1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you store your dolls day to day? XxX

    1. One is a WIP and sits in my closet until I have to-scale clothing, the other just hangs out on my workdesk in random poses.

    2. My dolls are "free range" all over my home. No issues with dust because I handle and move them around a lot, and am usually in the middle of something with them -- they're posed somewhere for a photoshoot, on the sewing table, being a "work buddy" in my home office... If they're secure and not at risk of falling over, I put them down and leave them wherever, including on the floor (I stand them on the floor a lot). I live by myself, have no pets, don't wear shoes into the house (Asian practice) and keep things pretty clean, so I'm able to do this.

I try to reduce light exposure when I can - I don't leave my dolls unattended in places where direct sunlight is going to hit them, and keep curtains drawn especially when I'm not at home. But I like having dolls constantly on display -- I play with them a lot and they make my home look different from week to week. So I've settled that they're going to age and get yellowed over time.

    3. I play with my dolls a lot but I keep them in boxes when I don't. Since not everyone has their own box and I can't fit all doll boxes I have on one shelf, they share - it's usually 2 dolls per box but the massive Souldoll box easily fits all 3 of my slim minis. I take them out whenever I feel like hanging with them, I usually switch between slim minis and the regular MSDs so it's not all of them all the time anyway.

Sometimes I take one out to hang out next to the TV for a couple of days but the light from the outside can get a bit too intense to keep them there long term (all books on the shelf are heavily faded so I can see how it can do some harm). Ideally, I would love to have a shelf to keep them all out on but there's no such space unfortunately. Hopefully some day!

    4. Bookshelves. They are crowding out my books!
And some are big enough that they have people-chairs.

    5. I go 3 billy book cases (in oak), with glass doors ( white wood frame) I have chanced the door handle ass well :). 2 of them is now home to most of my dolls, ( still need to sort my dolls out :P . maybe not all will stay, only time will tell, but there is room enough to all of them) the glass on the door have some window film with flowers on, to protect my dolls from sun, when I have a open widow normally I keep curtains drawn most of the time. My dolls are facing away from the sun, so hopefully they won't yellow too quickly :) All dolls have stands and my one porcelain doll is sitting in a chair. its not that I don't trust them, I have just reed enough from here to rather be safe than sorry ;).

    6. With my current living situation and level of hobby interest most of my dolls are currently stored 2 per box in various company boxes under my bed. Some are out on a tall dresser in the middle of the room where there is not that much direct sunlight.

    7. I keep most of my dolls on one shelf in my room, far from the window.

I do like to keep one on my work desk since I wfh. I like to have a doll of the week that I play with (posing, pictures, change clothes), usually one of my MSDs. This also helps me keep them from getting dusty since each one will get a chance to hang out at my desk.

Unfortunately, I think I may need a new shelf soon, my current one is getting running out of space. :sweat

    8. Since I have not finished customizing my guy yet, I still keep him in his box! Nice and secure where the wip faceup won't get messed up and won't have sun exposure before he gets a full set of clothes.
One day I hope to display him though, so I won't have to open the box every time I want to see him jaja

    9. Majority of my dolls sit on the nightstand near my bed. I have one that stands in its doll stand in front of my bed in front of my television while my baby like dolls are in a separate room in the house altogether.

    10. I am one of the people that can only enjoy their dolls if they are out for display, buying something that expensive and then not having it on display all the time would feel like a waste to me. I also handle them a lot and if I would have to get them out of boxes every time that would ... just not happen with my executive dysfunction.
I only have one room completely to myself and I also have plants in there, so I can't and don't want the blinds closed. I do try to keep most of the resin crew out of direct sunlight most of the time, but I am not overly fussy about it. I don't plan to sell them and if they yellow evenly that is fine. Most of them are made out of pretty modern anti-UV resin as well.
As to where they are in my room ... in a lot of places. They either have their own sitting spots like a couch chair or bean bags, a few of them on my own couch, so I have them pretty close to me. I also have a Detolf shelf which is mostly the home of the big resin boys and some tiny guys, but I rotate that as well.

The house technically would have enough rooms to make a dedicated doll room possible, but they are not renovated, to put it mildly. Maybe that will be a project for the coming years.

    11. I just started collecting last year and recently moved into a new home so I am finally able to display some of the dolls I have. They have a little closet to themselves, but this only allows them to mainly sit. I normally keep it open if I'm home unless I'm at work or traveling. I just purchased a new billy bookcase with glass doors to be able to display my dolls standing.

    12. I have them all displayed in my craft room on a Billy bookcase. All the windows have blinds and curtains as well to minimize sunlight. Sometimes I’ll bring a couple dolls out my craft room to display in another room. I really enjoy getting to see them and interact with them:love.

Back in the day I was so afraid of getting my dolls damaged that I kept them undressed and boxed up most of the time. It took a lot for me to accept that wear & tear and yellowing happens; I enjoy them a lot more now on seeing them on display.

    13. My most special dolls are kept in my room on a few shelves. My room is to the back of my house and there is no direct sunlight there so they are safe in there. Some of them belong to my mom so they are kept in the living room along with some other off topic dolls and statues. In my room I had to move my doll arrangement around as I started collecting anime figures again and my collection has grown very quickly in less than 2 months so I’ve had to get a bit creative especially as I got several 1/4 figures there now :ablink:

    14. I have a doll room, bigger ot dolls are displayed on open bookcases and the bjd are in wood display cabinets with glass doors. My pc is in there and I also have a comfortable chair so I spend a little time in there every day.

    15. I'm grateful for this thread, and the many fantastic ideas. Right now, all my dolls live on top of a bookcase or on floating shelves. I have a huge problem with dust, and am looking for another way to display them. While I don't mind cleaning the dolls themselves, I dislike having to wash their clothes. I think I'm going to look into a display case for my room, where they also won't get as much sunlight to possibly damage them. As much as I love having them out in my family room, I worry. My other issue is space. :sighI gave up two of my dolls to my sister to make room for a new SDgr. Between the dolls, their clothes and my massive collection of Japanese doll books, I'm in trouble lol. Luckily, I'll be able to downsize a bit more of my off topic dolls this weekend so I can focus on ways to display my favorites.

    16. I have my dolls in my bedroom (also my office as I work from home) in a glass cabinet. I've got a blackout curtain on the windows so I am not too concerned about them getting exposed to lighting because of that. And then I have 2-4 on my desk for "emotional support" reasons as my job is high stress and chaotic.

Basically I like to be able to see them and interact with them!

    17. Currently most are in their boxes, there are a few heads on a desk in my room that are slowly (as the weather here is dreadful for spraying) getting faceups and about 9 tinies sitting on some shelves. It’s far from ideal, I need to make space for shelving of some kind and I’m hopeless at that :doh

    18. I keep them on the shelves and so far only the white one has yellowed, but that specific white was already a little yellow to begin with.

    19. Most are on the dealers place to be sold I got a few back because there was no agreement on the price and a few because some local people showed interest . Never heard from those people after they understood what effort a bjd needs (they were barbie people) so after some contemplating if I am keeping them or not cause I got in temptation I sent them back to the dealer. The ones there is no agreement are cushioned in a wooden trunk box in the bottom of my closet till I decide. If I keep any dolls they will be displayed in an upper bookcase shelf
