1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you store your doll's clothes and shoes?

Dec 16, 2004

    1. I keep all my doll clothes and clothing accessories in a large plastic storage container under my bed. It's about 2' long, 1.5' wide, and about 4" tall. All their outfits are still in the original plastic bags, so they take up a lot more space than just the outfits would!

      I also have an old 2-drawer nightstand that holds things. The top drawer holds props like a picnic basket, pillows, flowers, etc. The bottom drawer holds all their shoes and wigs.

    2. There are tons of American Girl sized doll trunks on ebay (the ones that aren't actually AG brand are much cheaper), and MyTwinn trunks too. I make my own trunks (well, I customize blank trunks) with wallpaper, bamboo clothing rods, dollhouse mirrors and paintings, and little mini-trunks for accessories. I'm a little obsessed with doll trunks, it brings me so much pleasure to decorate them, and some are so filled with furniture and so forth that's there's no more room for the doll clothes. See my flickr below for pics. I periodically sell them as my DH (dear husband) will throw a fit every once in a while over the amount of doll trunks in the house!

    3. I have my dollie clothes in one of those big plastic boxes, but now it's not big enough :/

      I think I'll start looking for something else tomorrow. Those drawers sound like a good idea! Then I can separate the SD, MSD and Yo-SD clothes :D

      ETA: This thread is about storing doll clothes and accessories too: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4857

    4. Ok so i thought i was organised with my dolly clothes.

      -My doll eyes are kept in a small tackle box like container...its flat and a bit longer then copy paper.
      -Wigs are kept in one of my dolls boxes, and now in a plastic tupperware box (the size of a shoe box).
      -clothes were organised by size and placed in plastic tupper ware boxes the size of a show box...and then stacked in a linen closet near my room.

      My problem NOW is, that i have a large amount of stackable tupper ware boxes the size of shoeboxes with no where to put em! O_O;;

      What do people suggest. should i get one big tupper ware and sort the doll clothes into ziplock bags? im not sure what to do. anyone who knows me knows i have a rather large doll collection, and ive recently tried to tell myself that i should buy more doll clothes/accesories rather then buy more dolls...so im quickly accumulating clothes and no where to put stuff. O_o;

      how do you guys with larger collections organise all their stuff?? or do your dolls only have one or two choice outfits? (i like having spare wigs and eyes the most, and tend to keep a few spare outfits. )

      or should i just sort through and start selling stuff? (its so hard to part with stuff though. :( )

      let me know please!

    5. I only have one BJD at the moment, and she doesn't have a lot of clothes to begin with...so I've been getting away with putting what she has into a large ziplock bag. MSD-size wardrobes would be lovely, but I think they're more for show than anything else. Besides, it would be a bit of a hassle to bring them to and fro my dorm *_* I think Rubbermaid is a great idea though--might have to upgrade to that soon :lol:

    6. Clothes, wigs: In an old shoebox 8D
      Wigs and shoes go in their separate baggies though. My doll eyes are in a mini wooden trunk I bought at Michael's, my doll jewelry is in a miniature jewelry box. Everything else is just put on the two shelves I have dedicated for doll stuff. (Including my doll's miniature booze collection, lol)
      (it's starting to overflow though... I'm going to need to rethink things)

      One of these days, I'd love to make a nice big armoire for them.
      My patterns are better organized however, each pattern has it's own separate, labeled ziplock bag.

    7. wish i could have a doll size wardrobe......

    8. There are actually some wooden American Girl (and AG-scale) dolly wardrobes and armoires that might work for MSD-size dolls, and My Twinn has one big armoire in their catalog that could work for SD sizes. But they're all on the pricey side, and they don't look like they would hold more than a couple of outfits...it's more of a display piece with some storage functionality rather than a serious storage solution for large collections of doll clothes.

      (My tiny has a jewelry armoire that she's "using" as a wardrobe for photoshoots, but due to the little shelves on the inside of the doors it actually will only hold a couple of pieces of non-bulky doll clothes; mostly it's actually being used to hold her fanciest hair ornaments.)

    9. Try evilbay. I got a really nice wooden one, an old Barbie Stormbecker wardrobe for about $10, which I plan on refinishing and fitting out as a 'portable pixie home/storage' for my pukisha. Most of the AG ones are still stupidly pricey due to their poplarity.

      Ironically, within a few days of starting to browse these forums and finding all the great clothing resources, etc, it's become apparent that won't be enough to even hold what I've already ordered for him, much less the two other dolls I'm now waiting for.

      So, after browsing through this thread, I plan on getting one of those hanging closet sweater storage things (Like this), and then get some clear totes/shoeboxes (Example) for each doll's clothing and some of these fantastic small craft/hobby tins (From Lee Valley) for small parts, eyes, accessories, etc.

      I keep hoping that if I'm organized enough, it means that things will stay manageable. Not that I'm organized anywhere ELSE in my life, so I don't know why I think it will work for THIS either. *_*

    10. My Dolly Stuff is currently shared between a DollHeart box and a Quality Street Tin XD (both of which live in the bottom of my wardrobe)

      I'd love an SD sized wardrobe but I doubt I'd be able to find a practical place for it lol

    11. My doll's stuff is in two wooden chests, which seemed appropriate since he has medieval belongings.

    12. I want to buy my girl maybe a little dresser or a wardrobe, but until I can afford it I think I'll be storing her clothing in the box it was shipped in and keep it handy.

    13. thank you Smilla & Maleficently for the info...
      actually i want to make one by myself LOL

    14. I took over my husband's sock drawer ^^;;
      He was okay with me moving all of the socks to another drawer, he's such a sweetie! ^^

    15. Right now I don't have so much stuff, So I keep it all in the laptop case I use to carry my boy to meets. It's got a fold out pocket in the back, a clip pocket in the front for things like cameras when I take him to a meet, and lots of little pockets on the inside for his clothes and eyes. All this and theres still room for an MSD and a cusion, or three MSDs, if one is extremely careful with the case. I'll need to try something else as my collection expands, ^^

    16. All my doll clothes/accessories/wigs are in small boxes, (dollheart boxes xD) in a drawer. I fold them up and keep them like that. I don't know if this is the best way to store them but it is definitely convienient for me since they do not clutter up my room. :D
      I keep most stuff in the cases in comes in.

    17. My gang has a tiny dresser! >.> That can hold puki clothing...
      All the bigger stuff is folded behind the dresser lol.
      I need to get something better.

    18. I put them in an overflowing shoebox.

    19. old ice cream containers :)

    20. I make (and sell) little hangers for Anne's 60cm clothes and Erin's 10cm clothes. Also, I have a little trunk for accessories and shoes. But I hang up all the clothes. Keeps them wrinkle-free and I can see them all. I have skirt/trouser hangers with clips and shirt hangers without. I took a coathanger and bent it into two loops, so it's like a closet bar now. Parallel to mine, so I see all their clothes in the same way. ^_^
