1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How do you store your BJD, clothes, and accessories?

Feb 5, 2015

    1. I keep most of my dolls in their original boxes in the closet of my spare room. This is mainly true of my SD dolls. The MSD dolls are stored in three sets of stackable chest of drawers that I purchased and assembled for that reason. Some have the dolls in their pillows in them while others hold dresses and wigs for these smaller dolls. I have a plastic container with compartments that are just right for sets of eyes. I do not have any of my dolls out unless I am doing something with a particular one. My home is very bright and near the ocean so unless I used black out shades I am afraid they will get to much light. I try to keep all of my doll things in that one room.

@LadyMadrigal I too have a collection of those boxes you spoke of. They are so pretty and are easy to organize. I use the large suitcase like ones to hold gorgeous custom gowns for my SD girls as they allow room so that crinolines and flowing trains are not in danger of getting crushed. Others that look like fancy covered old tomes I use to store a plethora of wigs and shoes. Some of the smaller ones hold clothing made especially for my Popovy girls. They make for a pretty sight stacked neatly.

I have several special needs cats, the result of volunteering for two feral cat rescues. They are never around the dolls. However, I have one who is allergic to everything under the sun including other cats so I have his bedding on a special cabinet in that room. Because he can not be around any sort of regular cardboard boxes, carpets, rugs, and can only sleep on 100% cotton in a mostly dust free area, the doll room is better for him overall and keeps him out of the vet's office.

    2. I have a thing for vintage suitcases so I'm starting with those for storage. Plus they fit on the top of the closet

    3. I just use a box to put clothes in and that's about it

    4. Most of my dolls recently got moved to the bottom of a glass fronted cabinet where they are out of the range of direct sunlight. Most of the boxes are stacked on top of the same cabinet.

    5. All of Nadeko's stuff is in one drawer of my own dresser and some of the small props that she doesn't use often are kept in a drawer system that was originally an art set. Her spare hands and her favorite bear are with her all the time (in her box at the moment). The only things that I keep in her box are her papers, pillows and face mask. I really want to get her either a dresser or one of those cube shelving units from IKEA.

    6. i put dolls in their box while i put everything else in a dresser.

    7. in these ^^ diff size boxes are organize to different dolls and a few extra (not in sets of 3 sizes boxes) for stuff that doesn't fit in the others .... I also can use them to carry smaller dolls to meet ups.

They have sticky tabs on some as I was still trying to decide how to organize them lol (on the middle shelf on the right I have some outfits in their original boxes they came in as they were LE full sets it's the boxes. I have discovered i have enough doll jewlery that I am going to empty and store "MY" old jewelry that I don't wear anymore and use the stand up case for the doll stuff. Loose shoes go in one of the cases but I also have a dresser drawer with special boxed ones too. The wig box... eh heh... gonna have to rethink that one since the wigs must be breeding... box is full ... no idea why LOL

    8. I just recently went about using jewelry wire and some tiny clothes pins to make hangers for all of my doll clothes. I keep my dolls on a bookshelf, so on the bottom shelves, I put in some screws and ran some hemp cord to make clothes lines. I'm going to get (or make) a curtain to cover their "closet" to keep out dust and cat hair. Their shoes are lined up on the shelves.

As for their other accessories, I have them in the plastic drawers (pictured on the bottom shelf here). I've since moved them to another shorter bookshelf, and I have my eyes stored in plastic sorters as well. For wigs, I have them all stored in a doll box that I have removed the pillows from.

    9. oh I love this! And wow can't believe how dumb I've been not thinking to grab one of those desk top organizer drawer sets :doh such a basic idea... All I could think of is how I don't like (have no space) for the giant ones. feels dumb now lol... and an idea for the curtain/door... try magnets. Depending on how many/much you use you could seal (so to speak) the opening shut ^^... you mentioned 'cats'... they would be kept out better too.

    10. I have a plastic container for most of my assorted doll clothes, though I'll likely need a new one soon as its already pretty full

    11. Umm i have my face up tools and fabric stored in tupperware in the garage.
Her extra wig and shoes in a box.
And most of her clothes in her room which is on top of my dresser inside of my closet. I found a dresser/ nightstand at michaels and i bought a clothes hanger on ebay and i have a jeweler organizer as a coat hanger.

    12. I've been searching Craigslist and thrift stores for something to display my dolls in. I have a picture in my head of what I want, but my wallet keeps telling me "No!". Harumph. I would love a glass front china cabinet, but it just doesn't fit the budget. I did find an adorable pie cabinet that I can store my stuff in, I just bought some of those cute fabric shoebox sized storage containers to keep the shelves tidy.

    13. Since I've started collecting, I've stored my doll items/ dolls in an extra dresser drawer I had located in my closet. Until recently, I purchased a small wooden hutch that has opening doors. I bought little baskets to divide and organize the items in.

    14. For clothes: plastic boxes used for baby-clothes/clean diapers etc. With teddy bears pictured on them ;)
For wigs: a wooden box from some alcohol. I don't have too many wigs tbh...
For shoes: empty chocolate boxes, tin cases etc.

    15. My BJDs are on my dresser; my 3 floating heads are wrapped in bubble wrap stored in a shipping box. I fold my clothes up
and put them in a wooden chest.

    16. All of the clothes, wigs, and everything else go in plastic storage boxes.
While I put the eyes in those tiny sandwich bags and put everything in a box inside of my closet.

    17. "My MSDs live in a wooden diorama-type box that my dad made for me. It hangs on my wall"

That sounds like exactly the sort of thing I want, but it will probably have to wait until we move house in November and I see how much space I have. In the meantime my 3 dolls sit on the top of a bookshelf, out of direct sunlight, and their stuff is stored in Really Useful Boxes on the shelves below.

    18. I like to see my dolls so have them out of the sun, but where I can sit and look them.
I live in the sub tropic in the north of Australia, so storing anything in plastic won't work especially during summer. I have some old heavy cardboard school cases from the 60's that work wonderfully well. I have to say though, that some of the set ups on this page are very impressive.

    19. I have a small-ish trunk for all my clothes and the small accessories and props, mind you I'm relatively new to the hobby and only have three dolls. The couple of large props I own are currently stashed in a quasi diorama set up underneath my bedroom desk. The boxes are stashed in a back corner of my closet.

My dolls themselves spend all their non handling time in a cute cardboard trunk I can easily shut and shove under the bed if they need putting away for any reason, namely dust.
But I've found its a great way to have them around because I can grab the box and go anywhere in the house and just open it like this.
      [IMG]My favorite storage technique or...
It's instant dolly display in a box. I keep spare hands and a pocket toothbrush in there so I never have to go get them when I want a different look or need to fix messy hair.

    20. I have currently a sewing bow full of clothes, and a trunk like box full of accessories. I will one day get a wardrobe though, but for now this will work XD
