1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you pronounce "Leeke" and other company/sculpt names?

Jan 28, 2007

1. This thread is so funny to me. I thought when I joined, that everyone already knew the proper way to say these names, and I always hoped I would figure it out before I ever met one of you guys in person.

2. Ducan = I say Duncan, but I try to make myself say duck-an?
Ipplehouse = eyeplehouse, but I've heard it both ways
luts = lutz? I dunno how to type it out, just what the majority of people say
soom = like soon with an m?
bobobie = all i know is every time I say it sounds like boob. <_<
crobidoll = cro bee doll
unoa = u-noah?

3. I try and pronounce naes according to their country...

Leekeworld- Lee-keh-world
Luts- loots
Bobobie- bo-bo-byeh,

When I don't know how to pronounce a doll name, I checkt he korean page and see how it's written in Korean..
For example I checked Luts' Korean site for Lishe, and it's written (you'll need Korean on your computer to see this) 리쉬, which I believe woud be pronounced something like 'ri-shwi' or 'li-swi' so I call her 'Li-shi'.

4. Iplehouse - Eye-pull-house
MigiDoll - Mih-gih-doll
Luts - Luh-tz
Ducan - Dew-Kan
SOOM - (like zoom or doom)
Unoa - Ooh-No-Ah (lol, don't you feel dirty? it's like they're begging you to stop whatever it is you're doing.)
Bobobi - Boh-boh-bee
LEEKEWORLD - Like the vegie, Leek, or in the pipes leak.
Latidoll - Lah-tee-doll
Crobidoll - Crow-bee-doll

This thread is hilarious. I'm sure I'm mispronouncing. I'll check Iple, but I can't bring myself to call it "Ipple". Japanese reckons "Ih-pu-ru". So *sigh* it is like Nipple.

Damn.. Luts just says "LUTS desu..." :/ baaaaarggg. Not helpful.

Sorry!

5. I pronounce said companies the same way :)
I also have a problem with the dolly names :lol:

6. Luts: as in rhyming with nuts
Leekeworld : Lee-key world
Ducan: Doo-Kan (though I used to say doo-cun)
Yder: Ee-der
El: like the french elle though E. L sounds more masculine
Soom: rhyming with zoom
Volks: like the car "volks"
Cian: ky-ann
Iplehouse: ipple- house
unoa: ooh-no-ah
crobidoll: crob-ee-doll
migidoll: mig-ee-doll

I guess a lot of it has to do with where you yourself are from (i'm british) and your dialect (southern england)

those are my pronounciations anyway hehe

7. Strange how many versions we get... yet understandable since English is crazy to begin with. We have words that sound the same and are spelled differently, and words that sound differently and are spelled the same. It is no wonder we have a hard time figuring out how to say new words when we only see them spelled out. *_*

Here is my rundown...
Iplehouse - Eye-pull-house
Luts - Like "nuts" with an "L"... or another word without the "s" which was the first thing that popped into my head seeing the title of the thread. :sweat
Ducan - Dew-Kin
SOOM - (like zoom or doom)
Unoa - Ooh-No-Ah
Bobobi - My brain inserted an extra b in there for the longest time... I sill find myself saying "Bo-Bobbie"
LEEKEWORLD - Leaky-world
Latidoll - Lah-tee-doll
Crobidoll - Crow-bee-doll
Iplehouse - Like nipplehouse, but no n
Lishe - Lee (like the name)-sh
Bambicrony -Bambi-kraw-knee

I'm most likely wrong on most of it, but hey, the people I talk to about doll stuff know what I am talking about, so unless the company has an issue, I will continue to say it how I have been. Thankfuly for the most part, we can all just type it and have it get translated in our heads.

