1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How important are doll boxes to you?

  1. Keep!

  2. Toss them!

  3. Keep if CoA is missing, otherwise toss them

    1. i would prefer for all of my dolls to have their original boxes, but buying secondhand doesn't always work in favor of that.

    2. Definitely keep for during moving or storage, even for travel sometimes!

    3. I like to keep mine. Sometimes I even like to use them for props/furniture (I once turned my Iplehouse SID box into an 1/3 scale bed while keeping it entirely intact). I also tend to move around a lot so I like to be able to put my dolls safely back into their boxes during the moves (I keep figure boxes for the same reason), and when I'm not actively moving, I use them for bjd related storage. I also just like how each company has uniquely designed boxes.

    4. Now I feel sad that I was forced to toss my Granado box. :...( I just move around too much, everything I own has to be able to be packed up and driven/flown around. At least I still have the COA and the heads' boxes. And my boy's body's box is safe at my parents' house, which is good as he is second hand and has no COA (went with the head).

    5. Up until now I’ve kept all mine that haven’t been too damaged or gross but I’m starting to feel like I have too many useless boxes.

    6. I prefer to keep the boxes because of just in case and because I love pretty boxes in general. I like to reuse boxes to keep things rather than having them be empty laying around. For example, I have no display case set up since my recent move so my dolls are currently living in there for the mean time. When I am not using them as their doll house, I use the boxes to store their clothes, accessories, and other doll related stuff.

    7. The boxes are indeed VERY big especially for the larger sized dolls. But the box is one way to prove that your doll is ligit and not a recast when it comes to that situation (along with the birth certificate). If I were to buy a second hand doll from someone I need to make sure the original box is still there.

    8. I've noticed a lot of people in this thread refuse to buy a secondhand doll if the original box is not included, and I'm going to have to say...I completely agree. The way I see it, the box is part of the package. I keep the original bags/boxes for other collector items that I may end up reselling down the line, and I'm just not interested in buying something without the extras that originally came with it. I move pretty often, and I always have a box that's just full of other boxes and bags because of this.

    9. All my dolls are currently in "storage" in my apartment's spare bedroom, because there's nowhere to display them. Being able to put them in their boxes and stack the boxes made the majority of them easy to put away, the ones that don't have boxes because I bought them secondhand are all sitting in my closet nowhere as neatly as the boxes.

    10. I tend to keep the boxes my dolls come in so that I have them if I ever wanted to resell my dolls.
The only doll box I've not kept is my Volks Saki's box - I had to abandon it in Japan as there was just no way I was going to fit that in my suitcase to bring home >.<

However, on the other side I'm really not too bothered! In fact, I tend to prefer buying dolls without their boxes as A) it sometimes means they are cheaper B) I don't have to find space to keep the box.
The only thing that a box provides for me, as people have already said, is more proof that the doll is legit. But if there's other proof, coming without a box is not a dealbreaker for me!

    11. See, I've had closets flood, and had doll boxes get ruined before. It's an unfortunate reality that papers can be stored with other papers in a safer place but there's a limit to how well a bulky box can be protected from water, and it's just cardboard. So I'm not going to blame anyone for not being able to protect boxes well enough, if they have enough evidence that their doll is real without the box.

    12. Oh yeah, there's lots of ways to prove the doll is legitimate without a box! That's not really my biggest concern. Someone here mentioned that boxes and CoAs can both be faked, and that's true. I personally prefer receipts over both a CoA and a box to tell if a doll is legitimate. I just prefer the box because that's how I like to collect things, so I wouldn't be interested in buying a doll secondhand if it didn't have the box with it, too.

    13. theyre like iphone boxes to me. id probably be better off tossing them but they look so snazzy imo. in any case theyre kind of like cute little beds for them, and i stored their clothes under their pillows.

    14. I don't care about boxes, thrown most away cause they are taking a lot of rooms

    15. I've kept all of my boxes and packing. I'm lucky enough to have a place to store my SD boxes. I have flattened a few of them for ease of storage, mostly the MSD boxes.

    16. Boxes are important to me, but I'm a weird collector of other storage things let me I hoard jars and containers.. especially little ones cause they are cute I don't use them but compelled to have them I am also a sucker for mint condition packaging (mostly due to my sealed Pokemon collection)

    17. I keep my boxes just because mine happen to be in good condition and they’re pretty cute. I think they hold a lot of good memories too! I remember opening them for the first time and getting the warm fuzzies. I’m pretty sentimental haha

    18. I would always like to keep the box it holds a certain value or momento to when you plan to resell the doll to a new owner. That’s just a personal opinion but that’s how I would feel, if I were to buy a secondhand doll, I would expect the doll to come as how the first owner received it and so on.

    19. When I moved across the country 2 years ago I tossed many of my doll boxes because I was like "it's not like I'm going to sell them" but now I want to sell some of them and they have no box :doh

    20. LOL! I keep the boxes but inevitably LOSE the COAs...
