1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long before you gave in?

Apr 12, 2009

    1. it took me 2 yrs of drooling over worn out hautedoll aticles till i saved enough to order one then i found doa like a month later

    2. upon seeing my first doll it only took about 5 seconds for me to hit "add to cart" it took a few months to find the right one though. however i WOULD have caved in almost immediately after joining DOA if luts cyber bohemian shiwoo was still available but by the time i discovered BJDS he was sold out =[

    3. I discoverd BJD's (or better worded: was pointed to them) I think...January of 2008? I remember being blown over by their beauty rather than how much they cost. The interest faded however until February 2008, and I joined DoA a little after I started researching different sites.

I committed that I was going to buy one then. But I didn't actually take the plunge (and get together the money) until later that year in November when I ordered my first doll...Kori arrived exactly 30 days later on December 1st :blush

    4. Four years of futile resistance, hehe. A few months of that was spent lurking on these forums, soaking up knowledge and trying to find just the perfect mold.
I didn't have the money at the time (it was my first year of high school) and about two years after, I finally did due to an after-school job, but my parents wouldn't allow me to buy one, urging me to save for college. My interest in them faded somewhat.
Just a few days ago, I stumbled on some doll photos and tried logging in to the forums again. I figured, if I still wanted one after 4 years, I would probably never stop wanting one xD So I decided to look around the marketplace and one of my favorite sculpts, the K-Doll Kill_U 2nd, was for sale. I bought it as a birthday present to myself.
I haven't told my parents since I'm leaving for school really soon and taking him with me <3 He's being shipped on Monday and I'm so excited! Sure, it's just a head, but there's so much I can still do to make him my own. It's what attracted me to these dolls in the first place, I'm an art student and I love that every part of the doll can be made or customized.

    5. i came across BJD's in...2007 or 2008. the first site i saw them on was luts. the price also turned me away but after a while i came back to it. this time i'm really looking forward to my first doll around my birthday.

DoA was a site every person who owned a BJD ,that i saw, said would be a huge help as well as a great place to socalize with other BJD lovers. they were all right and actually DoA helped me find a better mold of the first doll i was planning to buy :D

i'm pretty active, i guess. only that i got my account in the summer so i had a lot of time to screw around before i had to go back to school/work. i'm still doll-less haha. but everyone heres been great and i feel really welcomed.

    6. I actually knew about these dolls two years ago.
I simply never got around to it because of the price, I was like... only 17 then, so I figured it was one of those ages where your parents would prolly freak out, and stuff, so I didn't even mention it to them.
What changed my mind, this year, was first seeing my dentist's daughter's doll, and then having a closer friend who has one as well. I mean, it wasn't the deciding factor, but it made me realise, HEY, I can actually get one, eventually, if I just try hard enough.
And so I've been scraping together my allowance, and taking sandwiches to school so I won't have to buy the lunches. It's painful, but for something that I really want, I think I have to be willing to make some sacrifices in the process.
Funnily enough, in 2007, I really wanted one of the LUTS dolls - now, when I'm seriously saving for one, I'm back to looking at LUTS. xD

    7. I've been wondering, how much time passed since you guys first found about BJDs,to the time you finally gave in and ordered one? Also, for how long were you a doll-less DoA member? Were you an active member, despite your lack of dolls?

I found out about BJDs on February '05, purchased my first BJD on March which is the same time I joined DoA ^^ I was an active member before, now I'm more of a lurker.

    8. I first saw a picture of a bjd in 2004 but I didnt know it was a bjd and there was no description of it. The person had a little Vincent from FF7 cosplay outfit on it and I fell in love. The sculpt the make up etc.

Later that year just on a whim I looked up a name that kept popping up in my searches "Super dollfie" Jackpot ! I was overwhelmed with at the time what seemed like alot of mold choices and companies nothing like today heh...

It took me close to a year to figure out who I wanted which was a Volks f-14 so I was all geared up to get her at the Volks store opening in 2004 only to get there and and get a chance to order a f-14 and guess what? They didnt offer her there.

I almost cried! I had chosen my second choice which was a Mimi Sd13 but I was bummed .

    9. i gave after about half a year

    10. I waited a month. I saw the dolls but was still into lolita at the time and wanted money for clothes. After only a few weeks of finding the dolls, I realized I really didn't like the lolita community and wanted to get into dolls instead. Once I started researching I bought my first doll after about two weeks, I think.

    11. I first saw BJDs on dA a while ago and was overwhelmed with the creative opportunities they offered. I never liked dolls before so it was a bit of a surprise when I saw one (an El) and went DOES WANT. WILL HAVE.
So I joined here to learn more, and have been quite active I think. But I still don't have one though, mainly because a) it might just be another fad of mine, although I don't think it is, and b) I'm saving for uni so need to be really careful with my money. I've promised myself that if I still want the same one by my birthday in october, I'll get it. By hook or crook, I'll get that damn doll! :fangirl:

    12. I first saw a DOD bjd fan-art paint via photoshop on dA. That was my first experience of seeing a bjd. I had gone to DOD site thinking they were the only doll company... and obviously I was wrong. Oh what a joy I found when I realized it wasn't just a DOD kind of world! I have to say I saw that painting about October '07. I've drooled over pictures since then until September '08. And now that I've done the math, I'm rather in awe of the fact that it had been less than a year since I've known about bjd's that I had gotten Nabi.

    13. I had planned to wait a year to make sure it was something I was serious about, but it ended up being a little less than that because Fairyland released Pukifee ante (my ideal sculpt in my ideal size) and the event they had at the time was the clincher. I just had to jump then and there!

    14. hm after almost 2 years. But I learned about them.. 3 or even 4 years ago, a friend of mine showed me some pictures and websites about bjd.

I've been drooling over them for 3 years and the last 2 years I decided I really wanted one, so I started saving. 1/2 year ago I found pictures of shushu and I was sold.
While saving up the money I wasn't very busy with bjds, but I checked the site's once a month to find out if I was still in love with the shushu. That was the case,, so last december I finaly had enough money and I orderd her...

    15. as soon as i heard about BJD i wanted one. so i just needed to wait until i have enough money :)

    16. Knew about them for years, but never thought much of it. Even forgot.
Then got reminded and I started searching since August. I NEEDED and WOULD find "the one". I did at the end of October and finally ordered 3rd of December. Too bad postal service screwed up and he still isn't here. :...(

    17. I found out about them at the beginning of this year, and bought one a week ago. I have her now, and had been saving since Jan. 25, I think.

    18. I first stumbled about ABJDs 3-4 years ago. Took me a few years to join DoA and take the plunge. :XD:

    19. I joined in 2007 but I knew about BJD's for quite a while before that, say 2001/2002/2003 somewhere in that 3 year period I learned about BJD's but at the time I was living at home with more animals than sense with no money at all. I gave up on them until 2007 when I found DoA and got the BJD book. All the dolls in the book was so expensive! I never expected to own one, then last April (2009) my BF asked me what I wanted for my Birthday... and I got my little ResinSoul Bei!
For me this hobby has been a long time coming.

    20. I first found out about BJDs in... maybe '07? Through DeviantArt. But as soon as I found out about their prices, I promptly forgot them for two years, until I randomly remembered them shortly after buying an expensive camera and joined here September first of '09. I started saving then, and was /very/ active on the forum while doing so. I ordered Euphemia on Halloween with help from my parents, who I /never/ expected to be supportive, (<3!) and although I've got no idea when she arrived (they kept it a secret when she got here and only let me open her as a Christmas present when I got back from a trip), I opened her box for the first time December twenty-ninth. So BJDs have been kind of a long journey for me so far. xD;;
