1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you pronounce "Leeke" and other company/sculpt names?

Jan 28, 2007

    1. XDD it's good to know I can continue to pronounce it Ipple-house.
And I've always wondered about Leekeworld, good to clear that up XD
@EmilyG I've always pronounced Sard like "lard" as well. . . Does anybody know what the true pronunciation is?

    2. You are correct. "Sard" is the name of a mineral and that is how it is pronounced.

    3. Thanks for the correction :D Now I don't have to keep thinking about how to pronounce it the right way >_>

      Now that's hilarious XD

    4. Personally I just pronounce some companies the same way I pronounce some names...What sounds right.

Leeke - Leek like the plant

Unoa - U-Noa like adding a U to the name Noah.

      Narae-Narin - Na-Ray Na-Rin

Minifee - Exactly like it's spelt.

      Obitsu - O-bit-su.

      But that's just me.

    5. when water escapes has to be my new favourite definition XD

    6. Luts - I had a friend with this last name and they pronounced it luhtz
bobobie - after reading a lot of these im embarassed because i just ran past the word always ive been saying bo ba bee
      Iplehouse - eye puhl house
      Migidoll - mi gee doll
wow im gonna stop because having to type out how i say these is making me realise how incorrect ive been saying everything i must rethink my entire vocabulary

    7. I study languages and travel a lot. I have found that in America & Britain there is a certain, shall we say, lack of importance placed upon pronouncing non-English words correctly - & YES there most certainly IS a 'correct' way to say such words - it would be the way the native speakers of that language or the country in which said company originates say the word. If a word is a name, company or otherwise, the correct way to say it is the way the bearer of the name says it. So if you really are serious about wanting to know the proper way of saying Iplehouse (for instance) instead of just explaining to everyone how you like to say it, then ask Iplehouse, or one of their reps. I can figure out how to (roughly) pronounce the Korean names because I read Hangul. The Chinese & Japanese, I have to ask (which I DO). As for someone correcting my pronunciation - that's GREAT! If they know the right way to say something in Japanese, and tell me, I'm grateful. This kind of 'correct way of pronunciation' is MUCH different than dialectic differences, BTW

    8. I think it's like "Lee-Kehe"

    9. Lee-kay
      ipple-house
      yoo-noah

I'm probably pronouncing half of the sculpt names wrong (oh god the chinese ones) but the companies I can pretty much do! :sweat

    10. Leeke: Leek (like the plant) or Leek-eh (depending on my mood xP )
Unoa: Yu-No-A (it's how it's spelled in Japanese, so that's how I read it)
      Luts: Loots
      Obitsu: O-bee-chu
      Crobidoll: Croh-bee-doll
      Migidoll: Mi-gee-doll
Minifee: Mi-ni-fee (as in custom fee, etcetera)

that's all I can think right out of the top of my head...

    11. Oh, I KNOW - I have no clue for about the Chinese names for the most part (unless I've been watching a Taiwanese drama using that same name - it has happened...)
