1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you store your doll's clothes and shoes?

Jul 21, 2011

    1. I've gone a little crazy with trying to make clothes for my doll, so I had to up grade to a mini shelf system.

      I'll post a picture tomarrow~

    2. I have a massive amount of clothes for Chaeri. No, really, I mean MASSIVE. I have a plastic storage tower that I keep them in. I also have a smaller plastic zipper bag for Riri's "portable" wardrobe--seasonal stuff and what she wears most often. Her shoes I keep in a metal heart-shaped tin that used to hold candy. Most of her wigs are in a plastic zip bag that used to hold a comforter. The ones she wears most often are in a smaller white plastic box about the size of an index card file. This last doubles as a seat for her, which is cool.

    3. In Really Useful Boxes (avoid the green ones - colour transfers and stains your stuff) and other boxes, separated by size and gender of doll: They are stored on a shelf long run of three shelves above my (off topic) other dolls in our spare bedroom:

With thirty-something BJD's (How did it get to be so many) plus other types of doll, it's become quite a collection of clothes, shoes and wigs that needs storing!

    4. Really fun thread! I'll be needing some containers soon it seems..

    5. I keep all my dolls clothing and shoes in a big recycled material bag. It's not the best method, that's certain, but at this time I don't have a heck of a lot of spare outfits for my dolls so it works.
I do keep some doll specific outfits in their doll boxes under the pillows just to make them easier to find.

    6. Thank you, Maple Squad! When I finally decided to take the TV out of that armoire and use it for doll stuff, it was really a LOT of fun to do! I've found these armoires can be found for $500.00, if you really look, and they don't take up more room than a chest of drawers. Plus, there's something really satisfying about hanging up all the little clothes and having all the clothes and jewelry and shoes laid out in front of you when you're dressing a doll. And, I like that the big drawer gives me room for the large things, like stands that never really fit anywhere else. But, I supposed you could use it for wigs as well. I keep my wigs in a big, vintage suitcase that lives on top of the armoire. Before I decided to use the armoire, I really wanted to get an old steamer trunk and put a lot of rods in it. But, those things are EXPENSIVE!! You could also find a really large, vintage suitcase and fit it with some kind of curtain rod and put it on its side.

You're really smart to store your dark clothes separately from the lighter clothes!!! Some of the dyes could transfer. And, a neat artist case!! KEWL!!

    7. Good thread. :)
I use some silica gel sachets (you may buy them on Ebay) in the containers and bags to keep the clothes dry and fresh (it avoid bad odor and humidity).

    8. This really is a FUN and helpful thread!! We've all invested SO much time and money into this hobby and the clothes and eyes and shoes are so expensive and that investment should be taken care of as well! So, I have a question; where are people finding the little 'jewelry' boxes that look like doll-sized chests of drawers?? I'd really love to have one or two of those as well.

Oh, another thing I've found works well for storing eyes are those plastic bead organizing boxes. You just fill each little slot with a square piece of foam and use an Xacto knife to cut two X X's in each square. Then, you can sink your eyes into the foam. Your whole eye collection can be staring up at you so you can see all of them at a glance and they're not rolling around. I find that, when I used to store them in their original cases, I'd forget what all I had.

    9. right now i'm using those little plastic dressers that you can get a walmart for clothes, wigs and eyes and i put the shoes next to them in a straight line. I need a container for shoes as well :)

    10. I have been a Himstedt collector for years so changing to BJDs makes it a lot easier to store clothing.

    11. In a massive wicker hamper all separated into outfit type, accessories, shoes, wigs etc.
Its full now so I'm in a bit of a dilema!

    12. Teddy love your storage!!!

    13. I have all of my doll clothes layered flat in a large cardboard box. The shoes are all lined up in the box too.

    14. Eheheh, Well, I'm not 100% sure where I'll store their things yet, but looking at what resources I have, they shall probably be stored in shoe boxes. Lord knows I have a lot of them, since I love shoes(And I don't see the point in throwing away perfectly good boxes when they can be used to store things).

    15. I store them in doll's boxes.

    16. Thankfully I haven't collected TOO much...yet! I have separate plastic bins for wigs and shoes. For clothes and outfits I bought these "pillow" boxes from Uline (http://www.uline.com/BL_5619/Pillow-Boxes?keywords=pillow). They come flat and you pop the ends in to create a space for the clothes. I bought 2 sizes in the clear plastic and have the pillow boxes stored in plastic bins, separated by size. The clear plastic makes it easy to see what is inside and I like that the clothes don't get crushed.

    17. Wow, you guys are really organized! My dollie stuff is stored in those underbed plastic totes, not under the bed of course, but stacked about as high as I am tall. It is only vaguely sorted by dollie size, so it is all very chaotic. I guess that happens when the one dollfie turns into 14. How did that happen?

    18. I only have one doll right now with a only a couple of outfits. He has a little laundry basket (in scale) that he throws whatever he's not wearing into

    19. Please move/delete this if it's in the wrong forum!

So I'm curious, where does everyone store all your BJD related items, not just the dolls, but everything from wigs, to shoes, to supplies for face-ups and modifications?

I currently keep alot of different items in each of the doll boxes I own, but those limit me to the organizational aspect, and I'm trying to get it so it's a little easier to find the wig I'm looking for, or the shirt and what not.

    20. I have a doll room for everything. It was supposed to be a child's bedroom, but in my case, the dolls ARE the kids. :P one entire wall and a table are set up as "rooms" for them, including bedrooms, art room, play room, gamer/music room, den/bar and bathroom. Appropriate accessories go in these rooms. To the dolls that have their own bedroom, their stuff is stored in a trunk or dresser in their room. To the dolls that don't have their own bedroom and just hangout in the "community rooms", they each have their own box of stuff under the table. Doll boxes and extra wigs are in the closet. Doll eyes and tools/supplies, faceup stuff, care stuff, etc is on my crafting shelf near my sewing machine.

My entire house is slowly being taken over by the dolls.....>.>
