1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you store your doll's clothes and shoes?

Dec 16, 2004

    1. In my room, I have a particular drawer for all my doll items which are all stored in transparent, plastic and clean food containers which were all specifically bought for each item. Haha...

    2. My dolls live out of a carry on suit case. I have a large Ikea shelf with baskets that hold their supplies (wigs, paint, tools, etc.) and all their clothes are in a carry on suitcase that zips up and fits on rubbermaid tub under my sewing machine. It's not attractive, but it's functional and my dolls don't mind... :)

    3. I have a bureau in my spare room. The boys have 2 drawers of it, and I'm planning on emptying out more for them. I also have a sort of table top oak hobbyist chest for their little stuff.

    4. I use a shoebox. Each item gets rewrapped in it's original packaging then stored in the shoebox :/

    5. I love this thread. Lots of neat ideas for storing doll things. I am just getting into sewing for my bjd so I need to come up with something to put my things. I would love to have something nice looking to put in my doll room... a little trunk or doll wardrobe would be nice.

    6. Currently, my roommate and I use the box her Acherner came in to store everything. It's all sorted out in different ziploc bags by color and doll size so we can pretty easily find what we're looking for.

    7. I collect BJD kimonos. I have them stored in partially opened ziplock bags in a drawer. Theyre so beautiful Iam looking to buy dollfie torso forms to display them all. At some point in time.

    8. I have all of Snug's stuff separated by shirts, pants/shorts, shoes, jackets/misc. in ziplock bags that are all together in a Sterilite container that has a snap-on top. ^_^

    9. I found a large dresser type jewelry box with small closets on the sides and an opening top for my girl's clothes at Walmart. I also found a doll closet at a garage sale that I'm going to clean up and stain for a quarter.

    10. In the endless hunt for Things To Sit Giant Resin People Upon Once They Arrive (that has been going on for precisely a month now; it'd be so rude to bring them in and not offer a place to sit after all) I stumbled across a few nice chests of drawers at TJ Maxx. They'll do for furniture in a pinch and handle small storage nicely. Naturally they are in two vastly different styles, one being 'Badly-Done-Fake Rococo In Dire Need Of Repainting', and the others being very streamlined and modern, almost like mini file cabinets. At $20 each, they were hard to beat, and should handle most of the small stuff the crowd has coming... except for the wigs. I just have this -thing- about wigs, so there are already enough of them to fill a small storage bin I had handy.

I can't suggest those multi-drawer taboret-style cabinets enough. They come in almost every style imaginable, and every price range, with and without wheels. I suspect that once I start making clothing, I'll condense things from one of the ones I current use for general art stuff into another and swipe it for their clothes. Sadly, I can't find any more of the ones like the ones in this pic: http://pics.livejournal.com/surreality/pic/00013ykq/g31 (ignore the overflow of beads) or I'd grab a few in advance. Office Depot stocked them for a while, but then they seemed to never get their reorder on them, and they were perpetually backordered. They were a little more pricey than most (closer to $40-$45 than the usual $20-$35 I see in other types/styles), but they had a 'table style' solid laminate top that was genuinely flat and could be used as a decent work surface, and could support a good deal more weight than most similar storage cases without any sign of buckling, bowing, or caving in.

    11. I tend to stash it all in my carrybag. And when I actually use it to bring my dolls out, I just put all the clothes on my bed in the meantime. XD

    12. My boys get their own suitcase. Seriously, it's a standard rolling suitcase, with a baggy compartent big enough for the wigs ^.^;
Inside I have an old littlest petshop petstore playset that I keep their accessory stuff in. it has little shelves, so it works pretty well.

    13. shoeboxes! wigs, shoes, dresses etc. I also sort by size, and then boy/girl for easy finding. only trouble i have is the eyes. I dont remember all the sizes O_o

    14. Well, I don't have my doll yet, but other dolls I keep their clothes on a miniature rail next to my own on hand-fashioned hangers... o.o
And wigs, I imagine, I'll put on little mini headstands next to my own wigs. ^^

    15. If you have or can purchase a chest of drawers or an old cedar chest, you will find this a good place to keep the dolls clothing. They stay dry, no odor, there is no sunlight to discolor them. They are away from dust and grime. Shoes can be boxed inside the drawers so less chance of losing one from a pair.

    16. I don't have a lot of doll clothing yet, but what I do have fills an entire drawer of a three drawer storage cabinet that I have. Some of the smaller items are stored in a small ceder, doll sized chest of drawers, so its like she has her own furniture as well. :) Shoes... she doesn't own any; barefoot little gypsy XD

    17. Well actually I have an amazing facination with antiques.

I was at a antique shop across town and I found an awesome chest. Turns out it was a vintage lingerie chest. I was amazed at how well it was scaled and you can fit two perfectly lined up stacks of outfits. Stack boots and shoes in an upright orderaly fashion, and wait wait the best part is it was CHEAP! Omg that makes us doll owners happy so we have more cash free'd up for our precious dollies!

The chest is very similar to this but in an padded like fashion adorned with pink vynil, how cute!
I do however hope to upgrade to something more like this one pictured below. Lord knows I wont stop buying doll clothes! haha

    18. I've been keeping Nicolette's clothes in an empty cookie tin that used to hold chocolate coated cookies. Nico's clothes usually smell nice and sweet. ^_^.

    19. So far I have been just storing the clothes etc. in the box (I use it as a couch as well). Hopefully someday I will find something that works better, but for now (as I don't have to many different items) it all fits fine.

    20. For my doll I just put his clothes in his box, lol. He doesn't have much so I guess that's why-but if I had more I'd probably store them in one of my drawers :]
