1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you pronounce "Leeke" and other company/sculpt names?

Jan 28, 2007

    1. luts would rhyme with huts for me

    2. hahahaha! that really cracked me up...that and butts LOL

    3. once when instead of saying Bobobie I said boobie, i was so embarrassed T_T
      But i've always think Luts as Lutz

    4. This is how I say/think some of them XD

      Luts = rhymes with nuts
      Soom = rhymes with doom
      Iplehouse= eye-pull house XD (sounds macabre)
      Yder= ee-dur
      Lishe= rhymes with wish
      Cian= sigh-an
      Unoa= you know a XD
      Crobidoll= Crow bee doll
      Leekeworld= Leek world
      Feeple= rhymes with people (BUT, minifee is mini-fey in my mind! I'm odd.)

      Anything that looks Japanese-ish (Narae, Migidoll, etc) I would likely pronounce with Japanese phonetics, since I have no experience with the Korean language.

    5. This thread is AMAZING. XD I am SO GLAD I'm not the only one who struggles with pronunciation for dolls/companies!

      Does anyone else pronounce "Volks" without the "Vee" sound? I always say "Folks," probably due to my studies in German. xD

    6. How intriguing. I've been trying to figure out the proper pronunciations, but people keep saying different things are right so... I don't know. >.<

      Here's what I say.

      Iplehouse: EE pull house
      Luts: A combination between loots and luhts... it's like the oo in rook.
      Ducan: DOO ken
      SOOM: rhymes with room
      Unoa: OOH no ah, with the emphasis on the first syllable.
      Bobobie: Common sense to me. It's just boh BOH bee.
      Leekeworld: I just say LEAK world, but I think LEE keh is more correct.
      LaTidoll: Again seems like common sense: LAH TEE doll.
      Crobidoll: CROW bee doll
      Lishe - I say like... LEE shah or LEE sheh, like a combination between those two...
      Bambicrony - BAHM bee CROW nee.
      Cian: KEE an, because the color is pronounce KY(rhymes with die) an. So I just switch out the y in the color with the i in the doll's name.
      Yder: EE der, and for some reason it irritates me when people say it any other way, even though I don't know if the way I say it is correct.
      Homme: Hahm.
      Migidoll: MEE ghee doll (with a hard g, not like MEE jee doll or something)
      Feeple: FEE pley
      Narin: NAH reen
      Narae: NAH rah eh

      Really? It's not boorukusu? I've been writing it wrong in e-mails to a Japanese friend. Now I feel embarrassed. :sweat

    7. I always thoguht it to be Luh-T-Z

    8. I went to the Korean version of some of the website and looked up the Korean pronounciation of the names.

      Luts= Loots (rhymes with boots) but I pronounce it like it rhymes with nuts since I've been saying it this way for a while.
      Cian= key-ahn
      Iplehouse= ee-pull-house
      Leekeworld= Lee-keh(like in ketchup) but I pronounce it as "leak" cause it sounds better, haha.
      Crobidoll= kuu-ro-bee-doll
      Yder= ee-duh(as in dumb)
      Lishe=Leash

    9. I pronounce Luts like Luh-ts
      Soom like doom
      Ipplehouse like eye pl house
      LaTiDoll like lah tee doll

    10. nuts+L...
      me too~

    11. The colour Cyan is pronounce "sigh-anne," not "kee-an," or "kie-anne" like the pepper.

      I would assume "Cian" is "cyan" spelled different.

    12. I say Luts as luhts (ryhming with nuts like what wakaya said)...

      The only one I really wonder about is Leeke...I've always heard people saying Lee-kee because its spelled as 2 separate words sometimes on the website or emails or something like that (not sure where). Saying "leak" would just sound weird to me now that I'm used to hearing it the other way.

    13. Oh, I'm SO glad I'm not alone in this...
      I always avoid saying the names outloud...

      For me it's..

      Iplehouse: EYE-pull-house
      Luts: Loots
      Ducan: DOO-ken
      Homme: Homie (Wasssup, homie? xD)
      Leekeworld: Leak-world
      Lishe: Leash
      Migidoll: Mee- Ghee-doll. (Hard G. Not like Miji.)

      ...xD

    14. i thought cian was like a different spelling of kian, so i said it like that. xD;

    15. Really? Everyone here pronounces the y with a long vowel sound. Maybe it's a regional thing?

    16. I always pronounced Bobobie Bo-BOB-ie, but I met a lady at a con who used to sell Bobobies and she pronounced it Bo-bo-boy. ???

    17. Actually in Ireland Cian is pronounced "Keen" or sometimes "Key-an". It is an Irish name though so expect it to sound nothing like the way it's spelt :lol:

    18. This is fun.
      Bobobie- bow bow bee
      Lishe - Lee she
      Homme - omm
      Luts - like in nuts
      iplehouse - like nipple
      bambicrony - bam bee crow knee
      Leekeworld - leak world
      latidoll - la ti doll
      Yder - eee der
      Ducan - doo can

    19. Haha, I pronounce it with "V" - two days ago I met up with another collector and she pronounced it with "F". It was quite funny, I would ask her "WoW, where did you get that?" - "Oh it's from Folks" - and I went "WTF?? What's Folks?" Haha, after a while I realized what she's talking about :lol:
