (or Loo-ch if you prefer). But I pronounce it Lu-ts. Because that's how it would be pronounced in English, with the heavy "u".

      I can't find a way to Soom's Korean site, but I'm pretty sure In Korean it would be spelled like Soom and sound the same!

    17. 'Luts' rhymes with 'nuts'

      'Iplehouse' rhymes with 'nipple house' xD

      'Crobidoll' rhymes 'Toby doll'

      'Leekeworld' rhymes with 'Squeaky World'

      Ducan= I go between 'Dew-con' and 'Dew-Can'
      Homme- "Hom-ay'
      Sha = Sh-aw
      Lahoo = lah-who
      Kirill= 'Ker-ill'

      Mir= rhymes with 'her'

      Uh... yes...

    18. i say Yder like I-dehr~Ducan- doo-cahn like tucan but without the long "u" sound and the a like an "ah"~Luts a friend has always pronounce it like luhtz-lutz so it got stuck on me~Unoa like oo-no-ah~Lishe like lee-sheh~Dolkot like doll and cut doll-cut~i used to think Homme was like homie but i started learning french so i learnd its like "ohm" (french!)~Ipplehouse I-pel-house~and when i read Bobobie i just "tarara" it in my mind and hope no body mentions it!

    19. I say:

      Soom - Zoom with an S instead
      Bobobie - Bobo Bee
      Migidoll - Mee gee Doll (with guh not a juh type of G)

      And for the Fairyland Puki Pipi I say Pip Ee I dunno, what anyone else says

      And Yder kinda how it looks Yee-Der

      Homme - Kinda like the frence 'homme' for man but with the H

      Camine - Kah Mine

      Bobobie: "Bo-bo-bee"
      Iplehouse: "eeple-house"

      Dolls:
      Sard: sounds like "lard" (I'm SURE that's wrong)
      Beryl: Kinda like "barrel" but with an "i" instead of an "e." (Probably wrong. xD)
      Shall: "Shall" as in "I shall eat pie." (Most likely wrong.)
      Sha: "Shaw" (bleeeeh)
      Petsha: "Pet-shaw" (xD)
      Camine: "Kah-mee-ne" (probably wrong)
      Yder: "Yih-der" (oh dear)
      Homme: "home-ee" or "hawm" depending on my mood. xD
      Kirill: Like "krill" with an extra "i"
      Mir: Like "myrrh"
      Lishe: "lish-ee" (aaaah!)

      Etc. xD
