1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    4. :) I say

      Iplehouse: 'IH-pul-house'
      Ys: I like saying this :D I say it like 'eees' but with a super-short, super soft y sound at the beginning.

    6. i think that the proper pronunciation is "loots" but I'm just used to call it "luts" XD

    7. Ok, I didn't read the whole 15 pages (Sorry, ^^;) But can someone help me out with the following?

      Shiwoo (I say She woo)

      Pukifee (I say Puke-EE-Fee)

      Puki (I say Puke-EE)

      I feel like such a moron when I say these out loud.:blush

    8. I guess I pronounce it close to "nuts" but, uuh.. this sounds weird, but I guess I say it as if I were pronouncing the "u" as if it were an "i", but it's still a u. XD;;;; So it's just a shorter sound than people usually use when they pronounce a u sound.

    9. I think whatever works for you and as long as other know what your saying is a fine way to pronounce things XD.

      If one wants to be really technical though, looking at the Korean websites will give you the native pronunciation. Though with companies like Luts, the English site is pretty much spot on for how the names sound in Korean.

      I did notice this (주) 루츠돌 at the bottom of the Luts page. It basically reads "(ju) rucheudol." Which kinda sounds non-sensical until Ru-cheu (Luts) and dol (doll). In Korean it would be R instead of L at the beginning. They don't start words with the "L" sound very often/if at all according to my Korean prof. So Loots would be a closer pronunciation than Luts (I'll still end up calling it Luts most likely XD).

      Shiwoo and Chiwoo's names are, in Korean, more like Chi-o (치우) and Si-o (시우).
      O and U often get romanized as -woo, there's really a fair amount of give in how Korean get's 'translated' so to speak (like with the last name 이 it could be: Lee, Yi, Rhee, Rhie, Reeh, Yie, or Ee).
      What they have on the English site I'd simply say as She-woo or Chi-woo.

      Lishe is a bit funny in Korean. It's actually Risui (리쉬) pronounced more like Rees-oui (oui as in the French way of saying yes). Her name is probably more like "Lee-she" but I tend to say it like "leash," fail! XD

      Yder is Ida (이다) prounounced like Eedah. Why they didn't just go for Ida or Eda as a romanization I'll never know, a lot easier than Yder (which I've ended up saying as "yehdurr") XD.

      The Minifee and any of the other -fee would be said more like Mini-FEH. The "E" in Korean sounds like "Eh" whereas the "I" would sound like "Eee".
      So 포키폐 (Pu ki pye) would be Poo-key-fyeh or feh.
      Here are the PukiFee names in Korean:
      시우 = Si-o = Shiwoo
      조이 = Jo-i = Zoe
      플로라 = Peul-lo-ra = Flora
      보니 = Bo-ni = Bonnie
      앙뜨 = Ang-ddeu = Ante (so "Ahn-teh" would be closer than "Ahn tee")
      *the double dd here actually means that the D sound is pronounced differently, not doubled. It comes closer to a T sound.

      On that note, Iplehouse would probably be Eeplehouse instead of Eyeplehouse. Roughly, I think you could spell it like 이플 허스 = Ipeul heoseu, pronounced "Eeepool hawsu."
      They don't have the ai (short 'I') sound in Korean. So actor 이 준기 (I Jun Gi) would be called Lee Jun Key and not Lee Jun Kai.

    10. Lol, I was pleased to see how many I actually got right in my head. I do however always think of Bobobie as Bobbie even though I know it's wrong :(

    11. It's kind of strange.. my mum pronounces most of the names differently from how I do.

      Soom = Room with an S
      Luts = loots (My mum pronounces it Luts, Nuts with an L)
      Iplehouse = Eye-pull-house (My mum... Ipplehouse, like nipplehouse -n)
      Minifée = mini-Fay
      Migidoll = mee-gee-doll
      Leekeworld = Leek world
      Crobidoll- Crow-bee-doll
      Lishe- Liche, like lice with a "sh" sound on the s
      Cian- Kay-n
      Aida- eye-da
      Ryu- Ri-yu , but said slightly quickly between 2 syllables (out of habit though, from practicing japanese >.>)
      Latidoll- Lah-tee-doll
      Ante- An-ti
      Narin- Na-rin
      Homme- Homme xD
      Shiwoo - She-woo
      Pukifee - Pu-kee-fee
      Puki -Pu-Kee

      Copy pasted from other people....

    12. Now that I think about it, how do you pronounce "Shiwoo?" Is it SHEE-woo [how I pronounce it] or SHY-woo?:?

      I suppose I should start reading this thread to find out.:doh*_*

      Edit::doh:doh:doh I should have read the top of this page! Yuu-chan doumo arigato! I think I'm going to keep pronouncing it as SHEE-woo, since it seems to be okay, according to what you say.

      Ryu

    13. Another copy and paste :)

      Soom = Soom like room
      Luts = l-uhts
      Iplehouse = eye pul house
      Migidoll = mi gee doll
      Leekeworld = lee key world (a lot of the website has it written as "LeeKe" so I think there may be two parts to it?)
      Lishe = leashe
      Cian = sean (i've met a guy with this name and it's how he pronounced it.. so! now i do! XD)
      Ryu = ree you
      Megu = Mii goo (this one killed me forever until i heard it spoken on yo gabba gabba, so if someone speaks japanese better, correct me if it's not how i think it is?)

    14. I think around here, we approach about all of the company names from the English language. But I guess some of the names like Luts are influenced by our own language so it turns into some kind of Charcoal English.

    15. Yuu-chan, thanks for the Korean pronunciations. I think that's about as close as we can come to "official" ways to say the names.

      I pretty much have given up on knowing what the "right" way to say most names would be, myself. Although I do try and get something close into my head before I get used to saying something that is too far off! :)

      For instance, I have the pronunciation of Lishe stuck in my head as "lish" (like "dish" or "fish") even though I figured it was more like "lee-shee". I just seem to prefer it! *_*

      Like saying LUTS rhyming with "nuts".

      I'll have to adjust my pronunciation of Iplehouse, because I was saying it more like the person above (like "nipplehouse"!) :)

      Yder, I've always pronounced as Ee-der. Ida I'd say as Eye-dah, Eda as Edda... so I didn't mind the Yder spelling, although it IS confusing.

      I think most people will figure out most pronunciations, even if they are off a bit. It's just something that comes with various languages getting mashed together. :)

    16. Soom - Soom? XD I just say it like it's spelled.
      Luts - Loots
      Iplehouse - Eyepullhouse
      Minifée - Minifae
      Migidoll - Meegeedoll
      Leekeworld - Leekworld
      Crobidoll - Crowbeedoll
      Lishe - Leash
      Cian - Cyan (the color XD)
      Aida - Eye-eedah
      Ryu - Ryoo
      Latidoll - Lateedoll
      Ante - Anteh
      Narin - Narin XD
      Homme- Ohmm
      Shiwoo - Shewoo
      Pukifee - Pookeefee
      Puki - Pookee

    17. I actually don't know how to pronounce resin. O_o Is the emphasis on REZihn, or res-IN?

    18. Kandi_Slave: REZihn. :)

    19. Well this is nice to know! I've been pronouncing it leak aswell. Good to know I'm not alone!

    20. ooh. interesting thread. my sister says 'leek', like the veggie, so i have just been following that and not even considered it would be pronounced differently...

      I think i'll still be calling it 'leek' though, its faster to communicate and im used to that now so changing it would just be a pain. good to know though if i meet others and they use that name so i won't get confused now! -thanks :D
