1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How do you store your dolls day to day? XxX

Dec 21, 2015

    1. Mine are always out. They share space on top of a short bookshelf in my room unless I've carried one with me to another part of the house. And since I'm a light lover, the blinds and curtains are usually open. I just make sure they're never in direct light.

I do want to get a dolly cabinet, but I always want to be able to see them and easily handle them. I know many people prefer to keep them boxed away, and of course that's fine, but I just wouldn't enjoy them as much if I did. I figured that out with my non-bjd doll collection. They're in boxes in my craft room closet, and I honestly couldn't tell you what most of them look like.

    2. They are displayed on my bookshelf (they have their own) away from the window. Just in case I ve blinds for the windows and I have one of those curtains that block out the sun

    3. I ended up getting a set of matched display cases with glass doors for my crew a few years ago... We had two big construction projects going on within a couple of blocks of the house, and live right off of a (very) busy road that produces a lot of road-grime all on its own, so keeping the gang clean had turned into a constant battle... They were absolutely Worth. Every. Penny. Those cabinets turned out to be a really excellent investment. The crew get to be out where I can see them and tinker with them easily, while still being protected from dust, grime, stray fuzz from my long-haired cat and the not-quite-as-careful-as-a-grownup attentions of the small and curious houseguests who occasionally come to visit. Glass-fronted cabinets really are the best of both worlds.

    4. My dolls, are my little family, and I keep them around me in my living room, so that I can see a doll wherever I sit, stand or go :)
I keep most of them in luminated glass cabinets, but since I also have a lot of Anime PVC figures, (which I want to keep dustfree) I don't have room for them all in my cabinets, so I keep a few on shelfs and tables. I would never get myself to hide a doll, it's like hiding away a loved one, I couldn't do it!

    5. I keep mine in the box it arrived in - in my clost with the closer dor closed :S

Before I got my first doll, I'D read a lot about limiting the dolls exposure to light and I think I made myself a little too paranoid about it D: when I told my MIL about it she said she thought it was a shame that I didn't have it out in display (esp. considering how much it costs?). I'm thinking of asking my contractor FIL to build me a UV acrylic/glass doll case for my birthday but I'm not sure that'd even be effective (or possible aaahhh).

      So in the closet it sits until the weekends when I have time to take it out ;_;

    6. I love all the pictures in this thread!

So I am in the process of moving and am debating adding a French curio cabinet and decore for my dolls in the near future. It's recently this was the area where I brought one or two out to display in the Flower Crowning Chair or Rose Sofa if I felt like it:

BUT! I am a "no sunlight/no dust" collector so the rest of my dolls live in their boxes organized in the closet -or- in one of two IKEA Billy cabinets with custom cut drape for the front so no light can enter either. I find beauty in their clean condition as well as their form factor! I love keeping a collection almost as much as the collection itself. /future docent :whee:

(Well, it's pretty lame but I didn't ever just take a pic of the exterior- not that I can find. If you look behind Alice in the following picture, you can see part of them and get an idea! :sweat

Please share more pics of your "doll rig"! I love all the ideas!

    8. Like a few others, I store my dolls on a shelf on my bookshelf! I'd really like to buy some vintage wallpaper and cover the inside of my bookshelf (to make it look more like dollhouse rooms) and cover that specific shelf with fake wood flooring/carpet of some sort... and of course tons of doll furniture, lol. <3

    9. Mine sits on top of a cubby shelf and is displayed with all of my other dolls, so she's right in sight whenever I walk into the room. I don't do anything too fancy with them, they're just all kind of displayed neatly in a row with stands holding them up or just sitting down. I would like to create a diorama and cute furniture eventually and display my dolls in them, like some do here, but I don't have the space or materials for that at the moment. One day though.... ^_^

    10. i only have one girl right now, but she's goes back in her box once i'm done playing with her. i have a dog, and i share a room, so leaving her out is dangerous haha ^^

    11. My girl currently stays stored in her box for now. I recently got a cat, and while I introduced the two, I'm not certain how it will be if I leave the two alone together. I would love to get a display case one day though!

    12. Most of my dolls sit on a couch in a wardrobe in my bedroom - the others sit on a chair in my bedroom. I love seeing them everyday and I admit to sometimes talking to them. My apartment faces north and I keep the blinds down, so I don't worry too much about yellowing.

    13. I have my dolls sitting on a shelf in my room out of the light, where I can see them everyday.

    14. They had a telephone table and settee, where they were for some weeks, but I bought a big corner unit with shelves, so the little ones (YOsD and smaller) sits on that, while Alicia, the only one SD sits on the settee.

(everyone on the teephone table and settee)

    15. I used to have mine displayed on my computer desk shelves in their furniture but then i got kittens and well ^^; i really didnt want my poor dolls to constantly be pushed off the desk and falling to the floor so they are now under my desk all sitting together in a fabric box that i lined with one of their pillows ^^
its a system that works for me becouse if i want to mess with them i can eisally pull them out from where they are and at the same time they are safe from my kittens ^^

    16. Wow, reading these comments makes me feel a bit guilty about keeping my girls in their original boxes. I'm extremely protective of them though and want to avoid any possible sun exposure. I do certainly like some of the ways people are displaying their dolls though. I may look at getting a case sometime with special glass to keep out the u/v rays. :)

    17. Right now I have the few that I have in their boxes. I have a kitten that climbs and jumps everywhere. Nothing is safe when she is around :( Working on getting a cabinet with glass/plexy front to keep little paws out!

    18. Inside their boxes

    19. I store my dolls behind glass in a curio cabinet. :daisy

    20. Currently, I have two that sit out in various parts of my room (it's one of those depending on the moment kind of things:whee:). My boy Tahmos and my WIP boy, Aqqen, who I'm in the middle of making a wig for. I've put off working on it because of a recent move and classes starting up. The other WIPs and my MSD are all still in their boxes, waiting for the next move in mid to late November.

I had them out in my last place too, and I always was in the habit of having the shades drawn. It's a bit habitual for me to keep my room dark. This room in the current place is naturally dark, even at midday. It often looks like twilight outside even in the middle of the day!:ablink:

I'm not sure what kind of lighting the new place will have, but the setting will probably be similar. I'm planning on getting a glass display case (I have one cat that fortunately doesn't bother with either boys, but I'd rather not take my chances too much!:sweat). I won't have an extra display room any time soon, but I can't keep them all stuck inside boxes hidden in dark corners. Tahmos especially wouldn't like that! :mwahaha
