1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you store your dolls day to day? XxX

Dec 21, 2015

    1. I used to display my dolls on my desk in direct sunlight because my desk is in the living room and we have no curtains or blinds (actually none of my rooms or curtains or blinds). But my dolls ended up turning really yellow especially after I took a break from the hobby for a few years and neglected them. I recently came back into the hobby again (though I sold my big boy) and this time I converted my music room into a dark room where I covered the windows with black boards to keep out the sunlight. The room is permanently dark now unless I go in to play with my toys and turn on the lights.

    2. I also keep mine out. Resin yellows as it ages anyway, there's no way to prevent it 100%. I keep my dolls on shelves in my doll room, with curtains closed and the door shut. They're not exposed to heat anymore than they would be in a box, and they don't get direct sunlight either. I'm like some of the others--if I can't openly see them and they stay stored in box, I'm not interested in keeping them. I tried putting a couple in storage and ended up selling them because I had no interest in keeping dolls I often forgot I owned.

    3. I only have one haha but I have a small room/diorama for her so she spends her time in there while im at school or away ^w^

    4. I really admire you all for keeping them in eyesight, that's what I would want too... But, anyone else here who's annoyed to death by dust, like me? I patiently collect and put my dolls and their belongings into boxes after playing with them. I just can't stay cool at the sight of dust particles resting on noses xD

    5. When I need the "company" or am working on clothing I set my dolls up at my desk. But to protect them from animals, dust, and the threat of falling off the desk.. I put them in a little writing desk in my room. (I live in a basement so not much sun)

    6. I bought a nice display case this year to keep my dolls out in the open without getting dust on them, when I had just 2 tinies I kept them stored in their boxes, but as my collection has grown in number and in size I've found I most enjoy having them out for me to admire in their full regalia - and I am too meticulous to not keep them sheltered. I also keep the blinds drawn in this room when I'm not in it so that they don't get unnecessary light exposure.

    7. If you play with them often enough the dust doesn't get much chance to settle.

    8. I display mine on a desk which just happens to be in a corner of my room that the sun never reaches no matter which window it shines through. :)

    9. At the moment my doll stays in the box she came in on a shelf in my closet when I'm not doing things with her. ...But I'm wanting to make a carrying case for her, I just haven't bought supplies and gotten around to it yet. Once I make the case that will be where she stays.

    10. I keep all my lati yellows in a box in my closet... I have one yosd that sits on my nightstand.

I really want to get a cabinet for them all to sit in. That way I can see them all but their up and away from little hands. I also want a little curtain installed to close if I decide to open the blinds.

As for a "sleeping bag" off of etsy, you just have to be careful of their eyelashes and that the face up doesn't get scratched. Most people use those bags for going out to meet ups with their dolls. Though I have seen them used as wraps for storing them away in.

    11. Currently hanging out in my car's trunk because I'm moving around.

Its the only safe place I have to offer them while things are sorted.

I do plan on having a dolly room for them.
I plan on having them on display there while I work on outfits or stories for them.

I just really dislike the fact that they have to be kept out of the light. So, it will have to be a room covered in curtains.

    12. I converted my old wardrobe into a sort of doll room. My crew hangs out in there. When I want to display them or handle them, I just open the doors. When I am not working on them, I keep the doors closed. It's a great way to ward of dust, sunlight, and cats. I am kind of thinking of changing out the wooden panels for glass or acrylic ones, though.

    13. Mine are all out - either on bookshelves or in a storage cubby where I can see them. The bookshelf I have to cover on the days we have sun this time of year, because the sun will hit it for a little bit in the morning and mid-afternoon. I figure that they'll yellow even if they're kept in boxes, and I didn't buy them to keep in boxes - I bought them to see and enjoy. :)

However, I also don't have kids or free-roaming pets - just birds and small furry critters who all have a cage or enclosure to call home.

    14. I'd love to be able to keep them out all the time but since I'm sharing a room with my sister I don't have a lot of space to set them and I also have two bunnies in the room as well. They've been sitting in their boxes/carriers for a long time (due to some room renovations).

    15. I just got blackout curtains for my room, so they all sit on a small display in front of the window.

    16. My dolls are stored on a shelf in my room away from the window. Throughout the day they're usually behind blackout blinds and curtains but I open the window and curtains periodically to let some air and sunshine in. At night I have some really low lighting next to my bed but it doesn't hit them. I used to keep them in my wardrobe in their boxes but I never saw them that way.

    17. Right now my only BJD is in her box right above my bed. I like to keep her out of direct sunlight while I'm not playing with her. Hopefully I'll revamp my room a bit to have shelves where I can display her and my other off topic dolls. I'm also making her a house which will be used to display her as well.

    18. I'll be keeping mine in my boxes, as I have zero room to keep them out. I'll get them out when I'm home and playing though. I also live in a crazy dusty place, so there's that too. If I ever get to move, I'll dedicate space to them then. I don't like sunlight so that won't be a problem if they're out.

    19. I've got my dolls stuffed in a drawer in my room right now that's lined with scrapbook paper so that the sun doesn't get in. My apartment gets full sun all day so I don't leave them out in case of uneven yellowing. when I get some black out curtains I'll probably go back to the book shelve set up. <3

    20. My poor dollies sit in my closet most of the time. ;_; I have a very sunny house and am afraid of leaving them in the light too long.