8. I'm pretty sure it's "Ki-an"...but that's just because there are a whole bunch of irish people that live around here and that's how they say it... :P

9. Lol lol lol, I just made a recording of me saying the names mentioned here... The funny thing is that I always pronounce them with some kind of Amercian accent, though I'm Swedish and usually speak English with a HEAVY Brittish accent...
I guess though that my Swedish origin makes me want to pronounce them a little differently... Like Yder and Lishe, I never thought of pronouncing them in ANY other way than the ways I do because they'd sound more like the way I say it if it was said in Swedish: an e at the end of a word is always pronounced etc.

Here's the recording... :sweat: *hides*
Hope it works, I've never done anything like this before...

Edit: Realized I should probably write what I'm actually saying... Here it is, in order:
Luts
Iplehouse
Latidoll
Migidoll
Bobobi
Yder
Soom
Cian
Lishe
Unoa
Ducan.

Yeah.

10. ^_^() I never really though about it. I always just said "L-uh-ts", like 'Nuts', like other people have said... Then I realized that if I were pronouncing it as a Japanese word, it would be "L-oo-tsu" or something similar... but it's not Japanese company, it's Korean... right? And I know NOTHING about Korean.

11. I say "Why-dur" for Yder. XD That's so blatantly wrong.

12. When I first saw Luts I thought it said Sluts. :sweatdrop

I got tired of pronouncing Bobobie so I gave up and just started saying boobie.

Here's my list of seriously wrong ways of pronouncing stuff.

Ducan = Pecan with a D.
Yder= Wider
Unoa= Rhiana with a U
Migidoll= MeggyDoll
Iplehouse=Triplehouse minus the TR
Crobidoll=Crowbardoll
Leekeworld=Leakworld
Bambicrony=Babbycrombie

I'm surprised noone has smacked me for mispronouncing everything.

13. "Luhtz"? xDD

And others:

Homme - hoh-meh
Ducan - doo-can (as in "canned food" xD)
Iplehouse - ipple-house
Unoa - yoo-know-uh
Bobobie - boh-boh-bee or boh-bah-bee, even if I first read it as "boobie" xDD

14. I say 'Unoa'

Like: 'Ouu Know Ah. 'xD
Well, I don't know how to spell out the pronounciation of 'U' in Japanese, but that's how I say it.

Are they even Japanese?!

15. Well i often typo it as sluts so the same way you'd pronounce that =3

16. like "Louts"...

17. I love this thread~ I'm sure my pronunciations are horribly off, so I try to avoid saying them out loud, ahah:

Luts: Nuts with an L
Yder: Yee-Der
Lishe: Lish or Leash, I alternate
Iplehouse: Eyeplehouse. I just can't say nipplehouse :)
Bobobie: Boh-boh-bee
Leeke: Leak
Soom: zoom, with an S
Latidoll: Lah-Tee doll
Unoa: You-noah, and I'm sure I've butchered it

Whoohoo, garbled wooords~!!

18. Luts - Sluts minus the S
Iplehouse - Eye-pull-house
Latidoll - Lah-ti-doll
Lishe - Leesh (Like what you put your dog on? :lol:)
Yder - Yee-darh
Soom - Zoom with an S
Leekeworld (Leek (Like the vegetable)
Unoa - Ooh-noa or You-noa, depends on my mood I guess. xDD
Bobobie - Bob-oh-bee
Ducan - Doo-can (But I called him Duncan FOREVER until I noticed there was no n. ><)
Bambicrony - Bambi (like the animated deer) Crow-knee
Cian - Sea-ann (Like the color cyan?)

Good to know we all sound nuts when talking about doll companies with eachother. :D

19. This is how I say them~

Luts- luhtz
Soom- like zoom with an s
Iplehouse- ihpulhouse
Lishe- LEE-shay
Cian- KEE-an
Ducan- doo-CAN
Yder- EE-der
Unoa- oo-NO-ah

20. I wasn thinking about how to pronounce Unoa today on the bus.
@_@ Speak of the devil, I guess.
I say 'ooh-no-uh', but if you translate the official site on babel fish, it says 'yunoa' so you gotta wonder.
