How do you store your doll's clothes and shoes?

Dec 16, 2004

    1. I have slowly been collecting nice storage boxes for each of my dolls - you know, the kinds you might store photos or other mementoes in. Sometimes they have hinged lids that stay shut using magnets, sometimes they are more like a large rectangular hatnbox in that they have a box bottom and a lid. I try to get ones that are covered in a paper or a fabric that suits each of my dolls' personalities.

So far I have boxes for Rika, Rachel, my Bambicrony twins and my Lati White. I am still looking for boxes for all my boys. :) It's harder to find masculine-looking boxes.

    2. I have a lovely copper colored hat box that stores most of their clothes and shoes and within that, several smaller, plastic containers that originally held some delicious Korean pastries, (and the larger, VERY pretty pastry box holds some of their extra resin bits) :)
Special accessories that I feel they need with them at all times, (little books or drawings, special hats and jewelry that's just for them personally) go in their boxes with them when they're 'sleeping'
The oodles of eyes I have are kept in an antique silverware box I picked up at a yardsale last year.

    3. I store my doll clothes in several different doll boxes. I have several dolls who generally have their own sense of style and dress, so I sort the outfits into the boxes of the dolls that they're meant for. I have also noticed how some outfits age over time, so I have also recently decided to store each outfit in the respective plastic bag or case that they came in, stick scotch tape with the outfit's respective name onto the bag/case, then sort the outfit into its respective box. Most of my outfits are bought from Volks, so they usually come with their own plastic bag and "freshener pouches." I'm sorry but the name of the little pouches escape me. This keeps the outfit looking new as long as possible and free from staining one another.

    4. Right now all my doll stuff is in a plastic bin - started with a shoebox size one and quickly had to go up a size! I need to get a separate bin for their Christmas stuff, since they have a lot of it already. Eventually I'll probably get one of those plastic things with drawers, so the stuff can be kept separated, but since I only have one doll so far (though I have clothes for others already!) the bin is working fine.

All my supplies for faceups (I'm getting a practice head soon!) is in a shoebox, but the lid doesn't fit on it. I need to get a bin for that, too.

    5. All the shoes, dresses and other stuff i put in an old looking suitcase.
and that just stands in my room.
But it is becomming pretty full,
so over a little wile i have to think of something else:lol:

    6. It all seems to go in a box with my spare materials(clothes making) for the moment, although i am thinking of moving them so they're seperate.

    7. I have a Rubbermaid cart on wheels I use for doll storage right now. Eyes and sale items go in the top drawer, wigs and accessories in the middle, and clothes and shoes go in the large bottom drawer, along with a mini cedar chest. Outfits generally stay in bags unless they're being worn. Nothing fancy or extremely organized, but it works.

    8. I have a closet dedicated to their stuff. I have most hanging on hangers {the longer dresses and such} I also bought a doll clothes rack for pants, and it has a place for shoes. that is sitting on some three drawer bins and I have clothes in there, some in baggies{if there alot of accessories}. plus I keep the wigs on stands, and their eyes and smaller accessories..
I also keep their props in the closet too...chaise lounge, a big wooden swing, highback chair, picnic table, wicker chairs...etc

    9. I was just thinking of buying a big lovely hat box for the clothes, at the moment all the clothes are in a big shoe box (a boot box actually), but I need a bigger one for storage since my dollies have plenty of clothes.

    10. My Grandmother is always buying cosmetics and gets a lot of free cosmetic bags that she ends up giving to me because she doesn't know what to do with them, so I use them to store clothes and shoes in. With any luck by the time my boy and girl arrive I should have one for each of them filled with clothes and accessories.

    11. I have a computer paper box full, but i am building small hangers and hanging them up on a rail that used to hold my cloths, but now has a chest of drawers under it, so mine won't fit there anymore. but there is just the right amount of space to fit all my doll cloths! so they will all hang in my closet soon!

    12. ^_^ I just moved house and got rid of a bunch of my old clothes. Now I have big draws to put them in! ... now I need to get more clothes to put in there.

    13. I store anything in the boxes the dolls came with.
I don't want to draw the boxes out and so they still have a purpose.

    14. I have a big plastic box for my dolls' clothes, wigs, other heads(.. ) and etc.
there are 4 small wheels, so it's easy to move.
And I keep my face-up materials in a big yellow paper bag(from OPUS, haha)
My dolls are kind of displays in our family room with other small dolls, decorations, and my pictures.
I love to go and stay in our family room =D

    15. Since we were re-arranging things around the house, and also getting prepared to move into a normal house soon (hopefully...), my mom let me have one of her mini dressers to put my dolls' clothes, shoes, wigs and other things inside. I put the tiny things in the top drawer, which is shallow, and the clothes and shoes into the middle drawer, and the biggest, deepest drawer is for the wigs. xD

Before that I used to just shove all the unopened packs of clothes into their respective boxes they were shipped in, and just threw them all under my bed. lol

    16. I've a big box I store the clothes in (actually one of the christmas boxes from Lush - so everything smells lovely after a while in there! ;D) - they all go into zip-lock bags, relating to style and who owns what.
Lately I've got too much for one box so I've started using the more sturdy shipping boxes. Eventually I want to get a proper dresser for them (or at least some less DIY storage) but right now I haven't the room for it anyway.

    17. I have this adorable little patchwork design mini trunk which I keep Danny's clothing in... Heres a picture of it, its in the bacground:

    18. When Artemys didn't have very many clothes I just kept them in a small bag, (or on his bod) and as he accumulated more stuff I started putting them in a small plastic basket. But it kept falling over and things would get lost. So at one anime convention in December, I happened upon a manga dealer who had boxed sets of Bleach manga. He was selling the books seperately rather than in the special edition boxes I guess, because he had two of the boxes on the shelf he was getting "rid" of. When I asked him if he would sell it to me, he offered it to me for 5 bucks. It's a very pretty and big box, with very nice pictures of all of my favourite Bleach characters on the sides. and it has a nice handle and had a free double sided poster inside. I use this box as a dresser for Artemys.

    19. i was keeping them in a drawer, but the drawer kept breaking from being too full, so i've been keeping them in a storage chest now.

    20. The same way I store my own clothes xD
