How is everyone doing with their yearly doll resolutions/ plans?

Nov 15, 2022

    1. I think I did well this year, I did cut back on the number of dolls I purchased and also let some go.
I am looking forward to adding some more in the New Year.

    2. Honestly, my main plan this year was just get my Medicine Seller doll put together. Didn’t manage to finish though since I kept putting off commissioning someone to 3D sculpt and print his props and I still need to send my friend measurements for his medicine box, so I probably won’t have him 100% done until next year. :sweat But yeah that’s really just props though. The doll himself is all painted and got his wig and clothes and shoes, so I didn’t do so terrible. :XD:

Also ended up adding way more dolls than I planned to add to my crew, but eh…c'est la vie.

    3. Mine was to only buy dolls on my wish list when they're released again. I bought two dolls not on my wish list. One of which is an impulse buy.

    4. I haven't achieved any of my yearly doll resolutions...too much impulse buying... and haven't changed any faceup...:pout::atremblin

    5. Mine is selling the dolls I have packed away. I've been really lazy about re-homing the dolls I no longer want and now they're just taking up room.

    6. I bought more dolls than I was planning on, so I did too well at that. 6 new dolls ordered, 4 are home so far. I did manage my goal of selling some of those I don't love, a total of 3 dolls sold this year. I got members of my gang without suitable wigs or eyes the needed wigs or eyes. I'm currently short one tiny wig for an October arrival. I've done barely any sewing, and while I bought new sealant and respirator filters, I haven't done any face-ups.

    7. Not that bad, actually. I had to search the thread to see what were my ideas for this year and I've managed to complete 3 out of 4 tasks so I may have outdone myself this year. I got my MSD couple in shape with their new personalities and their new stuff.
The only thing I failed (and that I consistently fail every year) is taking more photos and sharing them. I just can't bring myself to do it. I don't have the skills to get good pictures of them and I get too embarrased to share what I don't think has the right quality so...

    8. Uh……I had planned on just working with my current crew at the start of the year, to find a focus and stick with it, send the ones I didn’t do much with to new homes.

      I found a focus.

And that focus grew and my current crew is now 5 more than it was at the start of the year. Granted, I did let my MSD sized dolls go as they aren’t a size I meld with. But still.

My creativity is being fed finally, so I can’t really complain. With how bumpy a year this has been, my dolls are my comfort and creative outlet. I’m very grateful to have them. They led me back into sewing and costuming, and making small props and things that I really enjoy making, which is my focus.

      All good, all ways. ;)

    9. I have gotten very little done. lol I did manage to sell some dolls I wanted to get rid of, and I fixed a couple of small things on dolls I am keeping. However, most things I wanted to get done over the year are not done.

    10. I did not sculpt as much as I thought I would.

I did mostly finish the Hussar project at least????

I was wise to put no dolly buying/selling plans on my resolution because beginning of the year me would never have predicted Penny's Box sending me into looking for more 1/12 size dolls (vinyl and resin) after having spent years deciding it was not worth sewing for the size....

Also I impulse bought a Pai Si due to Doll Family's discontinuation.

    11. I'm doing fantastic! y only resolution this year was to get back to being active in the hobby... I did that quite well I think.

    12. Honestly? I've given up on making doll resolutions. I'll get to it when I get to it!

It's been a slow year in terms of dolls for me. I received one new one who promptly got a face-up and took his place on the doll shelf. I got a good outfit (one that feels right for the character) for another doll. I'm slowly working on a ventilated wig for one of my dolls. And --- not much else.

I'm expecting I'll have more time for them in 2023 as I won't have any big trips planned!

    13. I made a purchase list and swear will never ever buy dolls that not on the list. The sad thing is I can’t stick with it…… so I simply change the list name to must have list and pretend nothing happened *_**_**_*

    14. Oh, uh... my doll-resolutions for the year were half and half not followed... I ended up getting way more impulse purchases than actual doll plans followed, but I am mostly happy with the dolls I got. One I might end up selling back to the friend I bought her from because she's just such a different aesthetic to what I normally collect.
Anyway, I did obtain a long time grail (Soom Heliot), who then promptly lost his body as I found a better one for him. But his old body wasn't going to be sold since I wanted it for so long, so I got a new head for it and made it another character. Now my poor Heliot will need to wait until late spring for his new body.
I did stick to some of my plans, like finding a sculpt for the third brother or a character trio, but I haven't been able to obtain him yet. I still need to get more character appropriate outfits for a few dolls, so that is good too.

Edit: forgot to mention that I did make faceup goals.

My easy to reach goal was to finish 25 faceups this year, my stretch goal was 50. I'm currently at 59 completed faceups in 2022, for a total of 568 faceups to date since 2011. So that is a good thing!

    15. I've only gotten into the hobby this year so I'm just looking forward to making fun memories! If I had to think of some resolutions, I'd say to get better at making clothes and furniture for dolls!
